What you've suggested will work, but it's not an ideal set-up. Since you have three PCs, I would recommend that you purchase a wireless router/switch, which will give each PC connected to the ports on the router 10/100 Mbps on the LAN, and 11 Mbps (if 802.11b) to any wireless PCs. The...
The installs shouldn't just be failing on you. Even if you have strange hardware, it is unlikely to cause the install of Red Hat and Mandrake Linux to fail - that is plain weird. I have installed Red Hat Linux countless times on my laptop (in fact, I'm using RH 8.0 to make this post!), and...
I would like to connect a digital satellite receiver to my computer, but I'm not sure what to use. I could pick up a mpeg-2 encoder card, but that seems stupid since the receiver is already doing that. All I want to do is pass the video/audio from the receiver to the pc, and then watch t.v...
From what you've explained, you've done pretty much everything you can to get your PS2 online (and it has worked), but it's not staying online. I think you may be having a problem with your router. Not to make things even worse, but SMC products aren't that great, especially their routers. My...
Pictures of the JB980 from CeBit:
http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-JB980.html
I was going to buy the JB940, but now I'm going to wait a bit to see if the JB980 is going to be released in Canada/U.S. If it is announced, I'm snapping it up right away!
I also have my eyes on a NetMD...
Thanks for the reply Erik. If your set does not allow saving different settings for each input, it's highly doubtful that my older Wega does.
Can anyone else confirm my point above?
I would appreciate an answer to my question, if anyone knows. Please don't hold out!!
I know everyone here is enamoured with new gear, but I would really like help on this!!
I have a Wega 36XBR250, and I was wondering if the t.v. saves different settings for each input (S-video, Component etc.).
I have calibrated my t.v. using Avia with a S-video hook up. I'm thinking about purchasing component cables for my PS2, but I will need to set up the picture, contrast...
I really, really want to get into MD, and have been considering purchasing the MDSJB940. It has some really nice features, and looks and feels well built. For those of you who have used it or have heard other people talk about, how well does this model perform? Will I be making a good...
Wow, I'm in the same boat! My stands have spikes, but they're not exactly anchored. One good bump, and there goes a surround. My only saving grace is that the right surround is near the wall, and you can't walk between the wall and speaker, so that one is safe. The one on the left is near a...
On Monday, as I walked through Eaton Centre on my way to the GO station, I decided to pay a visit to The Sony Store, like I usually do.
I made my way to the back of the store where the RPTVs are displayed, and I saw a couple of guys hooking up a receiver to a mass of cabling. Floor standing...
A friend of mine bought speakers and a receiver a few days ago, and I think the speaker purchase was a terrible decision. He bought a Nuance "Think Big" system (no, I don't know either what the hell that is), and a HK AVR-120 receiver for CDN$2000. Now, I don't know much about the receiver...
I'm in university full time, although this is my final year (yes!). Oh yeah, I'm married, but we're not made of money either. Still, I'm not in the same situation as some of you.
Anyway, here's my system:
Sony Wega 36XBR250
Onkyo TX-DS676
Sony DVPS330
Paradigm Monitor 9s
Paradigm...
Hi guys,
My James Bond SEs are all out of order. I don't know which movie goes in what box. :frowning:
Can someone tell me the order of the movies for collections 1, 2, and 3 as they were in the boxes when the collections shipped? I would really, really appreciate the help.
Thanks in...
On a side note, I was really saddened to hear the announcement on Best Buy taking over Future Shop. It made me feel good that Future Shop was a big Canadian retailer. I know Best Buy is bigger, but Canadian bussinesses just don't seem to want to compete with their American, or for that matter...
Why oh why is Disney doing this? Can't they just put a sticker on the plastic wrap the DVD is packaged in? The yellow circle denoting that a french version is included is seriously killing the artwork on the DVD covers.
Every other studio puts a sticker on the case, or mentions it on the back...
I was talking about the cross over point for my sub with my Onkyo receiver. So, you guys answered my question, and you taught me something I didn't know about previously!! Cool!! :) Now I can more accurately set my X-30 cross over cut off.
I have all my speakers set to small (Paradigm...
I'm playing around with my sub and trying to figure out what sounds the best (calibrating a sub is a lot more work than the other speakers!).
I have my X-30 controller set to 100 Hz (I have a Servo-15), but I have no clue what the cut-off is on my Onkyo TX-DS676. I've looked at the specs for...
What type of connections does the sub have? Does the Servo-15 have left and right line level inputs, or just one line level input?
Any help would be appreciated! Thank!
First, guys, thanks for the info!!
Second, so what I'm reading is that season two of Stargate SG-1 is indeed going to be released, but just not this year; it will probably hit store shelves sometime next year. Am I correct? If I am, then I can purchase season one, and expect season two to be...
I've recently started to watch reruns of this show, and I love it; enough to warrant the purchase of season sets on DVD, even.
I want to purchase the first season set, but only if more will be released. Does anyone know if more will be coming out soon?
On a related note, is the Stargate (i.e...
American Sound?!? WTH?!?! Talk about ripping off a company name! Anyways, CANADIAN SOUND is the store you should be checking out, Eugene.
They're located in Brampton, on Queen St (right beside Blinds To Go). I'm sorry I can't be more specific than that, but you can look them up at...
The reason why I bought the 36XBR250 in August 1999 was because of the vertical compression feature, so I know just how good anamorphic widescreen DVD movies look on this set.
I wouldn't watch a DVD movie any other way (unless of course I had a 16:9 RPTV)!
I was just hoping that it would work...
Wow!!!! Thanks a lot, John!!!! I'll make sure to give this a shot. It's worth trying out at least once, but I doubt I'll do it every time I play GT3.
Again, thanks for the info. It's very much appreciated!
No, the 36XBR250 and the 32XBR250 do not have a manual switch to turn on/off the vertical compression. The year 2000/2001 Wegas that have the vertical compression feature DO have this manual switch, which is selectable through the user menu.
The 1999 XBR250's don't have this feature...
