What is the best way to integrate a sub into a 2 channel system?

I have looked at many of the threads relating to this subject but was unable to come away with any firm conclusion. I have a tube preamp and amp and bookshelf speakers plus an active sub. Please tell me if one of the following methods is considered best: 1) Use the high level...

Can I change the tweeter in my center channel?

I have repositioned the center from the top of my RPTV to a stand in front. Very dynamic scenes in SPR and LOTR still have very hard to hear dialog. The options to alleviate this problem are: 1) new speakers. I am going to get 5 new speakers this winter to the tune of around $2,500. 2) new...

Can I change the tweeter in my center channel?

I'll give the equilizer a try on the center and boost the high end a bit. If it doesn't help, no harm done. It may be fun just to try.

Can I change the tweeter in my center channel?

I am wondering if I replaced the tweeter in my Def Tech CLR-1000 center, could I improve the speaker. One some movies, I feel that the dialoge is a little muffled. Would putting a better quality tweeter in fix this? The tweeters in my front three speakers are different right now so I am not...

    Receiver as a pre/pro

For my HT system, I added 3 Marantz MA700 amps to power the L/C/R channels of my Denon 3801. The improvement was dramatic. The Denon still powers the side and rear surrounds. I have thought about getting the 950 or 1066 and 4 more channels of amps but I am not sure if the returns would be worth...

    I believe...in tube amps now.

What are some efficient, say above 92dB, speaker that lend themselves well to tube amps? I have my foreplay on the way and may take the dive into tube amps in a short time. Right now I plan on using the foreplay with a SS amp (NAD C270) and a pair of Dive 2.1 speakers (87dB). I imagine I would...

"Clockwatching" - An SVS 20-39CS+ diary (LONG).

Jeremy, You have a gift. Please keep posting. My newly upgraded 20-39PCi sounds great. I am sure the CS+ is kick as*. Now, how much for that Ultra? Hmmm........

    My SVS driver swap...

I just installed the new driver. It was very easy and took about 10 minutes. I would echo the "cleaner" bass comments. I only listened for around 10 minutes to some demo material, but the base seamed much tighter with greater impact. This upgrade/tweek is a no brainer. An already excellent...

Beware the Ides of March: News regarding the Outlaw 950 (& the 755)

RAF -Nice to hear the good review on the 755. I also have 3 MA700s for my L/C/R. They are great amps. I think there will be a 755 in my future for the side and rear surrounds. Good amps are wonderful, they never become obsolete. Best, Chris

need recommendations on high sensitivity bookshelf speakers

Hi, I am toying around with a tube based system in my living room for 2 channel music. My understanding is that for tube amps, you want highly sensitive speakers (>90dB). I am looking for a pair of bookself speakers to match with a sub. Thanks, Chris

recommendations for tube preamp and amps wanted

I think I am going to try to build the bottlehead Foreplay Preamp. For only $150 there is not much risk and I may learn something. It sounds like fun too :).

recommendations for tube preamp and amps wanted

I know next to nothing about tube gear and was looking for ways to tweek my 2 channel music setup. Can you recommend some tube gear in the sub $800 range? Also, my speakers are not very efficient (87dB) so how would that affect my tube amp search? I have heard that just adding a tube preamp...

How are YOU managing bass with SACD?

I use the speaker level inputs for 2 channel base management from the 555ES SACD with a Def Tech 15TL sub.

    I'm going to biamp! NAD C 370 + C 270!

Keith, I picked up a C270 recently to use with my new 555ES. I am currently only running 2 channel music out of the 555ES. I found that using the C270 variable line inputs, that I didn't need to quickly buy a prepro and get the most out of SACDs. Running the 555ES strait into the C270...

Mitsubishi - "The Rolls Royce of TVs" ???

Galen, I have to chuckle every time I go into TBSS. They really strike me as used car salesmen. Now if they were selling used Rolls Royces then that would be another story. Where did you pick up your Tosh?

    Anyone heard of this tweak???

I just had the local Druid come over and realign the forces around my HT. You would not believe the picture improvement . Right before he left, I mentioned that others who call themselves ISFs perform a similar service. He told me not to put all my faith in things of this world and took...

New Pioneer Widescreen Sets Have Elite Doubler

I wonder how the 2002 Pioneer non-Elites will compare to the present Elites? If the new 2002s will have the current elite doubler and not lockin on progressive sources then they certainly would be worth waiting for. I wonder what the 2002 Elites will have to make them elite.
