ugh. Got a new notebook a couple of weeks ago and discovered the wonderful world of Windows Media Player 12. worst. software. ever. Here's what I did: I dumped about 50 tracks onto my notebook from my .mp3 player and used WMP to listen to them while getting caught up on some work over the...
Been a while since I've posted here @ the HTF. How's everyone doing...?? Got my fiance and I an early Christmas present this morning. Went to my local Best Buy and got a Samsung LN32B640 set on sale. Been looking at it for a couple of weeks and decided on this one. Did a search and didn't...
I purchased a new HP DV9000 series notebook computer. I've been trying things out slowly but surely to make sure it's in working order. I have a Toshiba HD-DVD drive with multi-DVD, CD burner, etc, etc. I tried burning a normal audio CD this evening using the pre-installed Roxio software as...
I definitely have the ''DISPLAY" listed in the devices.... If I'm missing the video codec... any idea where I can download this codec for WMP11?? Sorry if that's a basic question... I've never had an issue with WMP before.
I did a search but didn't find anything quite this specific... I purchased an HP DV9000 series notebook. Windows Vista. Windows Media Player 11 built-in. I have a few.avi files that I put on this notebook. I can hear the audio just fine but there isn't any video. Shouldn't video be playing...
Jason: Thanks for the post. I didn't fare too well in Houston. I ultimately ended up driving from Houston to Appleton, WI last week. I guess it is kinda ironic that you replied to this post. A couple of things... my wife and I really went to Houston to make the best out of an already...
This is an excellent point. I don't own either format and it isn't because I *wouldn't* choose HD-DVD over BRD... I simply don't have the funds right now to get a player. At the risk of sounding very naive, how do we find out what Universal knows that everyone else doesn't? Surely, there must be...
Got some Hammermill linen business card stock on eBay. Standard 8.5" x 11" sheets. Good price. Using our HP Officejet 5610 printer... the cards will not print properly and line up. The cards are formatted in MS-Word and they line up perfectly on the templates supplied by Hammermill. However, are...
Thanks again for the comments everyone... Question to those that might be able to help: After this whole Best Buy ordeal (and upon getting settled in our new move to Houston) I have now realized my notebook is no longer playing video in Windows Media Player. I found the crappy SoundMax...
The rain this past weekend shocked me... I had no idea it was like that. Like I mentioned before, we're staying with my in-laws who live off FM1960... ummm... Tomball Pkwy. or something like that... anyway, our area didn't see any flooding that I was aware of anyway...? But yeah... the rain here...
You guys, I really appreciate all of the info!! Very cool, indeed. I don't even really know how I should go about getting started with this. I know for a fact that Time Warner Cable offers Roadrunner for businesses. I was thinking of calling them and seeing if they service the area where the...
...just moved from Mpls. to Houston. I'm going to be working with my wife at her parent's businesses... one of which is a small coffee shop. How does their coffee shop go about obtaining Wi-Fi capability? We wouldn't be supplying computers or notebooks for customers to use like an actual...
I guess to those that care and helped me out with the previous thread I created a couple of weeks ago... thanks. We got our 22' Penske moving truck on Monday, June 5th and it was great! The truck literally had just 1,000 miles on it and it was awesome to drive. A bit overwhelming and stressful...
D'uh. I didn't even think to go to hp.com... ugh. I have way too much on my plate right now. heh heh... thanks, Patrick. I downloaded it and installed it fine... :)
I bought this printer a couple of weeks ago... never got around to installing the installation CD-ROM that came with it. I'm moving out of state and our house is a disaster area... in lieu of that, I've either a.) misplaced the CD-ROM or b.) managed to nonchalantly pack it away in one of many...
Peter: Thanks for the kind words... I'm assuming that with Houston being such a big melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities, I'll blend right in. Hahaha. :) I'm prepared for the culture shock but only to a certain extent. I think it's a situation where I won't believe my eyes...
Jeff: Wow. That is insane. I'm definitely not used to that but I'm looking forward to it. :) I've got two speeding citations on my record right now that are set to fall off next January... I got two within two weeks of each other. :frowning: My insurance rate reflects those citations. *sigh*
Thank you so much, Tim!! June 7th is the lucky day... I'm getting our moving truck on June 5th... allowing myself two days to get it all packed... and then shove off on June 7th.
*nod* I know what you mean.... if the "informed" computer gurus aren't using Dell... who in the heck are they using and what makes that system that much better? I guess I don't really care about the fancy spray painted case, neon lighting, super-duper spaceship thermoreactor... if it works...
Mark: I had heard or read somewhere about DELL purchasing Alienware. I guess I probably couldn't go wrong with either. I had a DELL desktop six years ago and not one problem... ever. I simply got rid of it because I outgrew the machine. I had expanded the hard drive, memory, graphics card...
Michael: Thanks for the reply. I feel the exact same way. On the other hand, with the laptop being under repair twice previously for the LCD issues... I would've been screwed had it not been for the extended warranty. I'd essentially be shelling out a lot more to have that repaired... but...
Mark: Never got a reason as to why the HD was reformatted. Just that I clearly agreed to not have the data back-up done on my system. The laptop is an HP Pavilion zv5034us. I paid $1,600 for it new. I can't say I'll be buying another HP again. And any further major purchases won't be done...
John: Not a big deal. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion... *shrug* I was born and raised in Hawaii. Lived there for the first 19 years of my life before moving to Minnesota. I guess I'm equally amazed by the amount of people who think Hawaii is great and would do anything to live...
