I contacted Pete at HSU support and he had me check/change some settings. No appreciable difference. Then he had me run the bass test CD - the sub showed output in the subsonic range and the driver therefore was deemed fine. During the bass test however at very low frequencies, there was this...
Rob - I pushed the cone in and no scraping sound. I do not know how to test DMM. I probably will take your advice and pull the driver and ship to HSU for testing as it is still under warranty. Thank-you all for your advice...much appreciated.
Max extension mode with one port plugged. Mode and amp switches set to match. I am the second owner so perhaps the driver is damaged, but I have been iin audio for the last 35 yrs and know a damaged driver when I hear one. The 12" driver just seems weak compared to the 10" VTF2's.
I placed my new VTF3 where my VTF2 previously was positioned and the VTF2 goes much lower. Tried moving it around the room and the VTF3 still has no where near the low end output of the VTF2. To make matters worse, the VTF3 bottoms out like crazy and the popping is very noticable and annoying...
Anyone know where I can find replacement 75a 250v GDC Bussman fuses for this amp? I have searched the web and Harmon's website and can't find anything that matches. Appreciate any help...thanks!
Mark - Thanks for the recommendation. Have some questions/concerns. This is a 8 ohm sub - won't I lose about half my amp power compared to the current 4 ohm sub I have? The Xmax is almost half what I have today. Did you plug this in to some modeling tool or is this just a...

Thank-you for the offer.
D-Box Sub 600 (www.d-box.com)

Low pass filter : active 24dB per octave...
As I mentioned yesterday - I blew the woofer in my D-Box Sub 600. Bravo. The question I have is about the connection. It only has two wires. I thought a sub had dual voice coils and required a pair of connections. As I look through PE and MCM catalogs, there are subs with single and dual...
I have managed to blow the voice coil on my D-BOX Sub 600. I pulled the subwoofer out of the box and found a rather ordinary Audax 12" 4ohm driver. Contacted D-Box (made in Canada) and they can sell me a replacement driver with shipping for about $120 USD. I think I can do better for less...
Thanks for all the feedback and input. Since I use my system for about 80% HT and 20% music - it's the 320 for me. DanHH: if you haven't sold you're 320 yet, let's talk. -mbs
Can pick either up remanufactured on eBay from HarmonDirect for about $400. I have read about some component switching limitations, no treble boost and a few other odd reliability quirks about the Signaure 2.0 pre-amp. Have not heard too much on the AVR-320. I know it can do 7.1, but...

Take a look out on uBid.com under Consumer Electronics->Speakers->Subwoofers. There are some great deals out there if you are patient. Just take into account the shipping charges when placing a bid.
My neighbor picked up a Bic D1210 sub (12", 200 watts) for under $150 shipped. Some...

re: Aren't Bose made in Canada?
Nope, Framingham, Mass.
(When I visit my company's headquarters, I have to drive past the building and never miss the opportunity to flip them the bird).

What I have done to address this issue:
I use my Sony DB-830 as a DD/DTS pre-amp and use the (100 wpc x 5) amp to power just the rear channels.
I have a Harman Kardon PA-5800 power amp (80 wpc x 5)to power the center and front channels. I got this from J&R Music World for $299 (read...
I too get S&V and was amazed at the differences in manufacturers specs vs. actual specs, specifically wpc with all 5 or 6 channels being driven.
The issue I have is how do the manufacturers get away with publishing such bogus numbers? If the amp can't even deliver the stated specs at 1Khz with...
RE: Kevin they should work fine.. They are balanced and they
have a earth ground strap which can be connected to the earth
ground of your Receiver or Tuner or whatever your setup may
be.

Thanks for all the information - between what you have provided and all the good stuff Brett has provided, I'm thinking I have to try my hand at building my own cables. You will know when I get all the parts/pieces as I may come back to the experts to ask some additional questions...

Congrats on the KnuKonceptz banana plugs!
When you made your cables, did you solder or screw the cable to the plugs? Also, what size sleeve did you use on your cables?
I was also wondering what heat source you use to shrink your tubing and how you terminate the sleeve to the heat...

RS makes great stuff for the money - most of it is RCA brand. I have RCA brand connect cables for most of my analog stuff - no complaints.
I fully understand your passion and brand loyalty. You love AR speakers/RS connectors/SoundKing Cable and I respect that. I own B&W speakers...

I call them as I see them.
$8 for 2 pairs that can handle 8-gauge cable is a bargain.
I don't profess to know every banana plug manufactured, but I have seen my fair share from Radio Shack, Parts Express, MCM Electronics, KnuKonceptz, Onecall, Hifi.com among many others.

There is always one in the forum...
Brett I am actually still considering your offer on speaker cables. I would prefer to use better cable than SoundKing (no argument it is a bargain) and better connectors than Radio Scrap, I mean Shack.
I still am warm on the 8 or 10-gauge KnuKonceptz...
These look alot like the AR banana plugs I currently have (which I hate BTW).
They are actually two pieces. The wire comes through the bottom piece which is essentially a gold plated metal tube. You cut back to the bare speaker wire about 1/4" to 1/2". The wire is then "frayed" around the top...
This may sound corny, but does anyone have the THX logo in a jpeg format and also the wav file (the one you hear when a THX encoded movie starts)? I want to have it as my background and start-up sound on my PC.
Consider me obsessed...

Not sure if you saw my thread on KnuKonceptz.com speaker cables. I too am looking at new speaker cables. Check out this link - price is not as good as Sound King, but MAY be slightly better quality. Don't know, no one out there seems to know much about knukonceptz speaker cables...
