    Carada 96inch 16:9 Criterion Screen

Selling my Carada 96inch 16:9 Criterion Screen with the $43 Billiant White screen material option. Total retail $671 + 43 = $714 plus shipping. Only selling because I recently moved from NJ to CA and this wonderful frame/screen doesn't work in my new living room. Approx 1 year, mint condition...

    TV vs. Projector

I just replaced a 4 year old Toshiba 56H80 widescreen CRT HDTV with an Epson Cinema 500 LCD projector (and 96" screen)....everthing is so much better (in 720p)...DVDs, TV, football games, etc. It's in my living room with decent light control. The $300 bulb is rated to 3000 hours, or only 10...

Are there any 37" 16:9 CRT direct view sets?

8 foot viewing distance? I'd go with a ~57inch RPTV (you pick the technology that matches your tastes, budget, room-lighting).

Are there any 37" 16:9 CRT direct view sets?

Kevin, 32" 4:3 to 36" 16:9? A TV doesn't hold value like used amps :) I would save your money until the larger sets work out for you.

Are there any 37" 16:9 CRT direct view sets?

Andre, With the older 480i max analog RPTV's, you might see lines at 9' for a 56" set. However, when you're sending dvd/directv/cable signals that are 720p/1080i/480p, 9' is just about right. And at 11' & a 720p projector, some would say that a 96" screen is too small! There are...

SCREEN SHOTS: 4 Brands Of Component Video Cable Compared....

Rich H, Thanks for the taking the time to do this (very informative). I need a 9-12 ft component video cable --- now instead of spending 40+, I just might pick up an Acoustic Research cable on ebay for 15 bucks (there are several other "generic" cables for less than 10 bucks).

Are there any 37" 16:9 CRT direct view sets?

Kevin, Is 34" from 8 feet big enough? Hhhmmm, I just replaced a 56" widescreen Toshiba HDTV (sitting 9 feet away) with an Epson Cinema 500 LCD projector shining on a 96" Carada 16:9 screen (sitting 11 feet away).....the four NFL playoff games this past weekend were a joy to watch in 720p...

    Liteon LVD-2001 1080i DVD player

Used Liteon LVD-2001 player in great condition. Composite and S-Video outputs don't seem to work, but why would you use them as this player outputs 1080i via the component video outputs. Supports DVD-Video/VCD/SVCD/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-R and includes MEPG-4(DivX Ver4 & 5)/MPEG-2/VCD/MPG Playback...

    Do looks matter?

Ryan, I had the Stage One briefly (gorgeous in black even though silver is probably even better looking) but decided to buy a used Soundstage and upgrade it to the Stage One's digital section (probably less than 50 units upgraded). For my needs, giving up THX/Ultra2 processing and the tuner...

    Do looks matter?

Looks matter, along with brand matching, size, and weight :) On bottom three shelves of my 5 shelf, open rack sit three Aragon Palladium II's (silver color), arranged with the V cut as Right, Left, Right. On the shelf above is an Aragon 8008x3 (black, no V); my Aragon Soundstage prepro...

From the Marantz 8200 to the Marantz sr-18ex...A smart move?

The SR18 is a combination of the AV9000 prepro and the PM9000 150x5 amp. So you are saying that the 8200 and 8300 have the same preamp and amp section as these Marantz separates?

From the Marantz 8200 to the Marantz sr-18ex...A smart move?

I don't know about the sound level adjustments, but the SR18 (retail 2800) was the AV-9000 prepro (retail 2000) and near equivalent of five MA500 125Watt monoblocks (retail 300x5=1500) in one chassis. I think SR18's internal amps would have cost twice as much as those in the 8200. And the preamp...

Last Minute decision: Harman Kardon 7200 vs. Lexicon MC-1

Artie, Used MC1's were going for 1300-1500 12 months; I suppose some scarcity has held up the prices. For 1500, you can get a new Sherwood prepro with DPL2x, a new Integra 9.4 prepro (w/o DPL2x, but has DPL2 and 6.1 ES/EX modes), or a used B&K Ref50 (w/ DPL2 and THX Ultra2). All these have...

Last Minute decision: Harman Kardon 7200 vs. Lexicon MC-1

Hi Artie, I think 1600 is too high for an MC1 (which also doesn't have 5.1 inputs). What a newer prepro with DPL2x, which can be applied to 5.1 sources. What are you using right now?

    Sherbourn 7/2100 or Aragon 8008x

Sherbourn 7/2100 (115 lbs) retails at $2850 for 7 channels. Aragon 8008BB (dual 1.1kVA power transformers per channel, 75 lbs) retails at $2600 for 2 channels. IMO, apples & oranges.

5 or 3/2 channel to match Aragon 8008bb?

    Or 8008x3 (1300) plus 8002 (550) or 8008st (850).

It seems I am unable to drive my amps to full power with my Aragon Soundstage.

James, If you are using an analog source, I believe the Aragon has a gain setting....check the owner's manual.

It seems I am unable to drive my amps to full power with my Aragon Soundstage.

Kevin, Click on James' link ---- he built his speakers. James, What do you expect to "hear" when you have the Aragon's gain at max? When you do this, you have a source playing? What SPL does your meter read?

It seems I am unable to drive my amps to full power with my Aragon Soundstage.

I don't follow.....how would your amps reach full power or clip when your speakers are extremely easy to drive.....you cannot be using more than 5 continuous watts. If you pump any where near your Parasounds' 220-250 watts, either your ears or your speakers would blow. No way you can come close...

Best options for used 2-ch amp $500 or less?

Kevin, Someone on this forum has two 8002s and selling one. Asking 650. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...ghlight=aragon

Best options for used 2-ch amp $500 or less?

Another amp to consider is the Aragon 8002; retail 1600, might go for about 500 used. Same circuitry as the bigger 8008 amps.

Looking for seperate prepro that does 2 channel well ,~$1500 new or used.

James, In 1999, when I discovered how to buy and sell gear with minimal loss, the upgrade and sideway moves were plentiful. But once I discovered the Soundstage in early 2003, I too realized that upgrading my prepro from here would be probably 2 times the cost.

Pre Klipsch Aragon vs Parasound amps

I don't know anything about the ADA. $550 is a great price for the 2003A, which has a 1.5kVA power transformer (for 3 channels) and does 220 wpc (easy). And like Kevin said, matching cosmetics.
