After receiving your replies, I drafted a nicely worded letter the the affiliate's Chief Engineer. I also copied the Station Manager. If I don't receive a response I'll send a letter to the VP. While looking up their contact information, I found another affiliate's "Engineering Q&A" page...
I'm sorry if this has been addressed before, or if this is the wrong forum for this question... In my defense searched the archives and didn't find anything in a quick thread name scan. Has anyone else had a problem with the sound cutting out for the last second or so before ABC HD...
To expound upon Scott's answer, the 75 ohm cables are usually video cables (or "yellow"). So, if you have three matching RCA sets with three video cables it will work. As with anytime you try to save money, it could be better.
I am amazed by the gall of CTHE in stating that the DVDs contain "all of the great music" (or something to that effect) in the preview. I don't mind many of the changes. In fact, Seasons 3-6 contained some pretty terrible music the first time and may even benefit from the overhaul. The only...
I visited my friendly local mom and pop shop (otherwise known as Wal-Mart) the other day and noticed a sign next to their HDTV's that said, and I paraphrase:
Now, I won't claim to be all that knowledgeable regarding this sort of thing, but it would seem to me that this is blatant false...

The real culprit here is my reciever's memory. It defaults to different setting for each type of input. I like this in some ways, but its a pain in the butt most of the times. For instance, when watching TV, the reciever had the right speakers on, but when switching to DVD (w/ EXT. IN) it went...
UPDATE I spent almost an hour last night playing with settings, connection, etc and found the problem. As usual, the answer was far more simple (and embarassing... :b) than I had expected. At some point, my reciever had switched to the "B Speakers", unbeknownst to me. I was getting the LFE...
It should play SACDs... It has the logo on the player (and the remote, for that matter). I'll keep searching, but I haven't been able to find anything thus far... I would be less confused (though no less frustrated) if no sound was coming through the speakers, but the LFE "action" is really strange.
I just picked up my first SACD (Michael Jackson's Thriller) and I have an interesting problem. My player (Denon 2200) and Reciever (Denon 2803) work perfectly well for DVD-Audio with the analog hookups & "Ext. In". I popped my new SACD in last night and got... nothing. Well, not nothing, I get...
My soon-to-be father in law is looking at displays for his new house. He is absolutely in love with DLP. I've personally been looking at LCD RPTVs for a few months and I've been discussing them with him as well. I'm not trying to push him in any direction, but I've been warning him about the...
To second Mitch's suggestion, I purchased the BT-77s a few years back. I would highly recommend them. BT-77 from Crutchfield.com I use them with Paradigm Mini-Monitors, which I would consider to be a rather large surround speaker and I haven't had any problems or concerns.
Nathan, Not sure if this is what they were refering to, but I found this on a DVD-Audio related page: Height Speakers. Scroll down to Figures 10 through 13.
Just a thought, but the Cable amp might be making the problem worse, not better. Dunno if you've tried it without the amp... You've probably tried this, but you might want to break the system down and add in things individually and see where the problem "starts". You'll find your culprit...
So I played with my collection (if it could be called that, at this point) and have come to this conclusion: my DTS discs aren't really DVD-Audio discs. They kick in "CD" and "DTS" on my player, and do not have alternate tracks. My collection includes, of this type: Police, Eric Clapton 461, and...
I guess my question then boils down to this: How do I know that I'm listening to the "real" DVD-Audio track? My player, as I said before, has DD and DTS decoders. When I use the EXT. IN on my reciever (which I have done, as I stated in my original post) how do I know which format it is using...
I'm a bit late, but I thought I'd mention that I've never had a problem with discounts'n'deals. I've bought a number of items from them. I had a problem with my shipping address (had recently moved and it wasn't yet an "accepted shipping address" with my CC) and they contacted me immediately and...
I picked up mine at Crutchfield, as they had a 10% off deal if you bought two or more components. I'm not sure I got the best price, but I am comfortable with Crutchfield and that is worth more to me than saving a few (or even several) bucks.
So, are the DTS "DVD-Audio" discs that I have come across not really DVD-Audio? Is SACD still 650mb? If so, wouldn't that make it "inherently inferior"? If not, is it really a ..CD? Finally, where might I find a list of recommended DVD-Audio discs? I don't think Amazon even carries them...
This is the first DVD player I've ever had where I could hear the drive spinning up. Not loud, but enough that I can hear it. I, unfotunately can't use the Progressive scan yet, but I'm enjoying the DTS (didn't have it before) and trying to get the DVD-A worked out. I don't mind the way they...
I recently purchased a Denon 2200 DVD Player and a Denon 2803 Reciever, both of which have both DTS and Dolby Digital decoders (I believe). I've been fideling around with DVD-Audio and got all of the connections worked out now. My question is this: What is DVD-Audio? I understood DVD-Audio to be...
Don, Admirable job trying to tread crap. Kudos. Tim, I just bought a 2200 myself and but I haven't had a chance to use it much. Its my first chance to sample SACD and DVD-A and I just picked up a few DVD-A's today. I'm interested in how they compare to Dolby Digital.
Chris, what is right for you may not be right for others. I, personally, have to compensate a fair amount for a poorly shaped room. While I'd rather sit here and say "the room is perfectly set up for HT" it just isn't the case.
I am in the process of upgrading to DirecTivo and I have a few "newbie" questions regarding Coax wiring. I would have left them on this Thread but I think this forum gets a bit more traffic than the PVR forum does... I have a dual LNB dish with only one LNB "active" at this time. In...
