Thanks Rob Yes, for sound I know I have a ways to go, but its good to know that at least my picture quality will be up to snuff (I'm using component connections). Am I right that my picture will be 420p, or will it be better?

Hi I have a tiny budget and started with a samsung HDTV and a Pioneer progressive scan DVD. I don't watch cable or broadcast TV, only DVDs. As far as picture quality goes, do I need a tuner or receiver to obtain the best results for playing a DVD disc? Thanks
