What could have caused this?! (washed out picture)

played around last night and I could re-produce only by hitting the wrong button on the projector remote while using the DVI/HDMI input. I think this is likely a "user error" situation. Feeling both stoopid and relieved.

What could have caused this?! (washed out picture)

It didn't happen during, it was just like that all the way through. I had fiddled with the inputs before the film started, THought I had the input right, but maybe something didn't sync when I switched it over (DVD was playing at the time). I'll have to go back and fiddle with it to see if I...

What could have caused this?! (washed out picture)

Watched How To Train Your Dragon last weekend for the 2nd or 3rd time. About a third of the way into the movie, I noticed that the colors just seemed weak and not a saturated as i remembered from having seen the film previously. I kept thinking when we got to more outdoors scenes, it would...

Help please. Can the Niles AC-3 handle my two amps for 12v switched power?

Guys, Forgive my ignorance, but need some help... I had been using a Xantech AC-1 to switch power on for my two amps and it recently freaked out on me, so I've replaced it with a Niles AC-3, as it offers two switched outlets (I had to split the singe outlet from the AC-1). Question is...

Dust blob or something else with my Marantz VP-12S2

Watching a movie last night, I notice a small "blob" at edge of top image, LH side. I pause the movie, clean the lens with an optical cloth. still there. I pause again, switch inputs. still there. I go to Avia test screen. still there. I search the room for some unseen obstruction...

Anthem AVM20 - separate sub levels by input?!

Mark - YES!!! you're right. Not in the menu, but in the manual. A detailed read last night found that the AVM20 "memorizes" speaker settings for each mode as adjusted by the front panel controls - for each input. Tested this tonight and solved my problem. THANKS!

Anthem AVM20 - separate sub levels by input?!

I've been playing with my Anthem AVM-20 (v.2.13) and searching around here and can't find the answer - hoping someone can jump in with a little help. Where in the setup menu can I (if I truly can) set up different sub levels for Cinema and/or Music -or- by source/device (CD vs. DVD)?? I know...

B&W Dealer discounts - need advice

Thanks everyone! OK - since my plans remain to buy in the Nautilus lineup, I'll expect 10%. Especailly given that I've got two dealers locally I can negotiate with. For a full surround package, 10% seems VERY reasonable. Thanks all! -Paul

    B&W DS7 Surrounds?

B&W's specs show a range of 60hz-42khz (monopole) and 60hz-15khz (dipole) for these speakers and a frequency response of 80hz-22khz, +/- 3db for monopole, 80hz-10khz, +/-3db for dipole. I am also interested in anyone's experience with these surrounds. Yes, I still prefer dipoles in this day...

Speaker size vs. Rm size - how big is too big?

Any rules of thumb on how big is too big when considering speaker size vs. room size? My Paradigm Studio 100's sounded great in our old house (big room - 15 x 32 x 8, seating distance 16'). But get boomy with less midrange presence in our new house (smaller room - 14 x 22 x 8, seating...

    BiWire hookup

Brad, rather than fus with running two sets of wires in-wall to each speaker, you might try getting pre-bundled 4 wire cable. I got some for my surrounds @ www.partsexpress.com Pretty slick, 4 color-coded 14 ga. wires in an in-wall certified sheathing. good luck.

    BiWire hookup

if space is a constraint and your reciever has bananas, you can buy stacking banana adaptors @ Rat shack. You could attach one set of wires to the reciever's posts and plug the second into the banana using the Rat Shack adaptor. If you were really into moving things around, you could also use...

    speaker mounts - paradigm

Anthony, I Echo John's remarks. if possible, stand mount the center under your screen. Above may give you trouble with L to R panning and imaging. I've got my Paradigm STudio CC on a stand under my 110" Firehawk and the results are awesome. There are a number of good center speaker...

Paradigm Studio 100 v.2 owners past & present: Upgrade plan?

Thanks all! First off, I agree with John, I've never had any trouble selling used Paradigm Studio speakers. Second, I have ruled out an upgrade to v.3. To much fuss for a small increment of improvement. For the price of the Sigs, the playing field opens dramatically, so we'll see how...
