Now more problems.
After trying the 2 prong deal, I get no sound from my sub. I think the amp is not putting out enough power to drive the sub.
Can using the a 2 prong plug (used extension cord, not adapter) harm the amp?
Anybody have any ideas as to what could have happened?
One person mentioned a Transformer Delamination.
I just got another post and the quy said that his does the same thing. Here is his reply.
"My 300-794 amp also makes a very soft buzzing sound that can only be heard within a foot or two of the amp, and only when everything else is quiet...
So I tried plugging in the sub with an extension cord that has only 2 prongs. No luck.
I guess the hum is just the amp working. Possibly, the amp hum is amplified inside the sub. Looks, like I have to learn to live with it.
I apologize in advance to those who may recognize this thread. I posted a very similiar question a couple of weeks back.
I have the PE #300-792. I built a sono-sub and flush mounted the amp to the tube.
The problem: I get a humming from the amp that's driving be crazy.
The hum is not...
Here, the difference between 4 small sheets and 1 large is about $10 CDN. Rip-off.
You can buy the full sheet and have Home Depot cut it at no charge. I think they make up to 4 cuts before charging you.
Make sure to pick up a dust mask when you buy that sheet.
Cutting the stuff is almost like throwing a handfull of flour onto a fan. Very fine dust, made an awful mess of my garage.
The two most invaluable tools I have are my drill press(with fortnser bits) and a random orbit sander.
I had a regualar palm sander before, it pales in comparison to the random orbit. Definately a recommended purchase.
Recomendation of course based on you not already having one.
Have fun...
My Dad knows a repairman who got a TV from and older lady because it didn't work.
The tv was full of straw and dirt from mice. He took the case off it and went to the car wash. Sprayed the thing out and let is sit and dry for a few weeks.
I don't know if he did any work on it after but it...
I've seen optical cables in stores with gold connectors. Not a coaxial cable but the fiber-optic type. The packaging clearly stated Gold Plated connectors.
Is this a huge scam since the signal is fiber-optic or does it really help? And what does it help?
I can't see how it would help, but...
Thanks for the warning.
The hum is not loud. Infact I had an Energy 8" subwoofer before and it had a little hum to it too. It's not a speaker hum. Before I had the sub assembled I had it plugged in without the speaker and it hummed a little.
I think the sound of the Amp is being...
I've recently built my first sonosub. It's works great and in general I'm very happy with it.
The only annoyance is the amp. It hummmmmmms. Not loud, but enough bother me if I'm not watching TV.
Is there anyway to get rid of the humming? I initially thought of plugging the amp into...
From what I can see from the SVS website, I would have to say mine looks pretty close.
The amp does stick out a little. This is because to the external ribbing for cooling on my amp. I have the 120W from Parts express.
As for amp weight. I'm sure you could add bracing from the amp...
I just did this to mine last weekend. I don't have any pictures buy I'll try to explain.
I made two boxes. Actual just frames to place the amp in.
The first was the easy one. Just four pieces of 3/4" MDF two inches high and as long as you need to make a nice snug fitting frame around...
About leaving that router unattended, that is probably a huge no-no. I don't know if you misunderstood that page you looked at or not.
A router can be a pretty scarry tool if not given proper respect. You have a razor sharp bit spinning at 30,000 rpm waiting to cut anything.
If left alone...
I had a similiar problem. However, after looking close I had three spots, yellow, green and purplish.
I had a fingerprint on the mirror.
Maybe it is just a little dirt on the mirror. Or like others have said, it could be a little dirt on a particular gun.
Good luck.
Dean,
Do you mean that you can buy material that is already a tube? I don't know if I'm just misunderstanding your post or not.
If the matierial is sold in a tube, do you know what dimensions it would come in?
Thanks.
Another question: This one about F3.
I have a Dayton 12" DVC, I was planning on a 120L enclosure, a 5" port tuned to about 18.5Hz resulting in a length of 76.88cm. This will give an F3 of 20.57.
Would I be better off tuning to 20Hz to lower the F3 to 19.67Hz? Will this difference even...
What exactly is the "Port End Correction" field for a Vented Box.
I have chosen a 5" port with two flush ends. It resuls in .85 in this field.
Is this value .85 inches, cenitmeters, or something else?
Wow, that's pretty cool. Is this specific to this brand, or are most shipped in a manner like this?
I haven't had the pleasure of recieving a driver yet, although one is on the way and it's getting hard to be patient.
