Not to beat a dead horse, but I too was dissapointed with the transfer. I was expecting to see an improvement on my 51" but alas nothing. I am not an expert but I do know a supposed improvement when I see one. I guess I was too overly optimistic by the video reviews on this title prior to...
Dan, I have PB2-Plus I bought July of last year I might be interested in selling. It's an awesome sub in mint condition with little usage hours! I live in Illinois but shipping is affordable with Bax Global. I have everything it came with including the boxes and packing material.
I was in the same boat and I went with the 770. I would get the 770: if you have the $$$ of course, if it is a large open area (or if you anticipate a large area in the future), or if you are driving inefficient speakers.
Purchased the PB12-Plus/2 a while back and I love it!!! You will not be dissapointed. I was lucky to have a big friend and a cart help me haul that behemoth. Hate to admit that I have become a bass snob (thanks SVS). :)
I have Outlaw separates (770 & 950). I love it, excellent bang for the buck. Demo both if you can. If you still can't decide just flip a coin. Be content with what you can afford, you will go broke trying to find A/V perfection.
Fresh of the presses: Paramount HD-DVD New Titles - The Manchurian Candidate, Spongebob Squarepants, Elizabethtown, Coach Carter, The Italian Job, School of Rock, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Catalog Titles - Forrest Gump, Braveheart, Ghost, Grease, Mission Impossible 2, Black...
I bought the loft back in 2001 and it was just a temporary thing until I save up enough money for a single-family home (SFM). Unfortunately the Chicago real estate market is pretty steep for a decent SFM, $500+. So we will probably buy early next year or if we're lucky this year. We'll see...
Went to Radio Shack and picked up a 12-foot cable but it was just short of what I wanted. Went to CC instead and picked up the THX 16-foot one, only $5 more than the Radio Shack one. Some minor adjustments on the pre-pro (-5db for the sub), using two ports blocked at 25Hz and a gain of 1/4...
Just received it this afternoon. SVS, excellent packaging job!!! I had a buddy help me carry and situate this behemoth up at my loft. The sub's finish is prettier than I thought it would be as I was expecting a rougher industrial texture. I turned it on but have not calibrated it as I...
Sony 51" Widescreen, don't remember the model off hand. Bought it back in 2001. It's not bad. Got an email today that my sub just got shipped from Ohio. Knock on wood I am hoping it should be here by Thursday.
PB2-Plus to be specific. Can't wait for this monster to arrive. Thanks to this forum for all the info I needed to make a sound (no pun intended) decision.
I love the freaky visuals (elevator scene, restaurant, and school scene). All in all a so-so movie, could have ended better. Reminded me of Six Sense meets Mothman Prophecies.
I own the 950/770 combo and I agree with Edwin_H on the nuances in music and movies I've never heard before. I look forward to listening to my CDs and watching DVDs all over again with a grin on my face. I can't compare it to any other pre/pro or receiver out there since this was my 1st major...
I used to buy a lot of DVDs back in the days of coupons, 3-for-1, reel.com etc., but lately I've been renting more and more. Unless it is a movie I intend to watch 2-3+ times or it is just a "must have", renting is a way to go for me. I also have a resource to borrow Criterion's, the...
I just saw Les Miserables movie (w/ Liam Neeson) yesterday and I thought the movie was pretty good w/ excellent cinematography & strong acting. Have not read the book by Victor Hugo, but after watching the movie, it makes me want to read it as well as want to see the musical version.
And now...
I'd like to know, how this sub compares to a similar SVS or HSU. I am in the market for a good quality sub for my money. My interests would be 60/40 music/movies. My 7.0 set-up: Polk Audio RTi150 front towers, CSi40 center and 4 Fxi50's. Outlaw 770/950 amp/preamp.
