I forgot to mention that my Panasonic plasma has also been ISF calibrated. I'll second the vote for it looking great on BBC digital in 16:9. I think you must be watching the analogue transmission to see 14:9 - this is a very common compromise the BBC use when they broadcast an analogue version of a 16:9 source. Happens with loads of other stuff, even Eastenders!
