    Biamping with receiver and poweramp

If it were me IMHO, I'd rather keep the amps to the mains of same caliber, assuming that the outboard amp would be of higher quality. If,however, you already have the two channels of outboard amplification, why not try it.

Made in Japan components....are they better than others?

Well,I've never been too concerned with where a product is made, but there does seem to be a perception that a product made in Countries like Malaysia are inferior. In my own experience, this does tend to be the case with some products. These products aren't necessarily audio/HT related.I've...

Thinking of getting the Krell Showcase pre/pro

Go for it.I will probably end up with one after I recover from the Krell amp I bought. The KAV500 was a close out,got a decent deal, but still salty.I'm using my Yam 2095 for a pre amp now,but can't wait to get a good pre amp, like that showcase.I know the amp alone did miraculous things for my...

    Leave power amp on?

I know the main topic is about whether to leave amps on or off,but what about CRT based projection systems, both FPTVs and RPTVs?I shut all my equipment off when not in use.It is a simple matter with one button to push on my Pronto.I will leave it on if I'm leaving it for just a little while.Not...

DTS Neo 6 vs. Dolby Pro Logic II (CONSOLIDATED THREAD)

I wish I had either one:frowning: .I'm currently using my Yamaha 2095 as a pre/pro.I had seriously considered upgrading to a Den 4802 to get the newer surround technologies, until I auditioned a Krell amp and simply had to have it.I'm a firm believer in seperates now.Needless to say, my upgrade...

Well,I put a hold on it

O.K. I vaguely remember them.i believe I've read reviews of their pieces before.THe only thing is that when I upgrade I really want a piece that is software ugradeable.I like to get the latest processing.I don't want to have to buy a new pre/pro when the next great surround technology comes out.

I'm not familiar with that brand. Is there aweb site for them?

Well,I put a hold on it

Actually,I contemplated buying the whole upgrade now,but I just purchased a truck, got to put a fence and a mini barn up.Basically ,I'm broke at the moment until I make some more HT money.:frowning: So I'll have to settle for the amp.The Krell has balanced inputs,so it would be an injustice not...

Well,I put a hold on it

Jack, I'm not sure, but I know it is stable down to at least 2 ohm My speakers sre nominally rated at 6 ohm though,so that would roughly be interpreted as 150 watts in my situation at that impedance.

Well,I put a hold on it

Manojm, Well I appreciate that. I'm pretty sure I am going to buy the amp.I was just lookng for some validation.Good deal or not,it is still a chunk of change:).I just want to be absolutely sure.I put a little hold money on it,so I've practically made up my mind already.

    Denon 4802

IMHO,I'd hold onto the Pronto until you've lived with the 4802's remote awhile and are sure it is the one you want to use,While I don't have a 4802 or 5802 remote,I do have the Pronto.I have my Pronto set up with som pretty cool graphics and programming. It is set up with tons of macros...

Well,I put a hold on it

Thans for the responses, John, Well I wondered abot that, but I can surpass 105db now with the internal 100 watt amps in my Yamaha 2095.Let's just say the Krell amp opened my eyes and and did the job with more authority.Without the brite coloring of the Yamahas amps. I have Paradigm...

Well,I put a hold on it

I auditioned a Krell KAV 500 in my home .I fell in love with it.The Amp,while being new,has been discontinued. For this reason ,I can buy this amp for 2500.This amp had a suggested retail of 4500.I put some money on it to hold it.My question to anyone who cares to give an opinion,is what do ya...

HDTV and DVI: A Very Important Article

Guys, While I don't think we should be apathetic about this issue,I have a hard time believing that we will be left in the cold.Like others have pointed out, there would be an almighty uproar and it would be an extremely unwise thing to alienate those who buy into new technology.After...

Yamaha Receiver Owners (and specifically 2095 owners) Ohms

My guess is that unless you are continually driving the new 4 ohm load really loud and taxing the power supply of the 2095,you'll be alright. My Paradigms are nominally rated for 6 ohms and I've never had a problem with my 2095.However,if you wanna play it safe,Yamaha directs you to...

    2 center-rear surrounds off a single speaker-level output on a Yammie receiver?

Yeah ,I think you've got it,I don't know what way you may have been thinking of originally, but there is only one way to hook the speakers in series.Whether you do it at the receiver or at the speakers, the wiring is the same electrically and would appear the same in a schematical drawing...

I don't know how she did it, but....

That's one of the nice things about my Pronto. I have it set up with icons and macros for everything. It asks her what she wants to do and all she has to do is push the corresponding button.;)Even the channels are arranged with icons.:emoji_thumbsup:

    2 center-rear surrounds off a single speaker-level output on a Yammie receiver?

    2 center-rear surrounds off a single speaker-level output on a Yammie receiver?

You can wire them in series if you wish, the down side is that you'll have to boost that level to match. You can still run two separate wires to the speakers as if you were runnin them normally or in parallel.Just do your series connections at the receiver's speaker terminals.

    Use for old Adcom amp?

Justin Putting the SVSs with a4 ohm each in parallel will halve the impedance not double it.

Paradigm Monitor Series owners, what receivers do you use?

I am running the 9seMk3for the mains(the model before Paradigm started just calling them monitor 9s)and a CC 300 for the center, with ADP 250s on rears with a Yamaha 2095.I've been quite happy with it except I found it slightly brite with some music.Right now I've hooked the pre-outs of the...

Brand New Rotel 1090, keeps tripping my breaker???

Jeremy, I'm not entirely sure I know what kind of tester you are referring to.I think I know and andyou sure it checks for proper polarity.I only use multimeters such as Fluke in my line of work.If it does, than ok,but I like to to check with a voltage meter. You can do this by checking...

Brand New Rotel 1090, keeps tripping my breaker???

That problem is strange. My initial response would have been that the amp was internally shorted.I think you have a case of either faulty breakers,it does happen,or bad connections.Make sure that proper polarity was adhered to.More than likely ,you have a hot leg crossed over to what should...

    "Home Brew" EX/ES Question

Rachael B,Christopher should be able to do exactly what you described, but without the Y connectors.Simply hooking some interconnects to the pre outs should't interupt the internal signal path to the internal amps of the Pioneer receiver. In other words,Christopher doesn't need the Y...

    New Pioneer DVD player w/ DVD-audio &SACD

Maybe this is old news, but I was shown a fax yesterday with a new Elite player that should sell in the $1000 range. This player, besides incorporating the Pure Cinema progressive mode also has DVD-Audio as well as SACD multi channel. My salesman seems to think it is close to being in...

    Question,seeking opinions,Yam 2095 with Krell KAV500 Amp

Well, yeah,I know there are other amps. This is a brand new amp though, not an used one.I thought of trying a B&K piece as well.As far as wattage,I'm not so sure ,this KAV-500 Seems to have plenty of reserve.Besides that,I can already achieve levels beyond Dolby Standards with the internal amps...

    Question,seeking opinions,Yam 2095 with Krell KAV500 Amp

Yeah Richard that is what I'm inclined to do.I just don't think I can give up this Krell amp now that I've heard it in my system.Besides HT this Krell amp has given me a new appreciation for my CD collection.Music is where the most improvement is noticed. This amp is just so fast and clean...

    Separates vs. receiver confirmation

Well I'll say this.During the past year I had substituted my Yamaha 2095 with a RXV-1.I heard a diference. The differences were subtle, but they definately were there. The differences in themselves were not enough to justify upgrading from my 2095. All this without any DBT. I just brought...
