AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

Yeah, Sophie's Choice was one that was a bit out there, still I'll take that over A Place in the Sun any day.

AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

Agreed. Everything that was "wrong" with the previous list was pretty much fixed here. I LOVED that they moved Vertigo, Raging Bull and City Lights into more respective spots. "The Genreral" at #18!!! I was surprised that "The African Queen" fell so many spots, but it and "The Jazz Singer" are...

I am too. A LOT of new films on this list. Much better than the last one!

AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

Yeah, I'm liking it better as well. Wow Ben Hur and French Connection really fell. Glad to see Yankee Doodle Dandy actually moved up!

sorry about that, didn't realize we had a spoiler button

AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

I had some free time at work today, so I took the first Top 100 list and made some predictions as to what changes I think will be on it. I haven't guesses as to which of the new movies might make it on, but just how the list might be affected after nine years. Purely for entertainment and...

AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

Agreed on both "Night of the Hunter" and "Touch of Evil". I think the most interesting part will be the first half as I'm sure most (if not all) of the Top 50 won't be going anywhere. If "Godfather II", "2001" and "Vertigo" don't all move up the list though, there's something distinctly wrong...

AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

I think this list will be fairly different from the one in 1998. No one really knew what to expect and I think that films that made the list might not make it this time around (or place so high/low). Vertigo was in the 60's and shouldn't have been, Wuthering Heights, Frankenstein, A Place in the...

AFI 100 Years for 2007 is.... Movies (again)

I'm actually pretty intrigued to see this "new" list. Based on previous AFI specials, they'll have the same folks (or most of) voting and I think we'll see several movies that will bump off the list and several that will make it on. Personally, I'd like to see films like "Best Years of Our...

    Looking for new DVD player...

Hey gang, I'm expecting a refund back from Uncle Sam and wanted to use that money to get myself a new player. I'm torn as to what to get, but I have a few brands in mind... I'd like to keep it under $1000 and have been eyeing up the Denon 2910 or 3910 (how much better is the 3910)? I'm...

    Denon 2200 Progressive problem...

Ok, well...I switched the component cables and now it seems to work ok. Could have just been a loose connection? I'm still curious as to if this has happened to anyone else, though.

    Denon 2200 Progressive problem...

Hello all, just bought a "new" Denon 2200 player off eBay. It came new in the box and was manufactured in Jan. 2004. Anyway, hooked it up last night and everything's fine but when I hooked up my new receiver and played it things were still fine. A couple hours later everything that was supposed...

    Denon 2910 Owners: Reviews/Thoughts/Adjustments

I currently have the itch to buy a new player, but only if it has an improvement in Picture Quality. There was a review for this player in "Home Theater" magazine (I think that was it), but my question is this: I'm using component only, via my receiver to my TV. Would this player be the one...

    Basic setup question

Your receiver should be the "Switching station" for everything. Essentially all of your inputs go there (from the outs on your DVD,etc.) and there should be some sort of "monitor out" from your receiver to the TV. Hopefully that will help you out...

    Onkyo TX-DS787 vs. Onkyo TX-SR602

Not really. And I suppose it doesn't matter now because I bought the 787. Hey, for $300 I figured it was something I shouldn't pass up.

    Onkyo TX-DS787 vs. Onkyo TX-SR602

Ok, this will sound weird but I don't care. First of all, I've owned Onkyo receivers in the past and I love them. I'm currently selling my TX-DS676 and the only reason I'm selling it is because I wanted to upgrade to component switching. So I bought an Onkyo TX-SR602 at Circuit City and have...

    Panasonic EH 80 hookup...

I know this works, because I've done it before. Let me describe what I'm trying to do (and for the life of me, can't replicate). I have this unit (Panasonic) and I want to make a backup copy of a DVD I made from this unit. Well, as we know, once a disc is finalized (on this unit), you can't...

    Panasonic H80 Recorder...

I have this unit and love it, now that I've gotten used to the functions, features, etc. But (yes, there's a but), I'm afraid that the 80 GB HDD won't be enough. I want to be able to record tons of stuff (and I only record in SP, most likely my problem) and am afraid the HDD won't last me...

    Panasonic DMRE80HS and DVD issues

Thanks for everyone's help, it all works fine now. I'll have to play with the editing as I'm about to burn something that will require some editing, but you can't make an omlet without breaking some eggs! Thanks again!

    Panasonic DMRE80HS and DVD issues

I haven't done that, I'll try it again now (I'm assuming you can put the DVD back in the player and do this) and let you know what it does. My players are only two years old at most, so I wasn't expecting these problems...

    Panasonic DMRE80HS and DVD issues

I thought I finalized the disc, it did it on its own. But if there's something I need to physically do to the disc, let me know as I'm at a loss...I'm on the cusp of going out and buying a new, cheap, DVD player just to be able to play my "burned" DVD's!

    Panasonic DMRE80HS and DVD issues

I just bought this today and am fairly impressed. However, a main reason I bought this is so that I can burn old VHS to DVD and burn TV shows onto DVD's. I tried this and it works (playback wise) via the new player (naturally), but neither of my other DVD players could read the DVD-R disc. I'm...

    Panasonic DMRE80HS

How would this work if I have Comcast HDTV? Would I have to sacrifice any quality, picture-wise, to hook my cable up to my DVD player (so as to record)?

    Panasonic DMRE80HS

I'm considering buying this unit, but first a few questions: First, I was looking at a Tivo unit, but I had to get a phone line, etc. I didn't want to deal with that mess. This appears to be the same thing in that you can record TV shows, anything on cable, etc. is this the case? Second, I...

DVD with Tivo - Worth the Investment?

I posted this under the "Audio and Video Sources" section as well, though this might be a better place for my question... It's been a few years since I bought a new DVD player and I'm really considering getting one equipped with TiVo so that I could burn some of the things to DVD. I've never...

Upgrade from Onkyo TX-DS676 to Onkyo TX-SR601?

That's my point as well. I still have one set of free component inputs on my TV free, so if that's the only benefit that this new receiver will offer; then there's no point in switching to a new one. However, if the sound truly is better and it delivers more power, etc. then that would change...

Upgrade from Onkyo TX-DS676 to Onkyo TX-SR601?

Hello all, I'm in the middle of a sitation here (though not that big of a deal) and wondered if I could get some advice... I currently own an Onkyo TX-DS676 that I purchased about three and a half years ago. It has a built in DD/dts decoder and I've been more than satisfied with it. I've...

    Fs: U61 Svhs Vcr

I've no idea how old this is, I'm guessing about ten years. I bought it last year and it works fine. I have th original remote and manual as well. But I found a good offer on a U82, so I have no need for this one anymore. Make me an offer and we'll see if we can do some business...
