Stephen, Good points. Yeah, we know about the $5/mo fee on DTV and when we talked about the lifetime option, that was for cable only. The good thing is that I'm not in a big hurry. I would like to decide within 2 or 3 months, however. I am on Comcast's email list for DVR availability...
OK, I'm going to look into that a little deeper. Folks around here seem to like the Dish Network better. I'll check that out as well. Thanks for all the info. I'll probably have additional questions after a little more research. OK, if I email you if I do?
Robert, Thanks for the quick reply. That is close to what I pay now for cable. Therefore, I don't see an economic incentive to change. The initial costs for installation and equipment (according to the DirecTV website) would offset the costs of a TiVo box ($100) and lifetime subscription ($300).
Robert, I may give DirecTV another look. I have compared it to Comcast digital a couple of times, in the past, and opted not to switch. Internet is not an issue, I have DSL. Do you know what the monthly cost would be to have DirectTivo and 8 HBO and 8 Cinemax channels plus HBO and Cinemax...
Well, Robert, you make a good point. I don't want to give up my digital cable, but I may wait for Comcast to offer DVRs here. I understand it will be soon.
Seems like a deal to me. A progressive scan DVD player/burner with 80-hr TiVo series 2 HDD. Best Buy has it for $200 before the TiVo $100 mail-in rebate. Is this a good deal?
Joe, I guess it is still too new for feedback. I am looking at this as well, but so far I can't find it locally. It isn't even on BB or CC websites yet. I have one of the 400-CD megachangers and was considering another one when I found this. I think I will apply what I was going to pay for...
The "anti-skating thing" is to control the lateral movement of the tone-arm. The -2 to +2 ring, on the rear of the tone-arm, is for balancing the tone-arm front to back to reduce the pressure placed on the vinyl by the stylus. The only way to adjust that, that I know of, is to have a tone-arm...
TanD, That does seem to be case. Bummer. The volumne level display, on the 3803 itself, is very hard to read from normal TV viewing distance. That's the only complaint I have about the 3803 however. I upgraded from the 3300 and it was worth it. Thanks for all of your replies.
Robb, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I saw that in the manual and promptly changed from "component" to "auto", but this did not fix the problem. Are you thinking that if there is an s-video cable connected to the s-video monitor out, that the 3803 may be sending the volume display this route...
Chuck, That sure seems to be the case, but I don't understand why it is. I only have component connections. Prior to the HDTV box, I had an s-video connection to the regular digital cable box and the volume displayed fine over the componenet connection between the 3803 and my monitor. If...
Now that I have a new HDTV cable box, and I am using component video connections on my Denon 3803, my volume adjustments no longer display on the monitor. Does anyone know how to get that to work? Thanks
Kelly, You're right, everyone does hear things differently. Remember, though, that it is difficult to compare components unless the setup is exactly the same. Listening to different speakers in different rooms with different music and probably different amps, pre/pros and volume levels makes...
Back in late 2000, I ordered a 20-39PC from SVS. SVS was just beginning and the wait was long between order and delivery. But everyone knew it would be worth it. When my sub was delivered, (serial # 00024) I could hardly wait to get it set up. The hardest part was trying to stop all the...
My copy came in the mail yesterday, but I have not had the time to watch it yet. I did read the cover to see the information on the audio formats. It says it does "English 5.1", but no mention of DTS OR Dolby in any shape form or fashion.
Also, there is no Dolby logo to be found. Don't you...
I believe those are ones Tom V. posted previously. Those are the ones I'm using anyway. Does anyone know the required cut-out diameter for the original SVS driver?
I have a pair of BP10bs and a pair of BP2004s. I took some time, in my home, comparing the two with music, no movies. In my opinion, the BP10bs are better for listening to music. However, if you do more movie watching than listening to music the BP2004s may be the better choice. If you are...
Well, Comcast Digital, here in Little Rock doesn't support DD5.1. My box has the optical connection, but the system does not send the signal. I've had their digital service for over two years. These people, at least locally, are clueless.
Yep, I agree. He may be the best long ball hitter ever. No one seems to think about the fact that he actually AVERAGED over 60 home runs for four consecutive years.
Maybe he'll pull a Michael Jordon!! :)
Despite the pounding Bose Corporation gets on this forum, Dr. Amar Bose (EE professor at MIT)is a true pioneer in the high fidelity field. The original 901, the wave radio, the sound cancelling headphones, and the bass module-satellite system were innovative whether "audiophiles" like them or...
