Ok, so i already bought the Toshiba 4900 and it works fine (nothing to compare it to). But i heard so much talk about the Pioneer 563, and now the only things i read about it are negative. Does it have the faroujda chip? And for strictly DVD Video purposes, will i notice any difference between...
My Toshiba 4900 does not have CUE at least when its in progressive mode. I did the Toy Story menu test, and the image looked great, in interlaced mode though i think i saw a little of CUE, so all depends on how you'll be using your player if you'll see CUE. My only question is, which is...
Well i just got the 32inch EDTV, and out of the box after lowering the contrast and all that it looks really good, good geomoetry and no discoloring anywhere. The blooming is very minimal and only noticable if i stare at the station ID or ticker (which i don't normally do). If you have your...
I just noticed that on bestbuy.com they have the Toshiba 4900 on sale for $80, anyone heard anything good or bad about it (i.e. chroma bug). From Toshiba's website it appears to be their top of the line single disc player, guess i'll have to do some searching here on the forum...
The reason i'm lookin for a sub $100 player is to go w/ the 32 inch Samsung EDTV i'm planning on buying in a few days, so the screen size isn't going to be large at all. I've been using the Toshiba 2108 for the past 4 years or so and it cost me $300 at the time. Since i have to buy the new TV...
What's the best prog. player i can get for around $80? I had my mind set on the JVC, but would i be better off w/ the cheaper offerings from Panasonic or Pioneer? I'm interested in the highest picture and sound quality w/ as many features as possible. Thanks, and sorry for sounding like a newbie.
I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up, but would using a full range PA speaker w/ a 15 inch woofer work as a good sub? Would 2 speakers make good mains for home theater? Any difference between getting a powere speaker or speakers that come w/ an external amp?
Yeah it comes out on the 17th, some ads are playing on TV. And from what i've heard they carried on the concept and changed that plot some so it shouldn't be considered an exact remake at all (ala Psycho).
I saw a sneak preview last night at my university so decided to do a little write up. I have to say that i never saw the original so watching this movie was the first that i got of this story. Despite how loud the crowd was (laughing and screaming at moments that were good, but not particularly...
My reasoning for settign the rears at 120 is cuz they are smaller satellites and rated 170-20,00hz. When you say you like a 40-50hz crossover on my receiver does that mean i set the sub to 40, or the sub, fronts, and center to 40?
I posted this here as to not piss off the experts w/ this rather newbie question over at the subwoofer forum. Anyways i have an H/K 325 w/ all my speakers set to small, then for crossovers i have my fronts and center set to 80hz, and my surrounds set to 120. Here is where i'm getting...
For some reason i HAD to have 7.1, although i don't use it now and prolly won't for another 2 years or so, but i just wanted the assurance that i had the most current technology. I ended up getting the 325 Refurb from onecall for around $460 shipped...you can get it for about $30 cheaper there...
Well tried the Rat Shack doo-hicky and while it reduced the hum by maybe .0005% it ADDED picture distortion, so that's going back to the store in the morning and picking up the power strip instead. Edit: Ok i didn't get the inline coaxial surge protector but got the 75-ohm interference filter.
Not quite along the same lines, but similar. I used the EZset on my 325 but i reran it not only in Pro Logic II mode, but again for Logic 7 and DTS and got different levels for each format, is that the way its supposed to be?
The problem isn't solved when i turn my computer off...but if i unplug the power strip its connected to the problem is also solved. I connected the splitter to a screw on the cable socket...but that didn't work, i guess its not grounded, i'll try connecting a wire to an outlet or try going to...
My TV cable goes straight from the wall into the back of my TV, then i have audio analog out from my TV to my receiver. When i listen to the TV through the receiver i get a slight hum in the center channel. When i switch to CD (which is actually my computer hooked to the receiver through a...
Well i have no idea how to check if the company grounded it, i'm in an apartment so i'd have no idea where to check. The coax was working perfectly until i hooked up my receiver. Would it do me any good to buy a better shielded coax, or get one of those power strips that has a coax in and out on it?
I have a 27 inch flat samsung that i vew from about 5 feet away and i have to say its awesome, but given the chance to buy again i would save up more to get a 30inch widescreen samsung HDTV, so that way you're never sitting there wondering how it would look w/ progressive scan or anything like that.
I get a hum in my speakers and sub when i select an analog source on my receiver, and by unplugging the cable from the back of my TV the buzzing goes away. I have a cable modem so from my main cable outlet i have a splitter that goes to the TV. Is there anything i can try to fix this problem?
All sources...i isolated the problem it seems...if i unplug the surge protector i have in another outlet (w/ computer and accessories) the hum and rising lines go away, how would i solve this problem w/out having to unplug the surge proctector all the time? Would buying a surge/ground for my...
I just set up my new HK 325 yesterday, but this morning i'm noticing some interference, it's a horizontal line that rises to the top of the screen and then another one comes up from the bottom. I took the center channel off and it was still there, isolated the TV power wire away from other...
For my component hookup from my DVD to 27inch TV i'm using Acoustic Research A/V cables (half the price as oppossed to actual component cables), they are the Performance Series. The video cable is shielded more than the red and white cables. Are these cables doing the job or would i notice any...
I know when people speak in terms of 2 channel music they say the H/K is tons better than the Pioneer, how does this compare in 5 channel music mode? Does the Pioneer still have its lack of punch feeling? For pure HT has anyone done side by side comparison or noted any exceptional difference...
They are monopole, and the speaker swivels (Bose style) so that i can aim the tweeter in one direction and the midrange in another. For 5.1 what's the best way i can set up my speakers, i understand about not tilting them down or what not, just whether facings each other, facing front, or both.
