I just performed a number of mods to my Toshiba SD1200 dvd player that some of you may be interested in. I replaced the stock AC power cord connector with an IEC socket so I can swap out and test different power cords. I also made a DIY power cord. I applied Microsorb under the transport to...
Now that I've made my first DIY AC Power Cord I need to be able to plug it into something. As a test, I've chosen my Toshiba SD-1200 DVD Player. It doesn't have an IEC socket so I'll need to install one.
I've begun this project and have a page up on my website in the DIY section: Link Removed
For those of you who may be interested: I've just begun a series of mods to my DVD player and other HT components.
The first is a DIY braided power cord that I learned about on another forum. I'm documenting the process on my web site: Link Removed in the DIY section. So far, I've illustrated...
Denon just replaced my AVR-3200 with a new 3801 because they couldn't fix a problem with the center channel. It arrived yesterday and I barely managed to get it hooked up after I spent an evening putting up X-Mas lights.
Anyway, does anyone have any advice or tips on this receiver. I kind of...
That's right folks. Denon has given my beloved 3200 it's last rites and is sending me a brand spankin' new 3801. Not a bad updgrade. I can now sell my Millennium 2.4.6 since the 3801 has DTS built in.
I'm also happy about having pre amp outs for all channels.
Just felt like gloating. Thanks.
First, EMI Electronics, a Denon authorized repair center, did nothing (literally) for 4 weeks (and $25). Then, I pick it up and drive it personally to Denon in NJ. Two weeks and $95 later, they send it back to me saying it's fixed, and as soon as I turn it on, it's obvious that nothing has...
Recently, my wife and I watched our Hannibal DVD. I had seen the film in the theaters when it came out. She had not. Imagine my surprise during the scene where Inspector Pazzi is viewing the FBI Most Wanted Web Page and the camera pans across "Usama Bin Laden". My wife wasn't surprised because...
I'm looking to sell my Toshiba TW40H80 television. It's the Non-HD version of the TW40X81, 40H80 etc.
I'm just not sure what to ask for it. It's in perfect condition, has been ISF'd, Duvetyne fabric installed (as illustrated on my website) and has a goregous picture.
What do you folks think...
Recently I needed repair service on my Denon 3200 receiver. I got the phone number of EMI Electronics in Flushing NY from the Denon web site.
On August 30th I brought them the receiver. They charged $25 for an estimate. Well, I picked it up yesterday, the 24th of September because they were...
I think my Denon 3200 needs service. Sometimes when I turn it on, then turn on the DVD player and watch a film, the center channel fluctuates from very low, spitty sound to normal. If I reselect the DVD player as the source from the 3200 or cycle through the surround modes and comeback to DD...
A few weeks ago, someone posted about the red banding problems they had with their Dish recievers and included a phone number. I called the number and was quickly given RMA numbers for the exchange of all 3 of my receivers. I had them since March 1998 so obvioulsy, they were all made before...
I want to make my own component video to compare the difference between them and my current MIT component video cable. What kinds of cable can I use for this and what model?
I know I can use Canare V3-5CFB but are there others?
Thanks.

Other than Markertek and Zack's is there anywhere I can get the Canare TS-100E stripper and TC-D-5CF Crimp Die?
Chris White, might you know of anywhere?
Thanks.

I've decided to use the yellow/carpenter's glue "dry bonding" method for the veneer on my mini monitors.
I assume that I will apply glue to one side and one piece of veneer at a time, right? In other words, I install one side first and then apply the glue to the next side and wait for it to...
I bought this unit to replace a Sony RM-AV2000 that I recently sold on Ebay.
I paid $29 at my local RS.
It's a longish unit that feels great in the hand, is back-lit in blue and has a "soft-feel" texture to its' case.
Build quality is great and more importantly: It does everything I need it...
