See, this is what I'm talking about. I went through 2 Panny players, and will never get another. I got flamed because of it. They make an unreliable product, period.

The Maltese Falcon [ Has to still be one of the best]
They Made Me A Criminal
The Killers
The Naked City
The Wrong Man
The Blue Dahlia [sp?]
Just to name a few more
The thing that has always amazed me on the forum, is that certain members who I would think are intelligent, get ugly. There is a thing called opinion, that a few fail to understand. I have had lousy experiances with Panny stuff. Is that so bad? I have a distrust for thier offerings. You get...
Having had the Panny A110,and the A120 players, I hope this player is a better build quality player. The two I mentioned were nothing but trouble. Cheesy build quality, and more mechanical and electrical problems than I care to mention. Panasonic has never made a really good product, even thier...
I just hope the RP 91 will last, unlike Panny's other players. I know thier A110 & A120 series players were awful, I had them both. Very crappy build quality, always breaking down. Maybe Panny finally got thier act together. I will wait till this fall to see what other players are out, than make...

I for one would never buy anything Panasonic again. I had an A120, 3 laser...
Dave, if you can't afford a Pioneer set, get a Tosh. Mits are very cheesy sets also, like the Pannys, and they don't last. Mits never really made a very good tv. Let then stick to building cars. Had two Mits, and they both crapped out.
How close are you sitting to this player? I have yet to hear my S7000 do anything, outside of the draw opening and closing. When it is accessing anything on the disc, it is silent. I have to physically put my ear to it to hear any sounds.

Michael,
You have to let me know where you are on the North Shore, and the name of your business. I have heard these Tosh players are supposed to be very good, and at a great price.

Michael,
I'm on the island also. Where did you get your player, and how much? I here the new Toshibas are supposed to have an even better chipset than the Panny. Wondering if I should hold out?

Manny,
Can you wait a few months? Toshiba's new line of players will be out. There are going to be a few progressive scan models. I have a feeling these will out do the RP91, and at a better price.

Well,I would expect these things to break down the road sometime. Panny,s have always been pretty cheesy on build quality. I'm not talking about the weight of the player, just the way they are put together. Thier vcr's are the same way. Very poor workmanship. Look at all the problems people had...
I would go with the Tosh, before the Mits. Tosh is the next best thing to an Elite. The Mits sets are pretty cheesy. They are late comers to the 16X9 sets, and I think the sets components are second rate. Look how lousy there big screen direct view sets were. Also, very bad service records...
First off, as soon as you turn the set on, lower all the settings to below 50. Contrast, brightness, sharpness, etc. I wouldn't fool around with anything else until it burns in. 100 hours would be a good burn in time.
