    Why 540P?

540P and 1080i are exactly the same scan rate. So if a TV can accept 1080i, it will accept 540p. Chris

    HD Digital Decoders

Both of those are really second generation tuners. If you want to use Dish Network with OTA HD STB, then you need the Dish 6000 with OTA module. If you want DirectTV and OTA HD, then Toshiba, RCA, Panasonic, Sony and Mitsubishi will work. Some like the Sony HD100 for the integrated menu system...

    Newbie question

Larry, 1.66:1, 1.78:1, and 1.85:1 movies will display on a 16x9 set without blackbars, since they are all close to the 16x9(1.78:1) ratio. 2.35:1 movies will have small black bars, but they are not very noticible, especially on the larger sets. This is all purely a geometry issue. While...

Now that I have an HD-ready TV, what do I need to get HDTV

    HDTV Tuners

If you just want HDTV OTA, what about the Samsung SIR-T150 for about $525. It has both RGB and component video output, and both Optical and coaxial digital output, making it a little more flexible than the RCA for not much more money. Chris

    HELP: HDTV reception

George, If you are using the Pioneer SD5x2-HD5 and the RCA DT100, both have VGA connections, so you would want to use that. Converting the RCA VGA (RGB) out to component and then using the component in on the pioneer will not improve the picture quality. If the converter is not of high...
