One thing I learned in my quest to be debt free (four months away!) is once you pay off your credit cards, CLOSE them. This is often harder than it sounds because you wouldn't believe how much CC companies will try to keep you with them (especially since you've proven you're a good customer by...
Big Spoiler:
I feel Whistler's coming back was just used as a plot device. I mean he was soley brought back to keep you from guessing who the "mole" was. And it worked too, I couldn't tell if it was Whistler or Skud throughout the movie, but after Skud revealed himself, 'W' was just kinda...
Woohoo! My prescription didn't change all that much. That's always a relief. They told me there's a new scratch coating out called Crizal which has a two year guarantee (if your lense gets scratched, they replace them for free), so I went for that. But no AR and I got very nice frames - the...
Thanks guys! So it's pretty much standard - scratch resistant and I'll probably go with Anti-glare coating. One of the coatings I usually get tends to wear off after a while and if you look at it in the right light, the glasses look splotchy. I'll ask about that this time.
I'm going this Friday to get an eye test for a new pair. I've heard before that there are certain coatings you *shouldn't* get, especially if you're a HT nut. So what recommendations anyone?
In case this matters, my vision is 20/800 (don't know the + number). I'm getting High Index lenses...
Snopes does a pretty good job of explaining it. Basically if you normally get say $1,100 back every year, this year you WOULD have gotten $1,400 because of the 15% to 10% reduction. The government just sent you that extra $300 early. So this year you'll still get your normal $1,100 back. But...
Hey, that gives me an idea. Why don't they do a remake of Clockwork Orange and put this movie in place of the one they used to "reform" Alex? It would be realistic; Alex squirming, screaming, toothpicks holding up his eyes, etc. :)
I have a P-II 400 with 256Meg and a Geforce 2 GTS 32Meg and I run RTCW in 1024x768 with everything turned up as well. No problems - smooth as glass. I agree with Jason - upgrade the Mobo and CPU before upgrading the video card.
Whenever I install a new OS, here's how I do it:
Configure the boot order in BIOS to be Floppy, HD, CDROM.
Create a Dos Boot disk using your current OS. Copy FDISK.EXE onto that disk.
Leave the floppy in the drive. Reboot. Run Fdisk and delete the current partition. DON'T CREATE ANOTHER...
It's funny how "worst days" stand out so clearly from the rest of your lives, but "best days" tend to blend in and merge. Maybe it's because we have so many "best days" and so few "worst days" that they stand out more. I'd like to think so, anyway.
Some of my best days:
1. The day I got a...
My worse day was in high school. My best friend called me and said that his father had shot himself - committed suicide. Then he and his mother came over.
Haven't thought about that day for a long time.
Something similar happened to my Brother in law. He was following this lady and all of the sudden she started slowing in her lane and finally came to a complete stop. He began to pass her on the left and she suddenly turned left, right in front of him. He completely totalled her vehicle and...
I got your point Paul, and I agree with you that the game is "challengingly realistic." I also agree that there WILL be a WTC game created someday. Maybe not in my lifetime, but I have no doubt it will happen.
It's just the way we as humans relate to an event. We wouldn't even have known...
I have the same problem with my Windows 2000 laptop. The network at my office uses DHCP, so I have to enable that and join a domain to be able to access their network. However, a consultant I work with isn't allowed to connect his laptop to our network, so I have to connect to his, which uses...
Well, it was an OK DVD rental. I know the kids tried hard to appear smart, but by the "car trying to run over the Creeper" scene, I was rooting for the Creeper. My sister kept saying "Come on, at least the camera shots were good!" And I do agree with that, there is great use of the camera in...
You're most likely going to get bad feedback from this guy if you don't refund his money. So I suggest you make a copy of this thread, your reasoning, etc and make a web page. When he leaves his feedback, post a link to the web page in your response. At least that will give future customers...
It was 61 degrees yesterday, 54 today. Sigh. We're already starting to get flood warnings. How about sending some of that cold this way! We want some snow! It's been five or six years since it's snowed in the valley where Portland is.
Hey Brad_w, glad you made it home in one piece. At least you have some good memories to share with us! :)
And as a non-smoker, it always cracks me up to hear smokers complain about getting lung related illnesses because of "smoking outside".
Hope your holidays were good (overall)!
There's a couple of things you can do.
First - abandon your existing Email address. I know it'll be a pain, but it's already on what sounds like a TON of mailing lists - good luck getting them all off. It'll be far easier to just let your friends and listservers know you're moving...
