Unsolvable PC Problem? Can you think outside the box?

Try and archive the files with zip, rar, or ace format. (there are utilities to do this in DOS also.) Save the archive to your PC and then unarchive the files one at a time with a different name. This should work.

Adding bass shakers to an HTiB...

Ok David. It's a Monster Cable 4 way speaker selector. Rated as protecting up to 8 ohms and 150 watts. (sounds like what you are looking for) It's in a purple box. The design is pretty hefty. All metal black housing so it weighs about 5 lbs and its pretty small for what it does. There is...

Palm Pilot and your Home Theater

Iain Lambert NOW were getting somewhere! A DVD Profiler output is a keen idea. Can you point us in the general direction to finding such a gem? Also do you have access to both owned, and wishlist material? Kim Donald VERY nice find! I am downloading that as I type. Do you have any...

Adding bass shakers to an HTiB...

In response to your first question. I do not feel that both the subwoofer and the bass shakers would be harmful to your reciever when connected to a good speaker selector. Most are rated at 100 watts. The load on your LFE channels would not be that great especially for movies. Now the...

Palm Pilot and your Home Theater

I've heard the same about the remote software. Very limited range. They do sell IR boosters that plug into the bottom of the Palm BUT then you have to use your Palm upside down... Sounds like alot of work.

Palm Pilot and your Home Theater

I carry this rather expensive Palm Pilot on my hip 12 hours a day and have only used it as an expensive address book/scheduler and a nice bar tending drink mix guide :D. I still have some memmory left on this sucker, so I was wondering if any one has any suggestions for Palm software that can...

    Pronto Remotes - Worth It?

I know this is a double post but I saw your post in 'Remotes' first. -- I've gotta vote for the Pronto. I have tried numerous remotes including the SONY RM-AV2100 and the Pronto wins hands down in every area from storage, compatibilty, ease of use. There is a large support group for this...

    Home Theater 101

I would like to add a magazine to the list. 'Home Theater' magazine offers some fine reviews of mid price and high end equipment, and a couple of months ago they started reviewing home theater installations of regular people. These reviews and critiques can be very helpful.

    Favorite Features on your receivers

How does that USB Audio input work? Plug and play. I use a PC with Win2K so it was just a matter of making sure the Windows USB drivers are installed. The USB device has to be selected as the prefered playback. Do you use a special program that sends the mp3's datastream to the receiver for...

    Favorite Features on your receivers

2 features that I like on my JVC. USB input and multi-room for audio. This has renewed an obsession I have had with being to control everything with one remote.

    JVC RX-9010VBK Review

Allow me to jump in and add my review also since it seems John and I purchased this reciever at about the same time. I purchased this as a replacement for my Kenwood DD reciever. I had never tried DTS before. My movie room system consists of a JVC RX-9010VBK receiver, Energy Take 5 speaker...

    Help with JVC-9010 and DD

Bill Will has it exactly right. Change the Digital Coaxial input to something other that DVD first. Please let us know if you have it working yet. I just got this reciever 2 weeks ago and have been enjoying the USB and multi room capabilities to the fullest. Later.

    Help with JVC-9010 and DD

I do not think that this is a contributing factor for a TV connection. Double check that you first changed the Digital Coaxial input to something other that DVD. This will free DVD as an option to use for the other digital connections. Then select the audio input as Digital. Let me know.

    Backlit Movie Poster frames--have one?

Can't say that I own one, but speaking from a display standpoint they were designed for double sided posters. Thanks for the link I have had an American Beauty double sided poster rolled for a couple years. Maybe now I can crack the tube open.

Adding bass shakers to an HTiB...

what you are asking is a bit more complicated. What you are interested in is the ohm load when wiring your speakers. This can be very harmful to your reciever. If you wire in series 2 8 ohm speakers you now have a 16 ohm load. If you wire the same 8 ohm speakers in parallel you have a now...

    Just entering the HT market

I too am always looking for the best that budget will allow. I have replaced all speaker wire with RadioShacks 4-Conductor CL3 speaker wire. PVC insulation, very pliable and with 4 condutors in one housing it gives you a couple options on wiring.

    Help with JVC RX-9010VBK

This may sound stupid but did you use both the Digital and Analog connections when hooking up your PS2. I did this with my DVD player and noticed the JVC reciever chose Analog by default.

2 other choices in your price range: Pioneer VSX-D810S JVC RX-9010VBK Both can be had for a bit over 300 bones shipped at etronics.com. I just purchased the JVC model myself after seeing the reviews at audioreview.com. Couldn't pass up the option of multi-room audio and USB input for...

    Purchased JVC RX-9010 Any thoughts?

Just purchased one of these recievers and I am awaiting shipment. I was on a budjet and choices were Pioneer VSX-D810S and this one. I felt that the extra features of the JVC were ones I would eventually use more and would not really need the extra rear speaker for my current setup. The...
