The immunity and cure are both the MacGuffin in the classic sense, and the premise of the question asked at the end. There's a continuum of how much a given viewer "needs to know" and show does more than the game, especially given that the show doesn't have to follow J&E the whole time. But as...
Bluetooth works well with Apple, since in their wisdom, they've included it as standard on even desktops for years.
But "tap with Bluetooth" only works well with hand-held devices. More importantly, what about all those (perhaps older) Windows computers without Bluetooth? You would still need...
It's easy to prove: cast a Youtube video or something that's at least a couple of minutes long. After it starts playing on the TV, put the computer to sleep (close the lid on the laptop, whatever) or disable its network connection (detach the cable, turn off WiFi). The video keeps playing.
The...
For its advertised functionality, it is quite simple. You want to watch Netflix or Youtube on your TV? You just hit the button. Future apps will support it the same way. Even for the secondary feature of showing the Facebook page in your Chrome browser on the TV, same thing.
The issues are for...
As I mentioned on the first page, if you think of the three things AppleTV does, Chromecast does only two. It does stream via URL sharing. And yes it does mirroring -- however:
It is rarely mentioned, but requires decent CPU power. Not a problem for recent "normal computers", but interestingly...
I've read that if your TV has HDMI 1.4 it can provide enough power directly.AppleTV does push from a device through AirPlay (1) with an already encoded stream stored on the decice, sent directly; or (2) with on-the-fly encoding, i.e. mirroring. It can also (3) pull content from the cloud --...
Right now, there are four episodes of Castle available -- three most recent and one more further back. I've been using the ABC app since the beginning, and there have been maybe five at most at any time.
On the front page of the CBS app is the list of Full Episodes -- I count sixteen different...
You can still have Java installed for "desktop" applications. The important thing is to disable the Java plugin in your browser(s), which enables the drive-by malware. Recent versions of OS X disable it automatically, and re-disable it if you haven't used it in a week or two.
I can login to icloud.com and see all my emails, which are also on my Mac and iPhone. But I've been a member since iTools, so maybe I am great-great-great-grandfathered in, or had some setting migrate along the way? Or perhaps it's a setting on her mail clients that is erasing the online copy?
The monorail station is still there, but everything else has moved. In the original footprint of the hotel is now Downtown Disney, so it's now the Downtown Disney Monorail station. The three towers that comprise the Disneyland Hotel are now further away, to the west. A little farther and...
I don't know what either of you are talking about. On my stock iPhone 4S with iOS 5, the keys are always all-caps. But the up arrow on the shift key is either a hollow outline, or filled glowing white when pressed (and with a blue background with Caps Lock). If you long-press the vowels and some...
I am running Lion off an external SSD right now. There is one more drive on the FireWire chain, but uses an AC adapter. The SSD is bus-powered, and is the first device connected to the Mac.
How much of that is because Windows still does not like to be installed on, or booted from an external...
Hibernating versus powering makes no difference to the hard drive. They both spin the drive down and off, then back on.
Don't bother shutting down during the day. Just close the lid and let it go to sleep. That's what it is designed to do. Theoretically, you can wait for confirmation that the...
I have done full recoveries from Time Machine. Worked fine. The important thing is that once the drive is plugged in and setup, it happens continuously and automatically. Processor resources should be minimal. And sure USB is slow; use FireWire or Thunderbolt (or USB 3).
Right-click the disc and choose Play. Depending on which representation of the disc you're clicking, double-click might also work.
With some players, you can run the app, and then from there Open the VIDEO_TS folder; or an IFO (info) or the first numbered VOB (video object, hint: they're huge)...
I believe the book does tie in John Wilkes Booth, but the movie left it out. I vaguely recall once Johnny Carson made a Lincoln assassination joke that fell flat, and he quipped that it was still too soon.
They did even better than that. In addition to expanding upon the existing endings, the Extended Cut has an extra ending. The new epilogue stuff was most welcome. And they filled in some of gthe big "wtf?" questions, which then yield more minor "why?" questions.
If the EC had been part of the...
Mostly. With a notebook computer, the keyboard half holds up the screen at an arbitrary angle. The not-as-rigid cover on the Surface can't do that, which is why it needs the kickstand. So for example, it's probably less comfortable on your lap, or you'd need an extra-long lap desk, or it might...
Did they give the physical specs in metric to obfuscate how they compare to the iPad?
If the Pro is "Full HD" 1080p, but the RT is not "Full", it might mean that it is 1366x768, the minimum for Snap multitasking. Pretty low resolution for 10.6" (16:9) now in the Retina era.
With ClearType and...
The higher 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 looked quite acceptable to me. The trick is that they still double everything (4X pixels) and then shrink down, instead of just scaling up. There are so many tiny pixels that the softness isn't that bad. Still, the middle optimal integral scaling 1440x900 is...
