Mark, what did you do, fall asleep? The replicators first showed up 39 minutes into the movie, and they left at 1 hour and 25 minutes - which is only 46 minutes total, and they didn't take up all of that time. With the movie at 1 hour 37 minutes, that's less than half of it. I'm only posting...
Hank - that decision is clearly only for time-shifting of material on TV. The original premise was that everything that was taped would be seen within 1 week, and then recorded over. Most people only had about 10 tapes that they used over and over. I don't know if they have changed their...
James, the only reason that you haven't been arrested yet is because the studios figure that you aren't worth the effort. It is legal for you to tape shows to watch them later, but nobody ever gave you permission to tape and keep them. Glenn
I think that the problem is just that we have way too many laws. We end up catching people breaking the silly ones, and this way our law enforcement agencies don't have the time to work on capturing the real criminals. Glenn
By this time it might be really hungry and thirsty. I am sure that you have a few items in your garage that will do the poor animal in! On the lighter side, you could nail the corpse to your mailbox post. I'll bet you that no one would ever hit it again. (You might not get any more mail...
As was noted when this war started, some people don't have any reason to upgrade because the studios have slowed down on releasing new catalog titles, and until they start releasing stuff in quanity liked they used to do, sales will remain small. I don't have any HD player, but I have a place...
Yeah, you're dealing with 4:3 video drivers. Your monitor should have come with a driver. 1440 x 900 is actually 16:10. Most monitors are this way so that you can still have the Windows bar at the bottom. Widescreen monitors are so much better! Glenn
I don't know what is going on, but have you registered it and gotten all of the updates? Some of them really do fix problems. After that I'd call the store up. Glenn
Dave, they don't want to sell analog cable anymore because they MUST phase it out within the next 4 years. Having analog and digital service for the same price is a very good thing. If digital service was even $10 higher, they could force everyone to go digital by dropping analog service...
Are any of the "other" workers that are now not working getting unemplyment insurance? (Like the stage hands and such). Or, how long will it take for LA to go belly up? :) Glenn
Ain't going to work. Just because a channel broadcasts in HD doesn't mean that anyone can get it over their CATV. Your best bet is to look at your last cable bill, go to their online site and look there first. Depending on where you are, the cable companies are converting everything over...
Whenever a new technology emerges, the "first" buyers are not only paying for the machine, but the new technology too. That is why every year or so, the prices on DVD players has gone down. After the 'factory' pays for the expenses it had in order to manufacture the new equipment, they have a...
There is no reason for anyone to double-dip on any title, unless you want it in HD. I am not advocating that anyone trash their SD collection - crap I have about 1600 disks, and they aren't going anywhere. I was going to get Dragon Wars in SD, but I think that I am going to wait on that now...
Consider the stores today that carry all 3 formats. I am sure that they would love it if there was only one format again. They would be more than happy to dump the SD & HD formats without any problem. Any existing stocks in warehouses could be distributed to the stores, just to get rid of them...
IMO, I don't think that some of you understand what is going to happen. As soon as the war is formally over, the only new releases will be on BD. There will be a massive SD close-out sale, and once they are gone, there will be no more. By the end of this year, BD players will be down to about...
I am not sure if this is what you want, but if you right-click on the icon, and go to properties, and then customize, the bottom section is for changing the folder icon. Glenn
There doesn't seem to be any consistancy to what the studios are doing. If 'X' % of the people around in the '60's watched the 'Fugitive', and say 10% of those viewers (that are still around) want to buy it on DVD, doesn't the studio already have a rough idea about how many people will buy...
There are 300 & 400 models out too by Sony & Pioneer. Sony once had a model out that would even flip double-sided disks, but they stopped making that, I think. They need to come out with an HD or BD unit! Glenn
Actually Joe, no. At least not where I am. I got a 1080p DTV and I only have a subscription to analog cable (no box). So just for fun I had my TV do an analog & a digital scan for channels. I get about 85 analog channels, and it already had those, but then it found about 250 digital channels...
It would be nice to get those in 1080p, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I know that some of the stations aren't exactly loaded, and don't want to buy just the digital equipment by the deadline. However, once they do get going, if one station in an area broadcasts in 1080p, I think that...
In Leno's case wouldn't it be - he'd have to sell off some of his cars? :) Gee, its been 1 month already. I am so glad that I have DVD's to play. As long as we're talking about money, who in their right mind would do some work (of any kind), and get paid less than your work was worth...
Ok, so which is harder - writing a show or acting in it? Doesn't the cast get residuals every time a show reruns? Everyone involved with the show should get paid the same way - maybe not the same amount, but at the same rate. If an actor gets $2 everytime the show airs, shouldn't the writer...
