It's a known problem with the logic 7 processing. Even Lexicon users experience it. SMR forums has some info on it (can't remember where). I noticed it back in February. I have a first run AVR8000, bought in Canada. A processor reset doesn't fix the problem permanently. I've also noticed it on...
Gabriel, also notice that DTS nor DD signal are not lit up. What kind of source other than DTS or DD has 5.1 coming from a DVD through Coax digital? I don't know.. When I apply L7 over 5.1 (DD or DTS) both lights are lit (ie: DD and L7) on the AVR8000. Suspect.. -gh
The only reason the AVR8000 is capable of apply L7 over 5.1 sources is due to the dual processors implementation. The 7200, 525, 520 etc.. don't have the processing power that the AVR8000 has. This was info I'd received from H/K when the AVR8000 first came out. Given the current processor specs...
Hey Guys,
Those looking for a pic of the 7200... Plus some other cool new stuff from H/K.
Harman Kardon 7200 Pics
If you click on the front pic of the 7200 you can clearly see the following details active.
Dolby Digital stream
DVD source
Coax digital input
Speaker indicators...
I suspect highly that the 7200 will be capable of overlaying L7 over a 5.1 source. I've seen pics on AVS that show the 7200 overlaying L7 onto a 5.1 source (DVD, COAX) with a 7 speaker setup. -gh

The 7200 is the small size and weight as the AVR 8000. Some differences:
75 Amps as opposed to 85 Amps
Less wattage
Improved component video switching (50Mhz as opposed to 30Mhz).
See the detailed specs from H/K's site:

Scratch that.. I figured out what the review was saying about DVD Audio on the 755V.. I don't get it.. The Sony 755V is capable of playing DVD Audio? No where does Sony make mention of this. Could somebody please clarify? Also, are there any dedicated DVD Audio players out there? Or is...
Robert, I'm using 7NT's for main as well as 1NT's for rears and center. I don't see the 9NT's being a problem for the 8000 amps nor the Denon or Pioneer receivers. -gh
Matt, I actually did a comparison between the Denon and H/K when I initially bought my 8000. The two systems were in different stores, hence different sound characteristics. Denon using Paradigm Studio speakers and the H/K using B&W NT speakers. The Denon was a nice package, but at the end of...
There are 4 'Audio' inputs, 6 'Audio/Video" inputs, 4 Digital Coax input, 4 Digital Toslink input, 2 Digital Coax ouput, 2 Digital Toslink output, 8 channel direct input, 3 component video inputs, 1 component video output, etc..etc..etc..
There is no PHONO input, component video is only 30...
Gotta love that gold plating, cool colors (looks nice) and those solid metals binding posts.
Seriously though, I don't care about the numbers (wattage, amperage, mileage.. whatever). I trust my ears. I love the multitude of connections. I found it rather straight-forward and intuitive to use...
Piers C, You are absolutely right about the weight. I was comparing it to the DVP 900. My bad.. The 999ES is half the weight of the 9000ES. Interesting. -gh
Maybe I'm going a little overboard here.. but as far as technology goes ---> I'm still using my DVPS7000 player. More cool stuff.. The player is capable of displaying which layer your on (on a dual layer DVD). It has the video bitrate and audio rate meter. Changeable speaker...
Some excerpts from the manual: Adjusting the picture items in "Memory" You can adjust each element of the picture quality individually. ~DVE (digital video enhancer): sharpens or softens the outlines of the images: "Soft" is available only for DVDs. ~BNR (block noise reduction)...
Paul, try some new speakers. See if you can borrow you friends new B&W's (after they've been broken in of course). You can buy the 8000 or seperates but at the end of the day if you speakers / placement / room are not ideal then you've wasted your money. BTW, I own an AVR8000 and it's my...
You might wan't to check out the ASW 675 as well. It's actually smaller (physical dimensions) - using a 10 inch long throw woofer, sealed and 500watt plate amp. The ASW CM is technically identical to the ASW675 just a different look.
I too have one. Took a while (2 weeks) for it to break in properly. Sounds great. Currently paired up with my B&W CDM NT speakers. No issues with either music or movies. -gh
