I'm bringing this thread back because this seemed like as good of a place to ask as any. Does anyone know the significance of the hair over the face in japanese culture? It was mentioned as something from Japanese culture in one of the Ring 2 extras.
I've recently noticed that the border from my TiVo menus is burned-in on my Hitachi widescreen set. It's expecially noticable on the vertical line on the left side of the screen. Would displaying a white image for a while help reduce this at all? The brightness and contrast are and have been...
Seems like the coupons should be associated directly with the card. Once you clear a certificate, instead of mailing it out of having you print it off, it's just added onto your account. Of course with this, they wouldn't have people losing them or forgetting them altogether.
I would like to replace my CD changer and DVD player with one component, so a multi-disc DVD player seems to be the logical choice. I've been seeing some mixed reviews on a lot of these so I thought I'd ask around here. I need the following: 5 or more discs Progressive scan DVD-R and +R...
So are all sound cards basically created equal for this? Obviously high quality isn't a concern since these are just tapes to begin with. Also, on breaking up the tracks, another option is to record the whole thing as one long WAV, then break that into smaller tracks within the editor. I've...
I've seen plenty of threads on converting VHS to DVD, but nothing on capturing audio cassettes to WAV -> CD. The WAV to CD part I can do just fine, but I know nothing about the capturing. I just want to take a cassette deck, and capture through RCA inputs on a sound card. My current sound card...
Anyone looking to pre-order Enter the Matrix should check out the EBGames rebate deals. $15 rebate with strategy guide $20 rebate with Animatrix DVD $30 rebate with both The only problem as I see it is that they process all 3 separately so you pay $15 in shipping charges, which is pure...
If you have a Playstation 2, check out http://www.broadq.com/. I've had this for about a week and only played with it a few hours, but so far I love it. It not only allows for MP3 playback, but other audio formats, videos, and slideshows of pictures as well. With a wireless controller it's...
Actually, the Game Axe plays Famicom games and needs an adapter the play NES, and by then the cart is sticking 6 inches out of the machine, so moving much at all kills your game. It's a neat system, but not all that reliable. After replacing the contacts on my "toaster" NES, it's just as good...
How do you figure that? It's the same deal they've had FOREVER except it's Zelda instead of the other games, and they threw in a $10 cable. So effectively it's a $10 discount. I don't see the big deal. Looks like a good move to me because it seems cheaper for people on the fence about buying a...
Does anyone here have experience with the Minolta Xi (soon to be Xt) and/or the Canon S400? I have my choice narrowed to these two and can't seem to make up my mind.
Dave, regardless of which one you buy, 10% off is crap! Buy a "gaming" giftcard fp]or however much you wish, open it up, and use the $5 off $19.95 coupon instead!
What type of compuet do you have? A lot of vendors pre-install a lot of crap that runs all of the time. Maybe uninstalling some things would help you out.
I'll be using security, plus they won't have any file sharing enabled (they wouldn't understand it) so all they would really be vulreable to is someone using their bandwidth. Since they don't understand/need sharing, I keep their systems locked down. Thanks for the infor.
I'm going to be setting up a wireless network for my parents. I've read that the router needs to be above the other wireless components. Mine just happened to pan out that way. My parents cable connection comes into the basement. If I hook the router up there, will I have trouble getting a...
Have you tried the Logitech wireless controllers? They didn't make them cheap, but they sure don't suck either. I have the PS2 one, and if I could find it for less than $70 - which is ridiculous - I'd have the Xbox one too.
I agree that it's incomplete, but since you can't EVER use a remote to put the disc in, how hard is it to hit the eject button (which also turns it on) when you put in the disc? Now the only problem is the slight inconvenience of not being able to turn it off. Definitely not something to have a...
The Trance Vibrator from Rez is also supported here, it just wasn't sold here. They left the code to support the device in the American version - it would have been more work to take it out. If there are any other weird peripherals over there, I'd bet they'll work with the US version of the game...
BrianB hit the nail on the head. If someone releases a standard USB controller, nothing will work with it, and then everyone who buys it has a cow. The USB port will likely always be for specialty controllers.
When LCDs were first getting popular, a lot of them would rotate 90 degrees to put the monitor on "portrait" mode. I don't see this feature mentioned any more. Do any of the newer models still support this?
I use WhereIsIt as well, and it is GREAT to catalog my data CDs, but it won't help for this. The end result I want is an easily generated report that will list album cover, artist, album title, year, and possibly a track listing. This report would then replace the bookshelf of CDs I currently have.
Maybe I'm just missing the option, but I've tried quite a few of these now, and I still can't seem to find a way to generate a report with CD covers. Am I just blind, or will these not do that?
Thanks for the response Brian, but I still see this as a backwards "upgrade". Most MSN users are pretty casual users, and are going to be the type to prefer a big printer icon rather than menues and/or keyboard shortcuts. The junk mail has been getting worse, and I don't see why they took that...
