    Monk Season 4 review yet?

This season has one of the best bonus features yet, but you'll probably still be disappointed: still no commentaries or extra promos or a more extensive doc. Here's my review: http://grouchoreviews.com/index.php?...isplay&id=2602

    open letter to UNIVERSAL

The vintage catalog titles should go without saying (but thank you for saying them, all the same). And what of Fierce Creatures, people? Never issued on DVD in widescreen, let alone anamorphic widescreen. How about an SE? This is a highly underrated film, unfairly bashed in comparison to A...

Quiz Show--Are we getting a SE any time soon?

Unfortunately this may never be a priority title for Buena Vista--I think it's always been considered a financial underachiever with "no stars" but damn if it isn't a god movie (with a horrible release). A real catch-22: I boycotted buying it because it's gotten such horrible marks as a disc...

Marx Bros. Collection-Worth a blind buy?

DVDFile has its Marx reviews up. I humble submit that I also now have reviews up of all 5 discs organized by full-length reviews of all 7 films. You'll find all this at www.GrouchoReviews.com. Hello, I must be going.

Marx Bros. Collection-Worth a blind buy?

The first three of my reviews are up at http://www.grouchoreviews.com: they're of Opera, Races, and Night in Casablanca. The rest will follow, hopefully tonight.

    Where's The Day After DVD?

I have the Brazilian DVD (passable)--got it in a Yahoo auction. I hope the MGM one will be a SE. The Day After was a phenomenal success, at least domestically. It was (as mentioned above), and remains, the top-rated telefilm EVER. For Meyer's comments on this and the reaction to the film...

Who wants Whose Line is it Anyway on DVD?

Very little in the TV on DVD area would make me happier at this point than "season sets" of Whose Line in production order (Twin Peaks Season 2 is #1). No "Best Of"--season sets. I know this won't be for everyone (personally, I'm an improv. aficionado and teach it to high schoolers), but it...

Billy Wilder DVD Collection--what's the deal?

Right--I must've been reading a Canadian review site. It's hugely disappointing, but not particularly surprising, that MGM hasn't upgraded The Apartment, etc. *sigh* The print media tends to be a) oblivious or b) charitably "ignorant" to such things regarding the studios which "feed them"...

Billy Wilder DVD Collection--what's the deal?

I'm sure there's a post on this buried somewhere, but the search function isn't working. Thus far, I've only found a review of Private Life of Sherlock Holmes--any reviews of the set? Like everyone else, I'm dying to know if all are anamorphic or if this is a slapped together set with only the...

Lawrence of Arabia (1 Disc) -VS- (2 Disc) Set?

I know this has been kicked around vaguely, but does anyone know who to contact--perhaps RAH--about trying to convince Columbia to make this a Superbit deluxe with as many (or better yet, more) extras as the first release? Don't get me wrong...nothing would make me happier than getting the movie...

Very Muppet Christmas specs. Please remain calm

I know you don't want people to rush to anger, Jeff, but I really don't think it's a rush to judgment to believe the OAR is widescreen. It was shot this way for HDTV broadcast, and anyone watching the special could tell that it was cropped--sometimes awkwardly, as in the angelic mirror...

The Complete Mr. Bean 4/29 - not so complete after all?

Here's what I sent A&E Home Video--please flood them! I was profoundly disappointed to discover that "Complete Bean" has been edited and does not represent the complete original programs. This does a disservice to the art and artists, as well as to the audience to whom these programs mean a...

    Criterion/Universal/WB (?): The Sin of Harold Diddlebock/Mad Wednesday (Sturges/Lloyd

I don't know who owns the rights, but I suspect this is in serious need of preservation. The Stanford theatre in Palo Alto could only secure a 16mm print (from the Sturges archives, I think) to show for their recent booking, which I generally take to be a bad sign for the future of a film.

South Park Season 1 - clicking in the audio?

I haven't yet received mine, but I must say that, if this is true, I am deeply apalled. I remember multiple reviews complaining about the audio glitches in some of the early volumes of SP, which contributed to my not buying them at the time. Surely the studio must have been aware of this problem...

Homicide Life on the Street full season on DVD?

I, too, would happily buy every single episode, but it's going to be an uphill battle getting these given the nightmarish music rights clearance problem it poses. Therefore-as has been noted above--fans will have to be very LOUD for this to happen.

***Official Custom Cover Request Thread II Thread***

For Lynch fans who've ordered from davidlynch.com... Howzabout "The Short Films of David Lynch"? And, soon enough, "Eraserhead"? For that matter, how about CD inserts for the Blue Bob album? These would make this Lynch fan very happy!:D

Received my David Lynch.com Order! (Packaging review)

Lynch mob: Gotta love the Lynch. Spent many dollars at his site. Unfortunately, my two boxes from DL.com were taped to each other with much packing tape (and also significantly beat up by UPS...here in CA, I seem to have bad luck with that). Even more unfortunately, while I appreciate...

    PARAMOUNT: Twin Peaks Pilot DVD?

As always, much love from us home video fanatics, Martin, for your time, effort, and forthrightness. I hear your messages of patience in this thread, but do keep us posted on any clarifications that become apparent or any developments. Twin Peaks fans have waited a looong time for a decent...

HTF REVIEW: "Twin Peaks: The First Season SE DVD" - REVIEW UPDATED PAGE 2

Ron: I add my felicitations that you have joined the Twin Peaks faithful...it is truly a great series, and now you can taste the frustration we've all had over New Line's delay of Fire Walk With Me, which is unfortunate but apparently necessary to get the fabled deleted scenes featuring the...

    EXPERTS--screenplay rights question

Wacky question. For those who know of such things, would the screenplay of "His Girl Friday" be in the public domain? I'm pretty sure the film is in the public domain, hence all the cheapo releases of it. I've been contemplating doing a stage version of it for a community theatre instead of...

    WILD AT HEART (consolidated thread)

I hope the Blue Velvet extras will include the IFC Independent View Lynch interview. I was pleasantly surprised that the American Pimp disc from MGM included the Hughes Bros. Independent View interview. A hit and miss show, but would make a great extra for Lynch completists, even though Blue...

Top 50 votes for Paramount Poll

sadly, I think mine was the only vote for It's All True, the Paramount-distributed documentary reconstruction of the infamous Orson Welles project that resulted in Magnificent Ambersons being butchered by the studio in his absence (I think it was Ambersons...). This one really needed the...

New Line - Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me Deleted Scenes Please !

John-I admire your passion and tenacity on this. I agree wholeheartedly and ache for this and the other Lynch releases. If only I had more time and resources, I would mobilize others in a mass mailing campaign, but I'm totally swamped. Thanks for fighting the good fight! I'm sure one day...
