I'd stay away from Sharp. I just got the 52" D62, and upon turning it on immediately noticed the 6" wide shadow running the vertical length of the screen. I had no idea about the "banding" problems before purchasing, but this is a real concern.
I got the same message at Layoyo, and they cancelled my order after three days too, but they still had the special T-shirt/DVD collector's package in stock, so I ordered that instead. It was about $12 (U.S.) more than the DVD alone, but I got it really quickly in the mail - less than a week with...
Yes, that's the same disc I have. I'm thinking this is a problem with my DVD player, not the disc. I'm using the Apex A600 - it's a real shitbox, and this is only the second time I've experimented with the region switching capability of the player - the other time was when I played my R2 Eyes...
I just got this DVD, and when I popped it in there were no black bars on the top and bottom (yes, I'm using a 4:3 TV :frowning:). Instead the picture appeared stretched vertically to fill the screen. I played with the output modes on my DVD player: letterbox, widescreen, P&S, and I got the same...
The Wild Bunch Saw it once, hated it. Tried it once more about 5 years later, and hated it again. Better Luck Tomorrow Words can't express how overrated this movie is.
I second Lars' opinion. I would very much like to see an accurate, well researched picture (or book) from the terrorists point of view, detailing the events from conception up to, but not necessarily including, the attack itself. I also think we'll start seeing films with fictional...
I don't believe Arnie is 6'2" despite what his bio says. I saw him do a cameo on FOX NFL's pregame show and he was absolutely dwarfed by Chris Collinson, Howie Long, and James Brown.

Beyond the opening credits, I don't like watching The Wild Bunch either. Obviously, many film buffs disagree, but I honestly believe it's one of the most overrated films in the AFI top 100, and does not belong on the list. It may have been influential, but I would never consider it a better...
quote: I defy anyone to show me a director who has a better understanding of composition within the 2.35:1 frame than Carpenter or Speilberg
I really noticed this ability during one of the early scenes in Assault on Precinct 13, when Carpenter uses the side view mirror of an ice cream truck...
I don't even know if Snatch is eligible, but here goes:
1. Snatch
2. Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samarai
3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
4. O Brother, Where Art Thou?
5. Traffic
6. Beautiful People
I didn't see much else in the last year that was worthwhile to me, but I didn't see...
