I'm gonna ride this thread too :). My 65" Mitsubishi DLP is throwing up white dots everywhere and it's time to replace it I guess :(. I haven't kept up on displays so not sure where to start.
It's not just one, there are multiple highly detailed reviews that go into issues with the TV with multiple follow ups of repair attempts, firmware updates, the works. So yeah, I thought I'd ask.
I don't really have a budget, just common sense. I mean I'm not going to spend $50,000 on a 46" TV. I just want a good display for the money I spend that won't have to be replaced in
When I go big, I go DLP. I love my Mitsubishis for the price/real esate. However, I need a TV for another room with about 9-10' viewing distance which says 46-50" or so. I don't want a TV that does much more than turns on and has an awesome panel for viewing the sources I send to it. It doesn't...
Shit canned DirecTV for Prism. Saved almost $100 a month too. Got a whole house DVR without a ridiculous additional charge either, and can record more than 50 season passes which I've been promised was coming in a software update since I got my non TiVo DVR in 2005.
My 8 year old 57" Sony Projection TV has finally failed. Seeing that it's eight years old, and I can't do much around 1080p on it I figured instead of finding a place that would fix it time to spend some money on a new one.
I have settled on the WD-65837 based on what I could find in my...
When I first moved to North Carolina the installer told me there wasn't a line of sight. After being 'stuck' with cable for a few years I tried again, this installer was able to find a nice line of site without any issues. When I signed up, I asked about the 'price for 12 months' thing and...
My $0.02, take it for what it's worth. Speakers: Find a reputable shop that has them set up in independant rooms and go listen, find what you like speaker wise, find how much it costs, and then go find the rest of your HT. As far as HDMI switching, don't let that be your driving feature...
My $0.02. Denon 1706 as a recevier, or maybe the 1806 for 10 more watts per channel and a few features. Then look over at SVSound.com at their new speaker package. you can get 5.1 for $899 I think it was, looks like a great deal and based on past experiences I've read with their other...
I really enjoy the 'stop you theives' intros that have started now on my recent DVD rentals. Along with not being able to fast forward by 'hey theives we're watching you' warnings and all sorts of unpleasant intros or adds for crappy movies tacked on to the front of good ones. I don't know a...
Having realized after getting my new Outlaw 990 and the cabling options that I've slept since I last understood the interconnects of home theaters I thought I'd ask a question. Is there an advantage in quality comparing Component, DVI, and HDMI? Meaning I ordered DVI because my TVs have...
Not sure if this was the right place, but I wanted to post my review of the new Airport Express that Apple relased that lets you 'push' your music to a stereo of your choice, or to powered speakers. I've got it hooked up and I'm playing both 224KB AAC ripped CDs as well as 128KB iTunes Music...
I leave it in a widescreen mode quite a bit when watching regular television. I don't notice much picture loss and they definitely do edge stretching and not center stretching because the tickers on CNN have a tendancy to speed up slightly at the edges. But otherwise I don't notice much of a...
I'm looking at an upgrade to my theater receiver for the first time in about 5 years. While perusing the various products I'd be willing to try a lot of the online sites tack on 'recommendations' that include the Monster signature series of power conditioners. Are these things worth it...
I recently aquired the Toshiba 30HF83 HDTV flat tube television for my downstairs area above the fireplace. I currently have a Sony 57" Projection HDTV (57W600) upstairs in my main 'theater' room but they are going to be doing some remodeling behind the room so we knew we wouldn't be able to...
I bought a new TV (Toshiba 30" HDTV) for downstairs and then picked up the Toshiba TiVo H400 DVD/TiVo DVR for it. Since the TV is backordered I hooked it up to my Sony 57" HDTV Projection screen upstairs just to set it up and check it out. The only thing I did was unplug the cables...
Actually I just found the Toshiba 30HF83 which appears to be perfect. only problem is I can't find it anywhere. Best Buy has it on their website, but apparently Raleigh, NC stores dont' carry it and it is 'outside the delivery area' Crutchfield has it, but it's backordered. Amazon ships it...
I have a nicely built cabinet over my fireplace (that I don't use) and it has an opening that is about 35" wide with the doors out of the way. I'm trying to find the best featured HDTV ready that I can fit in there, and I'm not quite convinced I want to spend the money on a plasma screen...
I recently got a new Audi A4 Convertible. I agonized over the choice of built in Sirrius and built in XM. I chose XM. Why? I don't know, thought XM sounded cooler or maybe it was the PLayboy radio offering or maybe it was $9.99 a month was something I could swallow. Anyway, so far in my...
Saving John Malkovich Space: 1999. God I actually watched this as a kid. Andromeda Series. Not because I disliked it, because the seasons started to suck so now I have an unfinished series because I won't pay for the rest. Charlies Angels: Full Throttle Men in Black II
RE: Cheesy that wasn't Cheesy when you were young. Space 1999 did that for me. i remember being facinated with the show when I was a wee one. I bought the first two box sets and went to watch the first episode. oh. my. god. How cheesy was that. It was so bad and my wife and her...
NO OAR = NO SALE. I'm not sure of the studio, but I returned Drop Dead Fred because of no OAR. I didn't buy Remo Williams because of no OAR. They look terrible on my 57" Wide screen. And it's not like I only get a movie here or there. 700+ Movies and counting.
Dangit. When I ordered this the details of the DVD weren't available yet. I just went back and cancelled this. Dang morons. What the heck are they thinkin?
I thouroughly enjoyed Nemesis. But then I've liked all the TNG cast films with the exception of Generations. That one felt rushed/pushed/hurried. Nemesis stands on its own. Of course, they broke a few Trek rules here and there. But for a film, it's a good one.
