    48 kHz vs. 44.1 kHz

Its a Yamaha sound card (dunno the model no). Its supposed to be a "professional" type sound card... I don't know a whole lot about its specs. The noise from the PC is terrible on an analog connection, that's why I use the digital output (sp/dif). Thanks for your input though.

    48 kHz vs. 44.1 kHz

Thanks for the reply. I looked up the info, its the soundcard thats doing the resampling to 48 kHz. Is that good or bad?

    48 kHz vs. 44.1 kHz

Hello all.... I basically have two sources for audio, one is of course a regular cd player (used only as transport) and the other is a 30 GB hard drive that stores CD ripped into WAV files (NOT MP3's). The DAC being used is the receiver's (Sony DB-930). Both are digital connections (toslink...

Anyone know the name of this software??

Ur right, my mistake. Didn't think about it before asking! but your right it couldn't possibly measure freq. response. I guess all it did was measure the frequency content. thanks anyways. -sk

Anyone know the name of this software??

A WHILE back, someone here directed me to this computer software that measures the frequency response of a speaker without using a microphone. It requires a SPDIF connection between the computer and the receiver. I deleted it and can't find it online (I forgot the name!) Anyone know what I'm...

    MMG offer

I second Andrew about giving them a chance. I took his advice in an earlier post :) (search for magnepan) I just got them last week and was a little unsure of how my Sony DB-930 would handle them, but so far they are doing great! I use them mostly for music and I like these better than the...

    Magnepan MMG's and Sony DB-930

More Questions! for Andrew and Westly Do you guys use any exotic cables with your Maggies or just regular home depot stuff? Don't wanna start the eternal cable dispute :) but just want to know what you use....! I do have Kimber 4TC's (I know, overkill my tiny energy mains) which I'll use...

    Magnepan MMG's and Sony DB-930

Thanks everyone, for the info. That makes me feel better. I won't be running all five channels at the same time with them, since I'm getting them just for music, so seems like I'll be ok. Only thing is I'll have to remember to flip the switch in the back from 4 to 8 ohms each time I switch...

    Magnepan MMG's and Sony DB-930

Hi All, I have an Energy Take 5 system and, I'm planning to add an extra pair of mains (Magnepan MMG's) for music. I've heard people say that the Maggies need a lot of power, so I was wondering if my Sony DB will be ok with it?? Are there any other hints/tips on setting up the maggies...

"MP3 Decoding" in Harmon Kardon - question

"To take advantage of the AVR 310’s MP3 capabilities, simply connect the PCM output of a computer’s sound card or the PCM output of a portable digital audio device to either the rear panel Digital Inputs or the front panel Digital Inputs. As soon as the digital signal is available, the MP3...

"MP3 Decoding" in Harmon Kardon - question

Hi All, I had a question about MP3 decoding which the new HK receivers tout. How is it different from any other regular SP/DIF input on the other receivers?? The reason why I ask is that I've been listening to MP3's on my HT for a few years now, and it goes from my PC's spdif out to the...
