My bare ceiling is jealous of the hardware on my walls. The Onkyo would give me a reason to dress them up. Thanks!

Possible to set the HD-A1 to output HDMI audio and component video

"I'm wondering if the current player can be set to output the audio through HDMI while still leaving component video active?" Would anyone who has an A1 try this for me?

Possible to set the HD-A1 to output HDMI audio and component video

Thanks for the help, Alon. If I get the HD-A1 I can use the analog 5.1 (my Pioneer does have the inputs). I'm just concerned if I wait to jump on the bandwagon, the HD-A2 doesn't have analog 5.1 outputs only HDMI for TrueHD. My receiver's manual isn't clear if it will convert HDMI back to...

Possible to set the HD-A1 to output HDMI audio and component video

My receiver has and HDMI input by my HD TV (Toshiba) only has component inputs. I know the A1 has 5.1 analog outs but if I sit on the fence until the A2 comes out; I'm wondering if the current player can be set to output the audio through HDMI while still leaving component video active? Then...

Component video on HD-DVD/Blu-Ray vs. HDMI

My question is slightly different. On the Tosh HD-A1, will SD DVDs be upconverted to 1080i over component or just over HDMI? Or are they NEVER upconverted? If they are upconverted over HDMI ONLY; and I pass the HDMI signal through a Pioneer ELITE receiver as input, then take the output...

    To-may-to or To-mah-to?

Mike Frezon is such an asset to this board; I thought we should know how to correctly pronounce his name. Is it 'M-eye-k' or 'M-ick'? :) Seriously, Mike. Is it 'Freeze-on' or 'Frey-zon'? Or maybe some other pronunciation.

Advanced Pioneer MCACC and the Behringer Feedback Destroyer

I'm presently running a Yamaha RX-V1400 with a Behringer Feedback Destroyer hooked to an SVS sub to flatten out those bass frequencies. I've just ordered a Pionner Elite VSX-74TXVi which includes the advanced version of MCACC. They claim help with standing wave issues, reverb, etc. What I'm...

    FS: Yamaha RX-V1400

Hi all. I'm in the throes of upgraditis so getting rid of this unit with all accessories (except maybe the AM Antenna - may have been lifted by my son). Used in a smoke free environment, works perfectly. Specs may be found here. I'm on the good traders list here and you can see my...

Will receivers convert HDMI to component?

With the upcoming high def DVD players supposedly in the pipeline; I understand they'll only output the high def signal via HDMI. MY HDTV is a Toshiba with only component inputs. Anybody know if the upconverting receivers that have HDMI input will pass a 1080 signal through the component outputs?

    Seinfeld FYE Rebate

My son just picked up the season 5 box that includes a $20 rebate from FYE. The rebate form says you must send the original UPC code from the package. However the shrink wrap also contains the FYE UPC - do they want that or the one that we would need to cut off the box itself? You know how...

Is it bad to leave my sub 'always on'?

I had always heard that you want the sub run at full volume because the volume control acts as a limiter and having it all the way to "10" allows the amp to operate at "normal" power. Thus, one would be limited as to raising the receiver's sub level since you need to set it to blend well with...

Is it bad to leave my sub 'always on'?

This issue I have with auto on is that sometimes the threshold of audio it needs to detect to turn on. I leave my SVS on 24x7 because it won't auto on if I'm listening to a real low volume level.

As seen on TV - Glarebuster

Chris, I think the product is to REDUCE glare, not add it. Plus, in reading the FAQs on the site, it looks like it's for direct view TVs. Don't think I would want to try that on my RPTVs lenticular screen. ;)

The Digital Bits - Good Grief

The Digital Bits - Good Grief

Maybe because it gives us insight into where Bill is coming from when he talks about DVDs. Is he an industry insider, snorting coke with Nick and Jessica? Is he a geek? Is he a regular guy? I agree maybe his site isn't for everyone, that's the beauty part. Take what you want from his site...

The Digital Bits - Good Grief

But, Michael, it's all of a piece. Bill's personal items are the "spices" that give TDB it's "flavor". The 'net is so big, there's something for everyone. I'm sure there are lots of DVD related sites that are just dry recitations of statistics, links to reviews, etc. IMDB comes to mind. But...

Looking for a Syntax Olevia 26" LCD HDTV Monitor (LT26HVX) at a B&M, not Circuit City

I'm in the market for a second HDTV for the bedroom and this model caught my eye as the best for refresh rate, contrast, and price. My local CC is out of them and wondering if anybody knows of another B&M that may carry them. Note, I'm not interested in the sister set LT26HVE (it's only a...

Crash (Sandra Bullock/Don Cheadle) seperate Widescreen + P&S DVDs from Maple Pictures

The back of the case doesn't state its aspect ratio is 1.85:1. It states " Formatted from the original 1.85:1 version in which the film was shot". Sounds like in both the theater and on the disc, it's matted down to 2.35:1.
