We actually do "running changes/upgrades" on the drivers and amps on a fairly regular basis. Both the 15 inch and 18 inch have been updated a multiple times since they were introduced. The update can be for performance purposes, longevity purposes, assembly consistency, or even aesthetic...
I must have watched that 100x(at least). Such a good flick. The first time I watched it was with a freind of mine who played bass for a (sort of) bigger rock band. They had videos on MTV if that means anything lol. Anyway. He was saying how much of it was actually JUST LIKE touring. I...
Meh, if it's still doing it for you, I wouldn't worry about upgrading. I found a link to some measurements on the v2 servo15. You can see the highpass(22hz?) and how it affects the FR <25hz. https://hometheaterhifi.com/volume_12_3/paradigm-servo-15-subwoofer-7-2005-part-1.html

Those are almost 25 year old tech..:) But Tom Nosuaine considered them a "reference" product in their day which is high praise. Without getting into every nuance a subs's performance can be separated three ways. Clean otuput. Frequency response, overall sound quality. A modern high quality...
Hsu is very good. All of their subwoofers will offer excellent sound quality and value. Once you have it optimized I would expect it to sound excellent with both movies and music.

Back in the olden days, ported subs often earned their reputation as "good for movies, bad for music". To be honest, even today there's plenty of examples that do the same( the majority of ported subs perhaps). And trust me, some of my old designs would get caught in this net as well.
Some...
That is always great to read..:)
Whenever someone asks "What should I play first" when they are waiting on their order to arrive my response is "grab your favorite concert discs" Zep, Rush, Blue Man, Cypress Hill, anything that floats your boat".
I don't understand some of the posts I...
Very much so, yes. I admit I didn't expect much but the results were very good. I tried to find my old before - after measurements but they aren't on this PC. A very good and affordable(to most) auto solution...I don't know of anything better. I grabbed one of the newer X4 processors recently...
That reminds me of how I felt when I was asked to evaluate the Anti Mode stuff. After measuring YPAO, Mcacc, the new accu-eq, and a few others...let's just say I've learned not to expect much under(under 200hz anyway). Color me pleasantly surprised. I was emailing them a few hours later...
If you know anyone who has one and uses REW they should be able to do a transfer function easy enough to show you if there's really anything proprietary about the mcacc mic. I'd bet it looks a lot like the old rat shack meter graph..:)

Either way. Shouldn't make any difference if the sub has a true time delay. The advantage for doing it as the receiver is you can sit in the key seating and experiment with all of the delays versus getting up and turning a knob back and forth..:)
Here is the electrical of the room size. The...
The smaller the room the more severe the modes will be. Square makes them even more pronounced. You're going to have issues here regardless of placement.
Time delay is more to help with the main speaker + sub integration.
Be sure to spin the "room size" control all the way to SMALL too...
Here's a blast from the past. I probably posted these on this very forum circa 1999-2000(?).
Reminds me of a quote from Pirate Radio.
I made a terrible mistake. I realized something, and instead of crushing the thought the moment it came I... I let it hang on, and now I know it to be true...
The S3000i has been a steady seller since introduction. It is really a attractive combination of size, deep bass extension(often 7-10hz) and a violent amount of mid and upper bass "punch".
Here's a few shots I grabbed of the slightly larger S3601 being assembled recently.
Well, as I said, that could have been other variables in play. Unless you are comparing two identical subs(except for driver orientation), with identical ancillary equipment, identically calibrated, yadda, yadda...
And even in the above scenario is it the driver orientation itself that causes...
Carpet won't have any effect, certainly not in a "it's muffling the sound" sense..:)
Well, I should preface that with...With a properly engineered down firing sub.

The base designs on the svs models where mainly for style points. Nothing much to do with any performance considerations. Carpet will need to be several inches thick to even BEGIN to have any effect on a subwoofer...and more like 5-6 inches thick for it to be of any audible concern. We actually...
The big variable is really what value the end consumer attaches to a USA made product. For the large majority, we simply "sort by price, low to high".

Hi all,
Here are a few photos of our subwoofer and speaker cabinets being assembled. Thought some might be interested in a "behind the scenes" peek.

Bummer, I was hoping you had bookshelfs or small towers and we could try to find a pair of towers with built in subs for you to replace them.
Do you have any wood working skills/tools? You might be able to put together a darn good system in the $500-$750 range that you could in wall/in...
I'd stick to what you have. I don't see anything in your price range being an improvement over the 610. And you may very well find the in walls to be a downgrade. Of course your convenience factor needs to be factored in as well. I'm sure its no fun to move the subwoofer every time you want to...
Not with inwalls. You want to keep the electronics out of the wall for safety reasons. Here is one example of the amp for the DT subs you listed
