Jeff, -R/+R are only write once. Once they are finalized they are compatible with nearly all newer DVD players. -RW/+RW are rewritable DVDs and are compatible with some DVD players. Usually the DVD player info will tell what formats it can read. The bitrate that you record at makes a...
I saw this announcement: "DIRECTV Delivers First Nationwide Distribution of ESPN2 HD ESPN2 HD to LAUNCH on DIRECTV SEPTEMBER 9 El SEGUNDO, CA and BRISTOL, CT August 24, 2005 - ESPN2 HD, a high-definition simulcast of ESPN2, will be available for the first time nationwide Friday, Sept...
OK, I did some more research. You can read all the Directv business notices on their web site and click on the "Investor Relations" link near the top of the pages and go to the news highlights section. Maybe this is old news but here it a bulletin from January about their expansion plans...
Ron, I misunderstood your post. I thought you meant that we would not be able to receive the LOCAL channels in our area such as FOX, ABC, NBC, etc. That some how these would be singled out and no longer available. Actually with the new coding all the channels will eventually be converted...
Is this true? We won't be able to get locals with the new encoding & new machines? There is a huge base who rely on "locals" over the satelite since we live in a rural area where locals don't come in good OTA. There will be a big migration to Dish Network if this happens. I can't see them...
I did keep my Fed Ex paperwork for proof. I would hate to get a $1000 charge! D* was great they way the quickly got me a new unit. What is the Tivo guide verses the grid guide and how do you change between? I just love recording and timeshifting HDTV!! The US Open looks good right now...
I have spent days reading posts about DVD recorders before I just ordered the Panasonic ES10- $167.95 at Onecall.com. Sweet deal. I am replacing a Philips 985 recorder which died. Philips was the leader in +R, +RW recording. Since I still have a lot of blank +R I wanted a recorder that would do...
I got my unit from eBay brand new a couple weeks ago and love it. When I tried to activate it I got an overheating message and D* determined that it was a bad unit and even though I didn't get it from them they sent me out a new unit 2 day Fed Ex. and it works great. they also will give me the...
Some of you BenQ 7700 owners please post what you think of it. How does the picture look with DVD, HDTV, cable/satellite? What size screen are you using?
John, You should rethink putting the projector on a table. The BenQ 7700 can be mounted 2" from the ceiling with a flush mount and that puts the center of the lens and the top of your screen around 5" down from the ceiling. The fan on this projector is super quiet and it can be mounted above...
Yes I am very excited about getting this projector- probably in a few months as my HT gets closer to completion. At least I know where it will be mounted for a 100" screen that I am planning. And with the manual online you know all the specs and what cable to run. An eBay seller has some...
I think it will pay to experiment with it. Maybe it would be the first or second row. It might be nice if I got speakers that were dipole/bipole switchable to see which I like. I am used to monopole very directional speakers. I may not be used to the diffuse properties of dipole and I've heard...
I'd like to add a question since I am new to dipole/bipole and want to replace my monopole surrounds. I am expanding my theater to have 3 rows of seats (14 total). 12' x 20' room. If I place dipoles right next to the front row which will be my main viewing area, how will that effect the back...
I don't know what makes it official but we need to get more dicussion going on this awesome new affordable 720p DLP projector! It is the first High Def 720p DLP projector to drop below the $3000 pricepoint. It can be gotten for $2600 online. It boasts a 2500:1 contrast ratio, HDMI input and the...
I think the HD package is worth the $11 month but then I don't get any local HD in the country. The Discovery HD programs are awesome as well as HDnet programs and HDnet Movies and what really makes it worth it is the Sunday Night Football on ESPN HD! I get to watch my Vikings twice on there...
The audio drop outs are usually sparse but sometimes every 3-5 minutes on some programs- like when my wife watched trading spaces the other day. I recorded Behind Enemy Lines and watched about 20 minutes of it and it had 2 audio drop outs. The lip sync problem I can notice on most channels and...
Anyone else experiencing audio drop outs and lip sync problems with Directv? I just switched from Dish Network to Directv and am having these problems. It doesn't matter if it is coax or optical digital output on my new Samsung SIR-TS160 HD receiver. I notice the lip sync problem also on my...
Last year was my first NFL game in HD and it was awesome!(Titans playoff game) This year there are 3 NFL games per week in HD- nice improvement!(MNF, Sunday Night Football and one CBS game) On DirecTv with the HD package $10.95 a month and NFL ticket I get all but MNF- cause I don't live near...
One game a week will be in HD on CBS, they will decide from week to week which one. If you have DirecTv and NFL ticket you will get this game each week. ESPN HD will have Sunday Night Football in HD each week- available on DirecTv's HDTV package and soon to be on Dish Network and on some cable...
DirecTv just started offering the HD package on July 3rd at $10.99. I doesn't seem logical that they would add HBO HD and SHO HD after they had just boxed and advertised the package.
ESPN is now offering the ESPN HD channel which will include Sunday night NFL games!!! DirecTV worked out a deal with them and has been broadcasting it since July 1st. They are still negotiating with Dish Network. (see ESPN.com) ESPN says that 720p is more costly to produce on their end but...
Minneapolis does broadcast ABC in HD but it is about 130 miles away from me. That is way too far to get a signal right? The local uplink station for ABC around here... I doubt they are putting it out in HD but then I wouldn't know how to find out.
Dennis, I live in Central Minnesota (Wadena) and I doubt any stations around here are broadcasting in HDTV. I could I find out? I don't even know where the stations are located.
The CBS Titans/Raiders game looked great. I did have a few brief picture and/or audio drop outs. And the singing of the national anthem was way out of sync with the picture. Anyone else notice this? I got the signal from the DISH Network. Otherwise it was awesome. I wish Dish provided ABC in HD...
And for further proof, here is a good site that lists HDTV programming on all channels each week. It shows the game will be in 1080i glory!! Can't wait.
