    Criterion's / A Hard Day's Night 4K UHD Mistakes !

I can confirm both issues at 1:23:14 and at 1:24:43. I have always wondered how so many discs with problems get to the market. Does no one even bother to screen the file prior to finalizing and then again screen the discs prior to shipping? Surely, even someone with a minimum wage salary could...

LG to unveil new lifestyle TVs at CES

Didn't LG TVs have passive 3D glasses to begin with? I really fail to understand why 3D support cannot be included in at least the premium TVs. But then again, LG stopped supporting DTS, even DTS passthrough. So, I suppose anything that can save themn a buck, they will do.

Universal's 2nd Wave of BR Flipper Disks

The point that needs to get across to Universal is that a double disc set is better and more useful than their silly and unwanted flipper discs. If the other studios can take into account the customer's preference, why can't Universal? Their attitude is driven by their greed to cut costs and to...

    USHE Announcement: Elizabeth (Blu-ray)

Thank you Universal, for sparing this title from the ignonimity of the dreaded "flipper". Which makes this a definite buy, for me.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Michael Jackson's This is It

Mike, I promise, you will not be dissapointed with the audio on this and listening to MJ's music in spectacular 5.1 lossless audio itself justifies the $23.99 listed price on Amazon. Although, I am sure if you wait a week or two, the price will come down by atleast a few dollars.

Blu-ray Review HTF BLU-RAY REVIEW: Michael Jackson's This is It

I saw this in the theaters and I had wondered then, how great this is going to sound on BD. But, even I had not anticipated how great the BD actually sounds. For anyone who has even a slight liking for Michael Jackson's music, this is an absolute must own Blu-ray, for Sony has truelly achieved...

USHE Announcement: The Jackal (Blu-ray Combo)

Would love to have this on BD, but a flipper is a 'NO Sale' for me. Hopefully better sense will prevail at Universal and they will release this on standard BD some day.

A Few Thoughts About....Blu-ray/DVD FLIPPER DISCS

Actually it is not always an issue of them not being able to appreciate the better quality of Blu-ray, but rather it is an issue of them not being able to understand that the reason for the lower quality is their having put in the disc the wrong side up. Bottom line is, it is one more thing for...

A Few Thoughts About....Blu-ray/DVD FLIPPER DISCS

Either way, it is I, the consumer, that has to accomodate the flipper, not for any convenience or added value for me, but rather for the convenience of Universal. Sorry, but as a consumer I think it is more than fair for me to question what is in it for me, rather than for me to have to justify...

A Few Thoughts About....Blu-ray/DVD FLIPPER DISCS

And why is a flipper necessary for this? What's wrong with the Disney & Warner approach of including a seperate DVD?

A Few Thoughts About....Blu-ray/DVD FLIPPER DISCS

I am willing to bet good money that there will be thousands of cases where people such as my wife, will inadvertantly end up watching the DVD side instead of the BD as used to be the case with Warner's Widescreen/Fool Screen flippers. Most importantly, almost everyone speaking in favor of the...

A Few Thoughts About....Blu-ray/DVD FLIPPER DISCS

You are overlooking a very important fact, that while reading a novel one insures very good lighting. Whereas in the case of Home Theaters, the lighting is generally kept to the minimal which makes reading the small print on the mettalic curved surface VERY, VERY difficult.

A Few Thoughts About....Blu-ray/DVD FLIPPER DISCS

I am a bit confused with this thread. Why is it that we consumers, are having to explain and justify to the seller, why we don't like or want 'flipper' discs? Should it not be the other way around? Shouldn't Universal have to convince us, as to why we need or should want a flipper? In any case...

Oppo BDP-83 is on it's way!

You need to boost the sub-woofer channel by 10 - 12 db on your receiver. Also, using the coaxial/optical connection for plain old DD & DTS is a good idea.

Angels and Demons Bluray region locked ?

Cannot comment on this (Angels & Demons) title, but I have had similiar experiences with Sony Blu-ray titles in the past. 'RV - Runaway Vacation' and 'Horton Hears A Who!' are two Sony titles I remeber that although marked as Region 'A/B/C', refused to play in my Region A player. Someone at Sony...

Gladiator Blu-ray - release date 09/01/2009 - Read before buying!

Absurd is quite an understatement. Whoever is responsible for this should not only be embarassed but probably ought to loose their job over this. If Paramount is going to treat potentially huge selling titles such as this so poorly one can only imagine what to expect from them for other catalog...

HK Flix Firmware update for OPPO Region-Free

The link provided in the email would have been nice. Anyhow isn't this really old news? Or does this refer to a new hacked firmware? ie. not the 'beta 601' firmware, which has been available for a long time now. PS: Link to hacked firmware -->

HTF Special Review: Upcoming Oppo BDP-83 Profile 2.0 Universal Blu-ray Player

I am using the 5.1 analog outputs of the Oppo BD-83 and have no problems with it at all. In fact the Oppo analog outputs sound a lot better to me when compared to the analog outputs of the Panasonic DMP-BD55 I was using earlier.

HTF Special Review: Upcoming Oppo BDP-83 Profile 2.0 Universal Blu-ray Player

Once again Oppo proves how consumer friendly they are. Within days of my complaining, coincidently I am sure, about the one single gripe I had with the BDP-83, ie. the way it handles Subtitle On/Off, they have released the new beta firmware that addresses this issue. The 'pop-up menu' for the...

Panasonic dmp bd80 vs LG bd390?

The Oppo BDP-83 is indeed a great Blu-Ray player. It probably is the best player available if not it atleast is the best value player there is.

HTF Special Review: Upcoming Oppo BDP-83 Profile 2.0 Universal Blu-ray Player

I now have had the Oppo BDP-83 for around a week and I must say I am more than happy with almost all facets of this awesome piece of electronics. Although I do have one major gripe with how the Oppo handles Subtitles On/Off. Considering that lots of titles, specially titles from Universal have...

HTF Special Review: Upcoming Oppo BDP-83 Profile 2.0 Universal Blu-ray Player

Those thousands of Laser Discs I have sure do look shiny to me and I am quite sure far more Laser Discs have been sold to date than HD-DVDs, thus I suppose Oppo ought to provide support for Laser Discs too. I sure as hell would buy a player in a jiffy if it supported Laser Discs. Not that I...

When will the BluRay firmware updates be over?

I think that frequency of firmware updates will keep reducing almost to the pint of not having any after a while, but this will be totally hardware related. Basically when a new player comes out there will be firmware updates and then as the hardware becomes more mature the updates will stop or...

What can we do about Warner Bros?

To avoid any uncalled for debate, let's just assume that all 'lossless' is the same, irrespective of codec used. Thus, if the sound quality is the same then why not use 'DTS-HD Master Audio', which has the advantage of having a superior 1.5mbps DTS core for backwards compatibility and does not...

What can we do about Warner Bros?

This is really good news and goes a long way in removing my aversion to Warner BD releases. Thank you Warner, for as much as some might consider these a small issue, for me they are a very 'major' issue. Although it is almost shocking that it took Warner as long as it did to figure out what...

What can we do about Warner Bros?

Personally I think they ought to simply use 'DTS-HD Master Audio' on all Blu-Ray titles. This way all titles would automatically output lossless audio for those that have systems capable of handling it and for the rest it would automatically output the core 1.5 mbps DTS audio. This would also do...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ A History of Violence -- in Blu-ray

Isn't 'New Line Cinema' now a part of Warner and controlled wholly by them? Anyhow, 'New Line' in my opinion has always had great Home Video releases. In fact they have always had atleast one of the best, if not the best audio/video quality on their DVD and BD releases. Personally I think this...
