It's been a while since I posted... I've been traveling for the last four months (I'm presently in India) and haven't gotten much of a chance to catch up on my films. Here's my list... the order may change, and I still haven't seen a lot of important releases (Syriana, Match Point...
I decided to make the trip to Toronto this past weekend, and it was definitely worth it. It was my first time attending the festival, and I tried to make the most of it while I was there... I saw 6 films, though I really wish I'd stayed longer. - Shanghai Dreams - L'Enfer (Hell) - Capote -...
How is the Spanish edition? How is the transfer... is it really 4:3? I currently own the Ocean release (with French subtitles), however I would much rather own a copy with English subtitles.
I was discussing "Million Dollar Baby" with a friend of mine who noticed that the film possessed a trinitarian theme. Not being familiar with Christian theology, this was something that I had not even considered, though it now seems more apparent to me. The film's three main characters can...

I apologize for starting this thread, because it has deviated from its original point into a debate we've already debated hundreds of times on this forum. I'd just like to offer an example, which may or may not be effective. Here goes... If I spell words incorrectly, and willingly continue to...
Jonathan, I appreciate the fact that you're playing the devil's advocate here because this is making the discussion a lot more interesting. Ultimately, I think that the main point we disagree on is that I believe that Pan-and-Scan exists only to accomodate those who are unwilling to watch...
Whoa... I think that some people are missing the point of my original post. Never have I accused P&S consumers to be inferior in any way to those who purchase OAR. My point was simply to debate the profitability of releasing P&S films with multichannel audio tracks. In the long run, I believe...
I don't believe that these two classifications are mutually exclusive. A film can be both, though it will most likely be labeled propaganda for simplicity.
I understand your point, but my view on this is slightly different... Pan-and-scan is about deleting "extraneous" data and then amplifying the remaining portion to compensate. So, the audio analogy for pan-and-scan would be to eliminate the rear channels and then increase the volume of the...
