    "Dolemite is my name......." (OAR)

I gave this disc a quick spin recently (due to all of the new found interest this thread has generated), and I must say I forgot how many scenes had the microphones lowering into the picture - hilarious!

    "Dolemite is my name......." (OAR)

I don't know when he recorded the trailer voice overs, but they never cease to make me laugh out loud. They are included on both the Dolemite and the HT DVD - but I remember discovering them many years ago on a compilation VHS trailer tape called "the Best of Sex and Violence", which I would pay...

    "Dolemite is my name......." (OAR)

Ok, here are some personal favorites: "Guard, you can take these cheap mother ****ers and wipe your a** with 'em!" Creeper: "I'm so bad I kick my own a** twice a day" Intro song: "Now some folks say that Wille Green is the baddest mother ****er the world has ever seen..." And who...

    "Dolemite is my name......." (OAR)

I have these as well, and the Human Tornado is almost unwatchable. The trailers for these look better that the films themselves. The original rental VHS tapes from way back when had some of the cut footage intact, but when they were redone for the box sets and had new cover art they lost a...

Buying a Mitsubishi widescreen - should I get the built in HD or not?

Dick, thanks for that HD satellite link! If I can get in on that deal I will have some extra cash for other upgrades. I am leaning towards the silver plus model after doing some research - but I also like the platinum model. Thanks again for all of the great replies.

Buying a Mitsubishi widescreen - should I get the built in HD or not?

Thanks for all of the replies - all great points. My next question (especially for those in the Chicago area) is where did you guys find the best deal? The guy at Tweeter told me $2500 for the silver plus (ws65413) hd upgradable model and $3100 for the gold plus integrated model. I have heard...

Buying a Mitsubishi widescreen - should I get the built in HD or not?

I am looking at a 65 inch gold plus, platinum or silver plus. The silver plus does not have the built in hdtv receiver, and is the cheapest of the three. My question is: is there any benefit to the built in unit when I am going to buy the directv hd gear anyway to get the satellite hd? I have...

    Anyone have Party Girl?

I was going to pick this one up for my wife as a stocking stuffer flick, but I see on some sites that it is full screeen and one other site says anamorphic ws. Anyone know for sure? Thanks for any response.

Does Anyone here own Puppet Master Box Set??

I picked this one up when it was released (2 years ago?), and my part 3 sound only comes from the left speaker, as well. Very frustrating since part 3 is my favorite of the set. I complained to an employee of the store I got it from and was told that it was most likely too small of a release for...

*** Official Morrowwind (X Box & PC) Discussion Thread

OK, I trapped a golden saint in a grand sould gem. I took it to the mages guild for a weapon enchant (daedric claymore) - but when I select it on the screen it never lets me pick an effect, just to select the weapon and the gem. I cant buy the enchantment without picking the effect. Anyone else...

Does anyone know how to use the gem feeder spell? I tried doing it on a recently killed golden saint and nothing happened. I hear about people making awesome swords with the trapped golden saint in a soul gem, so I wanted to try it. Could it be that my guy is a fighter with no major magic...

Hamburger: The Movie and other cult 80s comedies

I think there was a thread like this one a few weeks back that brought back some great memories - and taught me that I am not alone in my love of these classics: Hot Moves - classic getting laid comedy Last American Virgin - great movie, but sad ending Joy of Sex - one of the best 80's...

Bad news for Better Off Dead availability?

I just got back from the new Comp USA in Lombard (Chicago West) and they had the most un organized DVD shelves I have ever seen. They did not have either BOD or TS on the shelves, so I was going to leave - but I asked a salesman and he got me a copy of each out of the back. Pretty good deal at...

Bad news for Better Off Dead availability?

Andrew - which BB? I work in Oak Brook and usually go to the Lombard BB on my lunch hour to pick up my Tuesday supply. I will hold off if this is the one you visited.

    Chessy 80's movies

I second Joysticks as some prime 80's cheese - and I thought I was the only person who remembered it. Now lets see: Hardbodies, Surf 2, The Beach Girls, Joy of Sex, Last American Virgin, Hot Moves, Secret Admirer, Preppies, Screwballs, Spring Break and all of the "Partick Dempsey Classics"...

Anyone done the VAS quest yet? I have a few problems while trying it with the person that you are supposed to meet there. I have found tons of response on the elder scrolls board, but it crashes every few minutes lately. Thanks for any reply.

    Waxwork (1988) and Waxwork 2 (1992)??

I caught a little bit of W2 on cable the other day, and was reminded of how much of a classic it really is (the Bruce Campbell character is awesome). Both of these are great movies, and DVD purchases for me would be a no brainer. And I second the vote mentioned earlier for Night of the Creeps.

For all of the RPTV players like me, I made a big improvement to my Morrowind experience - jacking up the brightness setting on the tv. I posted earlier about not being able to see in the ruins when looking for that cube thing, but then it hit me. My Sony 53" tv was calibrated for movies, so the...

I am currently having some trouble finding the "cube" that the fighters guild guy wants me to retrieve from the ruins. I can get in to the ruins, but it is so damn dark in there that I can't see anything. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Will Barfly 1987 come to DVD?

One of the greatest films of all time! I have been waiting for this on DVD since DVD became a format. Mickey Rourke is awesome as Henry, and Frank Stallone has a great performance as Eddie the bartender. Those fights they have are great. Classic Henry quote to Eddie - "quittin' to you would...

    Dellamorte Dellamore (AKA Cemetery Man)

I still have my Cemetary Man LD that I bought on sale for $15 at a Suncoast about 5 or 6 years ago - but it is full frame. I agree with all of the comments here - great movie that some people dismiss as a gorefest without having seen it. I would be all over a regoin 1.

The Dolemite Collection on Mar 19th!

I have the older Dolemite and Human Tornado DVDs from a couple years ago - are these newer ones going to be different? Dolemite is ok, but the Human Tornado looks like someone is fast forwarding all of the fight scenes - is this how it was supposed to be? The Human Tornado trailer shows some...

Atlantis: Why I Hate Movie Theaters

I feel the same way about most theaters, and unless it is something I absolutely HAVE to see - I just wait for the DVD. But, I also went to see Black Hawk Down over the weekend at the old York theater in downtown Elmhurst, IL. For those who haven't already guessed, the York is one of those...

What did everyone get for Christmas for their Systems???

I did well - my wife got me a brand new Pronto 2000 and some Boston Accustics speakers. Oh, and my Mother in law got me: JP3, Pearl Harbor, Scary Movie 2, Apocolypse Now Redux, Made, and Twin Peaks. But rather than playing with these things I am at work thinking about them...

SACD,DVD-A DEAD due to analogue outs?

Keith, I have read that the 775 is a good sa cd player, but a shitty cd player. Do you have any advice on the latter? I am asking because I would like to try sa cd out for some of the reasons you had mentioned. I used to be a pretty serious audiophile, but then home theater came around and I...

Is it just me, or does Circuit City have the worst DVD selection?

Most Circuit Citys do suck, but in some areas they are not too bad. Example: I used to live in Tucson and I still visit there 1 or 2 times a year - worst DVD selection ever. They have hardly added more space since I first started collecting dvds in college - 1997! I live in Chicago now (west...
