It's in an armoire, so when the doors are open, the fan's noise level is a little annoying. I think the cabinet sort of amplifies the sound. I'm sure this isn't an issue when it's on a stand. Also there's a bit of green push. But for $1,900.00 (CDN) the KDFE is a great TV. I also looked at the...
I've had 2 4Runners (2000 V6 & 2003 V8) and they are bullet proof. I just saw a reliability ranking for mid size SUVs and the 4Runner was #1. My wife had a 2000 Camry (4 cyl.), it was OK but I wasn't overly impressed. There were some minor annoyances that the dealer didn't correct. Mechanically...
I was at Costco (Canada) and they had a 37" Wega Plasma for $2,800.00 Canadian. I went to Sony's website and can't find it in either the US or Canadian site. I did see an e-tailer (US) that had a similar model going for $4K US. It can't be the same but it sure looks the same, has kinda a glass...
Hi My daughter wants a Nanon for Christmas and a mini system. Instead of the mini system I think she'd enjoy a docking station better. Any suggestions? Ken
I too am shopping for computer speakers. I'm trying to decide between the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1, or 2.1. It really boils down to how much the 5.1 set-up is. I'm not sure if I would use it a hell of a lot, but it would be nice to have that option. A local dealer told me they were expecting a...
Does anyone know how to easily retrieve a broken RCA pin that is snapped-off (flush) on my Sub-in jack on my Servo-15? My wife was moving my sub, while I was out of town on business, last week. I just discovered this and I'm pissed. Do I have to remove the amp panel, and if I do am I able to...
Why is there no interest in this topic here at HTF when it's off the map at AVS? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=234296 Just wondering why no one seems to care, it seems like BIG news to me. Ken
Hi, Has anyone checked-out the "HD info" channel on the Bell ExpressVu channel guide? I guess the second satellite in online because there are now 9 channels(2 more coming soon)at 82 deg. and 3 at 91 deg. The 6000 receiver must be used of course, but is an elliptical dish req'd or a 2nd...
Hi, I really want a decent 2 channel set-up for my living room. I'm partial to B&W, since my HT is made up of them. I was initially thinking about a Bryston B-60, but after speaking with my dealer, he was not keen on the passive pre-amp section. He sells Musical Fidelity integrated amps, and...
Thanks Craig, I know the 60wpc would be more than adequate for a speaker like a CDM 1 or N805. It's for a living room, not a concert hall.;)Do you happen to know the MSRP? There's only one Bryston dealer here in Sudbury, although Toronto is only 4 hours away. Ken
Hi, I've been thinking about getting a 2 channel system for the living room. I already have an OK CD player, Rotel RCD-951,(will do for awhile) that can be moved from the family room. I've started reseaching 2 channel integrated amps and the Bryston B-60 looks like the piece for me. I would...
Serge, I have had a pair of 7SE for about 4 years, wonderful speaker. The 7NT has a Nautilus-type tapered tweeter that reduces standing waves. The mid-range is basically the same and the mid-bass driver on the NT has the mushroom dustcap that makes the driver more rigid. The NT also has the...
Hi, If I was to invest in an HD satellite receiver that doesn't have DVI output, would it be obsolete when and if regulations are put in place. I have a non DVI set 57HX81, and if I bought an ExpressVu (Echostar) model 6000 would this receiver still work later?? Ken
Tony, I know Bell ExpressVu, Canadian satellite provider, is beaming it down on one of the HDnet channels. By "off air tuner card" do you mean over the air? We don't have OTA HD stations where I live. I know the fellow from whom I'm borrowing it from gets HD on his set via satellite...
Hi, I'm borrowing a Bell ExpressVu/Echostar #6000 receiver for the Super Bowl on Sunday. I have a Tosh 57HX81 and I'm wondering if there are any special settings, for either the receiver or display. I know I must use the colorstream component video connection and aspect ratio selection(on the...
Same problem here with my servo-15. I just added little bits of cardboard (my fixtures do not get so hot as to ignite them)between the rim and the drywall. Try using the Avia Sub tones to find rattles in the room, then you can eliminate the vibrations as you walk around finding them. Ken
Hi, I've had B&W DS6 surrounds for about 3 years now. I bought them at a really good price knowing full well that I'd replace them eventually. I'm now getting the upgrade itch and I would like to switch to the CDM SNT. The rest of my speakers are CDM 7SE, CDM CSE, and Servo-15 driven by a...
Hi, The Paradigm (Ontario) Rep was in my neck of the woods last weekend. All he had were pictures from CEDIA, but he did have some verbal description. The cabinets are made in Taiwan (I think) by the same manufacturer that does Revel's cabinets. Improved drivers and crossover networks, of...
Hi Howard,
Congratulations on your Paradigm Ref purchase. I also have a Servo-15. In regards to your dipole placement, I have B&W DS6 and I have them ever so slightly behind the ears. I was initially seated in the null but found that I didn't even know they were there. I suppose that is...
Troy,
The CDM 7SE are all right in bass response. I had them for 8 months or so before I bought the Servo 15. I use the X-30 crossover for 2 channel as well as HT, and it certainly provides a heck of a lot of punch. They are however more than adequate for 2 channel.
Ken
Thanks Michael,
Actually my "rack" is an antique hutch, I should have taken a shot of it. You can see the edge of it on the left on the "front stage" shot. The rack section of the hutch is a tall 17 1/2 " wide cabinet with a tall door. It is also finished in a light cherry type finish that...
