The Beatles caused the disintegration of mankind

Currently this site seems to be down. Thank goodness I copied the content a few minutes before, just in case something like this happened, so that I could make sure a few of my Beatle friends had the opportunity to be amused by this diatribe:) There is so much funny stuff in here...I really...

42" Plasma - Panasonic EDTV or Dell HDTV?

Definately go with the Panasonic. I bought one a couple of months ago (upgraded my 65" Widescreen Toshiba RPTV) and absolutely love it. I also spent much time comparing the ED sets with the HD sets and IMO there was not enough picture improvement to justify the added cost. I don't care about...

    Dead DVD Titles!

Interesting thread...gotta check out my copies of any discs that are mentioned as possible candidates. Last year my copy of Carlito's Way stopped playing in any of my players (since I was wanting to upgrade to the new release I just trashed the old one and picked up the new one)...a few days...

DVD Review HTF Review: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (Highly Recommended)

Missed it in the theater...you did have to be quick! Watched the DVD this afternoon, and although I pretty much knew that I was gonna like it...simply exceeded my highest expectations by a mile. A beautiful, unusual, resonant, and emotionally charged film. Easily the best I've seen this year...

What's your favorite time period for pop music?

Easy....'77-'79. Punk hit and new wave was swelling, music was vibrant and alive. It was an incredibly exciting time musically! Here we have some newly arriving artists and some others who were at the peak (to me) of their careers...Elvis Costello, Graham Parker, Blondie, Joe Jackson, The Clash...

George Harrison's concert for bangladesh--is it avalible on dvd?

I'm waiting for an official release of this DVD. Really great concert would sound awesome in DTS. Billy Preston's performance of "That's The Way God Planned It" alone is worth the price of admission!

Criterion's The Battle of Algiers & John Cassavetes: Five Films announced!

Man, I can't WAIT to get the Cassavetes set! An extraordinary filmaker who has been woefully under-represented on DVD. I only wish Mikey and Nicky was included in the set.

Sugarland Express: Will this have DTS?

Highly underated...one of my favorite Spielberg films. I'll be very happy to finally replace my laserdisc. Since I spent quite a bit of time on differents sets of this picture, I'm really hoping for extensive supplemental material!

Bands/Singers on DVD that blew you away!

Electric Light Orchestra's Zoom Tour Live is BY FAR my favorite concert DVD. The audio/video, production values are top-notch and the performances are incredible. This DVD is the concert DVD that I measure all others by.

DVD Review HTF REVIEW---House of Sand and Fog

Just finished watching House of Sand and Fog this morning. An extremely powerful film, which includes, without doubt, three of the greatest performances you'll see this year...or any other year. I haven't seen Mystic River yet, but it's difficult to imagine a performance that topped Kingsley's...

The Ongoing Survivor 8 All-Stars thread

If simply continuing on is the goal, I suppose you're right. However, if WINNING the game is the goal, then I'd say you have about a 100% better chance to win if you break Rob and his alliances than you do if you allow them to remain and grow tighter. I mean, does it really make any sense to...

The Ongoing Survivor 8 All-Stars thread

Oh, we don't want to piss off Rob!! Lex and Co. made another really stupid move in keeping Amber. Wouldn't it have been exactly what you would want to do, get Rob so discombobulated that he ended up raging and making mistakes that would have gotten him crosswise with his tribe members? What...

Little Murders - excellent black comedy coming out on June 1st.

Little Murders is a wickedly funny little film. One of those more obscure titles that I've been waiting years for release on DVD. Thanks for the information...I didn't even know it was happening. "COME AND GET IT!":)

What Three Albums Would You Most Like To See In Hirez?

I'd take many of those already listed, espceially: Abbey Road, Low, And Then There Were Three(very underated), 2112, Close To The Edge, Crime of the Century, Secret Treaties, Eldorado (Wow...this one would be cool)! All GREAT choices. I'd also love.. Catherine Wheel - Adam & Eve ...if...

Any news on a possible "Tin Drum" reissue?

Checked for this title a couple of times last week on EBAY. Whoa....I ALMOST became one of those people who happily pay exorbant prices for an OOP title, blissfully unaware of the shiny new and improved version that is about to materialize! Last saw this film around 15 years ago and various...

House of the Dead: Worst film ever?

I'll follow ya right over there, Garrett and vote for what is EASILY the worst film I've ever seen in my entire life. One good thing did come from me seeing this putrid thing though...probably for the rest of my life, anytime the question comes up about the worst film ever, I won't have to...

House of the Dead: Worst film ever?

I've no doubt that these are some terrible films, but I've never heard of any of them and doubt any had theatrical releases...there are hundreds of similar DTV titles out there which are probably just as bad. HOTD, on the other hand, was given a theatrical run and I just saw the DVD being...

House of the Dead: Worst film ever?

I agree with you 100% Garrett! This is the biggest piece of S*** ever released. I was never so pissed off watching a movie as I was during this one. Can't say I wasn't warned though, but you think "it can't be that bad"...IT CAN! I will probably attempt to return it to FYE next week (yes...

*** Official "THE LIFE OF DAVID GALE" Discussion Thread

After renting this DVD last weekend, this thread caught my attention. Wow, some of you guys REALLY hated this film! I gotta say, while it wasn't the greatest film ever made....it certainly wasn't one of the worst...nowhere near as bad as this thread would have you believe. It kept me entertained...

    Billy Bob Thornton's Lost Movie

I remember first hearing about this film years ago, and being really excited about it. It was BB's first post-Sling Blade directing gig and featured an interesting cast (Thornton, Laura Dern, Diane Ladd, Andy Griffith, Kelly Preston, Jim Varney, Ben Affleck, Jamie Curtis) and story: Plot...

    Oscar season begins

I see that CM is currently "rotten" on the Tomatometer. Of 6 reviews, 4 are rotten. Of course it's still VERY early, but who knows? At the very least, it appears that it will probably be receiving mixed reviews. This might not bode well for it's chances at Oscar.
