I've recently devoted myself to upgrading the video portion of my system and haven't paid much attention to what's been developing with the newer receivers. I'm looking for something that will be able to handle 4 ohm speakers (5 Adire kit 281's). Also, since 3 of my digital audio components only...
My guess is that he may have the X1 set to auto input, which if it's getting a signal from any other input is defaulting to that. First turn off the projector. Try unplugging all inputs to the projector other than the composite in for VHS, then turn on the VHS with a tape in it, then turn on the...
Markus, So the screen is 45" high X 80" wide? I believe 3 meters (118.3 inches) may be too close to an 80 inch width screen, even with smoothscreen. But if the price for the screen is that good, masking it off and projecting a smaller image may work well for you. John
There is no firm answer to this question. You have to determine what you can and are willing to compromise here, based on number of rows and height of ceiling. I would suggest projecting onto the wall, before mounting the screen and adjust to where the most comfortable viewing can be had for...
I'm using a DIY, but had the opportunity to audition the X1 on a Da-Lite Model B matte white pull-down screen. The combination impressed me enough to buy the projector. That 80 x 60 will run you about $150 before shipping/taxes whatever. Heck, it'll cost you half that to make 2 screens yourself...
Hi Marc You'd be surprised at what size screen you can get from a FP in a 11 x 15 room. If you want to find out exactly what you can do, go here and pick your poison. Getting sucked in is about half the fun. Unlike you though I never had any intention of putting one of those behemoth...
Mike, Just out of curiosity, have you tried the overscan? If so did that have any affect on the edge brightness uniformity? Is what you are getting an overly bright wedged shape along the lower left edge about 1/2" at the widest part? If so, what I do is zoom that area into the black...
Chad You can get a Da-Lite Matte-White Model B pull down screen 16:9 and 80" wide for under $200. That would give you a 92" diagonal. Or you could go with a 4:3 AR and 80" wide could be had for about $150. This IMHO makes a very nice low cost screen for the X1. Or you could cheap out like...
Mike This is a documented weakness of the InFocus X1 (In the review you have linked and in at least one more I have seen as well). There are things you can do to minimize the effect, primarily having black borders appropriate to the aspect ratio; Duvetyne tape and black felt are your friends...
Matt, I can't give you any science on this, but maybe some practical suggestions. I think the rainbow issue affects people in degrees. I imagine practically everyone will notice, at least, an occasional rainbow from a 2X color wheel machine. It's a matter of how often and how severe. I've...
JohnS With the lens 10' from the screen the max you can do with a 16:9 screen is a little over 72" diagonal. Seated 8 feet from the screen you may see the slightest trace of screen-door, but a soft defocus will alleviate that. The front row seating in my room is 10' 6" from the screen. This...
Congrats Parker, I got my X1 about a week ago and I'm truly enjoying it. I made a screen for it out of 1 x 3's and a sheet of artists foam board. Cost totals out to under $1000 for 92" diagonal 16:9 TV. Bought the X1 for $960 after rebate. Are you planning on permanent mounting or table...
