I have a 1024X768 projector attached to a laptop. The problem is with a VGA connection, I lose by ability to scale to the 16:9 screen. The present player software I use (PowerDVD) works OK on widescreen DVDs but full screen uses the entire raster and doesn't have a scaler to keep it in the...
The character is waiting in front of an elevator being manually operated by a man. He has trouble getting it to stop in the right place and just when the character steps forward, it moves down causing him to fall into the elevator. I am fairly certain it's a comedy but who is the star? Anyone know?
I have the NTSC version on the A&E/BBC version of "P&P" and I am a little underwhelmed by the quality of the DVD fining it somewhat too bright. I was wondering if the newer 10th anniversary release that the UK has would be better. Do any of our UK members know if this is the case?
Carmike Cinemas just installed some new Christie 2000 digital projectors in our local cinema. I just watched "Ice Age 2" and was very impressed. The first thing I noticed was that the image was very well lit. The second was focus being very sharp and very good contrast. The specs on the...
This title was released today. Has anyone reviewed it or know any details? It's very strange there has been no ads for it or any info. It's like the producers don't care about the biggest SciFi show that SciFi channel has ever had.
I have the US version that is Full Frame and very poor quality. Can anyone tell me the quality of the UK version? I am fairly certain it was shot at least at 1:66/1 and really should look better than the awful NTSC version. Another thing is I am fairly sure the US version is a NTSC from PAL...
Having looked for wall treatments in the past and finding them too expensive, I built some of my own. They are covered with carpet material that seems to absorb reflected sound as effective as the rather large acoustic panels I had previously built. They measure about 40w x 52h so that they can...
After last weeks CSI, I was all ready to see what would happen after the management change. To my complete surprise they played a rerun and I did not see "R" on any listing. Bad move CBS!
One of the best "on the road" documentaries I've ever seen was the Bravo/BBC series "Long Way Round" with Ewan McGregor and Carley Boorman. It's about a 20,000 mile motorcycle trip around the world. I see the DVD comes out in the UK on December 6. Does anyone know if it will be available in the...
Since it doesn't look like this will ever be released here in the states, I was wondering about ordering it via Amazon.uk. Has anyone done this and what can I expect customs wise? The review on the UK PAL version was quite good.
This is without a doubt, the funniest made for TV show ever. It sets new standards for bad camera work, bad models and bad story line. How can you ever forget the evil crack coming after the train? And how about the clever use of the zoom lens IN EVERY SHOT!
I really like this British series but have been disappointed in the video transfers for the US market. Did the PAL versions look any better? The US versions look like they were filmed through wax paper. So far I've only seen the first two films.
I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before. A search on the title revealed nothing. Will this film ever be offered in anamorphic WS? The present copy isn't and it's not very impressive. I would think it deserves better.
Does anyone know of any hardware that can take component in and render either DV or mpeg? It seems possible to convert the 3 analog signals back to digital where then the WMV-HD encoder could render a HD disk on a standard DVD. I hate that I can not record HD since many of the films/shows on D*...
I was trying to find out whether "Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines" will be FS or the correct 2.2:1 70MM ratio it was filmed in. Amazon list it as WS but Netflix list FS. Fox has no info. It comes out in March.
I didn't see this film in the theater but am aware the Coen brothers have changed color palets in the past. Did this DVD seem to have a yellow/green look to it and seem a bit contrasty in many scenes? I didn't see this mentioned in the review I read.
My father in-law (who lives in BC) is going to be bed ridden for about 4 months. He doesn't have a DVD player. Would it be cheaper for me to buy one here and send it to him or have him get one there? I have no idea how much duty the Canadians have to pay. I also could not find a Bestbuy.com in...
I just visited the Media Player 9 site and it looks like a great deal of IMAX DVDs in HD are coming. "Coral Reef Adventure" is out now with more to come. Since it may be quite a while before main stream HD-DVDs show up, I am strongly considering getting a computer for my projector. You need a...
It seems every country but the US has this film on DVD. Is there some reason? This is one of the top films of all time, how can it be its not available here? All I have is the old laserdisc from Fox.
The 1948 film was either the first or second film Mongomery Cliff made. It takes place in war torn Germany and is very touching with excellent performances by all. All I have is a poor tape made when TCM showed it.
I am seeking a 20-24" TV that can do the 16:9 squeeze trick. Anyone know of a model? You would think for as long as 16:9 DVD's have been out it would be more commonplace by now.
I am a little surprised that there has been no mention of this award winning film that was released on DVD. The film is mostly in German but also in English at times. It deals with a well to do German Jewish family that leaves German before it was too late. They move to Kenya and live a much...
I watched the new spinoff show "NCIS" last night in HD and was impressed. I like the characters and the production values of the show. Of course this is the opening show so they may have spent more on it than normal. I especially like the doctor "Ducky" played by David McCallum.
Man they must really have parsed it from it's very long running time down to fit a two hour slot. It will be the first time it has been shown in any other format other than "Foolscreen". I guess the DVD coming out soon will be in 2:20 like they original 70mm print. ABC shows it at 7PM.
My wife and I are starting to get bored with "Survivor Amazon. Last season we much preferred "The Amazing Race". Does anyone know if/when it'll return?
I had purchased the LOTM early when it wasn't anamorphic. I recently purchased the later release (price droped from $22 to $12 recently) and was hoping for a sharper image. It was only slightly better with the image still way too soft. I would like to think that there must be a sharper HD...
