When I got my A2 I hooked it up to the optical input of my Sony ES30 and set for bitstream out. The sound would occasionly break up. It was very bad with any of the "Planet Earth" disc. I tried it on my brother's receiver and did not have this problem. The model I have was built in 1999 and all...
Someone else on another forum also suggested Zoom...I'll give it a try. As far as zoom ranges on projectors, most are very modest and give you very little range. It will cease to be a problem when I upgrade to a new projector one day.
Using any analog input, my projector will allow scaling so that I can use a 16:9 screen. This scaling does not work with digital, therefore any software that I use for movies needs to do the scaling. PowerDVD does this find as long as the movie is 16:9 (keeping the film in the 16:9 area of a 4:3...
I have a 1024X768 projector attached to a laptop. The problem is with a VGA connection, I lose by ability to scale to the 16:9 screen. The present player software I use (PowerDVD) works OK on widescreen DVDs but full screen uses the entire raster and doesn't have a scaler to keep it in the...
After waiting a long time for the anamorphic release of "The Longest Day", I was very disappointed in the image sharpness. I guess whatever they used for the master was just not good enough. I ended up watching it on a small widescreen monitor. On the plus side the bonus disc was good with some...
The character is waiting in front of an elevator being manually operated by a man. He has trouble getting it to stop in the right place and just when the character steps forward, it moves down causing him to fall into the elevator. I am fairly certain it's a comedy but who is the star? Anyone know?
I have the NTSC version on the A&E/BBC version of "P&P" and I am a little underwhelmed by the quality of the DVD fining it somewhat too bright. I was wondering if the newer 10th anniversary release that the UK has would be better. Do any of our UK members know if this is the case?
Not having a 1080P set is just not a good enough excuse for not going to HD DVDs. I have an older projector that I will be getting one of the HDCP converters for and with players selling under $500, the only thing I'm waiting for are more titles.
No Dan, just one who remembers how good this film was. I remember George C. Scott remarking after they find Maria Schell, "I hear she's a foreign woman. Is she loose virtued?" Great musical score.
Carmike Cinemas just installed some new Christie 2000 digital projectors in our local cinema. I just watched "Ice Age 2" and was very impressed. The first thing I noticed was that the image was very well lit. The second was focus being very sharp and very good contrast. The specs on the...
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that "Invasion" is clearly the forth remake of 1956's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". Still IMHO it is better than "Threshold" but I like the storyline of "Surface" better, also it's filmed in my state. "Lost" is in no danger at all from any of these new shows.
Does anyone know if the transfer is film to NTSC or PAL video to NTSC video. There is a big difference if so! I would not want the conversion artifacts if video to video.
This title was released today. Has anyone reviewed it or know any details? It's very strange there has been no ads for it or any info. It's like the producers don't care about the biggest SciFi show that SciFi channel has ever had.
I'm curious why these WMV-HD titles are so widely available in Europe but here in the states only a very few IMAX films are available and no feature films except "Terminator II". I would think it would have benefited microsoft. Now with HD-DVD soon to be releasing in the Fall, I would think...
I have the US version that is Full Frame and very poor quality. Can anyone tell me the quality of the UK version? I am fairly certain it was shot at least at 1:66/1 and really should look better than the awful NTSC version. Another thing is I am fairly sure the US version is a NTSC from PAL...
Yankton is almost at the other end of what is now South Dakota. It must have taken weeks to get there then since the only way was a trail (no rail service in 1877). It was the seat of the Dakota territories then. The west still wasn't settled much in 1877. The Pioneer newspaper in Deadwood was...
Finally, someone who deserved to win, wins. I am really tired of all the girls who just do nothing and stay out of sight winning. Congrats to Stephanie for being recognised as the best female ever in competition. To bad she was on a losing team.
I'm glad on the turn out of the race. It was the most exciting end ever. I just can't see how Rob & Amber having a personal escort in many of the cities was fair to the other teams. Rob was a clever player but his personally is nasty. It's nice to see nice people win for a change.
It will be interesting to see what Al does with Mrs. I. Surely he knows she's up to something since Al knows Alma had no part in her husband's death. I wish her the worst but not from Mr. W, that man and Cy are the psycho brothers.
I remember seeing this movie when it came out. The local theater cropped it as they did all their films after they installed CinemaScope screens. Some were framed OK for this and some were not.
This show is freakin' great. I'm still laughing over the "mr. Woo" show last season. I take it that the town is going to have a lot more villains this season, according to the web site. I am really excited over "Rome". If it's in the same vain as "Deadwood", it can not lose.
