I still have the old disc, and the packaging says it's DD 5.1, but my Marantz receiver says it is 4.1, it is showing a mono surround channel, not stereo. I listened to parts of it and the 4.1 track does sound very front centric, and very "big fat mono" like.
Hey guys, can you tell me what the UPC code is on your copy of Sum of All Fears. The reason I ask is that while entering it into DVD Profiler,I noticed the UPC is 9736-33722-4 and the UPC on the copy I have is 9736-33722-2. Checked a couple of places on the net and they all list it as...
Lowell,
I'm currently running a very similar surround speaker placement configuration as you in that I can't place the surrounds to the side of me becuse of a window on the side wall. I am using Phase tech dipolar/bipolar speakers for the surrounds and they are roughly 16 feet apart and...
Does any one using a Pioneer SD532-HD5 RPTV know whether or not the new firmware has any effect on the vertical shift I see on mine when in progressive output?? Does anyone have any knowledge on how to fix this period. Either way I'll make the upgrade as I hate to fix the left shift thing...
Scott,
Did you try and see if using the same method to shift the image left right (holding the joystick and hitting stop)on the Panny works in both the vertical and horizontal directions?? I'm going to try that as it would probably be something like that, that works.
Scott, I'm seeing the same thing as you are, as I have the same set-up (rp-91 and SD532-HD5) I was told by Jason over at Onecall that I should adjust the VPOS in the service menu to adjust the image vertically. I asked him if this was a global change or on a per input change, he told me it was...
I have this exact problem with my Pioneer SD-532-HD5. I've noticed it only happens with progressive scan. If I press the prog-scan button on the player and use the interlaced output the shift corrects itself. I don't believe it is an overscan problem, but an issue with the way the set handles...
James,
I have this exact problem with my Pioneer SD-532-HD5. I've noticed it only happens with progressive scan. If I press the prog-scan button on the player and use the interlaced output the shift corrects itself. I thought I remember Obi changing something on his Elite to compensate for the...
James,
I'm seeing the exact same thing on my Pioneer SD-532-HD5. I noticed that the problem is gone if you switch to interlaced output on the RP-91. Just push the progressive scan button and you'll see it. I think that it has something to do with how the set "interprets" the 31K scanning...
Rechecked the overscan numbers and they aren't quite as bad as I originally stated. They are as follows:
Top ~6%
Bottom ~1%
Left ~3%
Right ~0%-1%
I'd still like to fix the top number a bit but the others aren't to bad. Something strange I did noticed last night was that I popped the RP-91...
Thanks for the help Glenn. The overscan numbers I stated I was doing from memory. So I'll check them again, so I'm not mis-stating myself.

Thanks Errol, but the service manual really dosen't tell me much, either that or I don't understand it. Has anybody actually corrected overscan on this set, that can just walk me through the steps.
I'd appreciate the help.

Just recently picked up this set; and while setting it up with Avia I noticed on the overscan test pattern that my overscan is as follows:
Top - 10%
Bottom - 1%-2%
Left - 5%-6%
Right - 1%-2%
The one that really bothers me is the top. It is very noticeable while watching 2.35:1 movie as the...
