Where are you located in Canada? Stores in Toronto have copies. I've seen them at multiple stores throughout the city, including Future Shop (Empress Walk) and Best Buy (Dundas and Bay).
The difference will really depend on your display. I previously had a Toshiba 46HX83. The difference was noticeable, but not huge. I recently upgraded to a Sony 50" SXRD and the difference is night and day. Bottom line is that I stopped buying DVD releases and switched to HD only...
I guess my worry is that the speaker will be on the bottom shelf, placing the speaker nearly a foot away from the screen. Also, I'm only 7' from the TV and there are two small ottomans on the floor. You can see a pic at the following URL. http://goldensdomain.com/myplace/sli...ng%20Room.html...
I'm certain there are other treads regarding this topic, but the search function seems to get stuck in a loop when I use it. I just ordered a Sony 50" SXRD TV (KDS50A2000). I'm going to need a place to put my Polk Audio CS300 center channel speaker. I'd like to keep it on top of the TV if...
This is a current limitation of the PS3 itself and it not caused by your setup. The fact it doesn't pass blacker than black is only something that affects calibration. It will not affect video playback. What does after playback is black and white crush. After testing various disks, I'm pretty...
No. It's because the library isn't good on the PS3 and won't be for a while to come. Nearly all the games can be had in better versions on the 360. The only reason I'd recommend the PS3 to someone right now is for use as a Blu-Ray player. It's great at that task. Too bad Sony shot themselves...
But there's a huge advantage if you've interested in gaming as well. I'm not a MS fanboy. Hell, I own all three current consoles. The Xbox is hands down the better gaming system at the moment. I believe it will continue to be until well in to next year.
It's a shame that nearly all information found on Tom's site can be summerized like that. I remember when it was a site you could trust. Those days are long gone. On that note, I agree the race is still on. I think HD-DVD does have a leg up at this point, but it's still a close race. I have...
I couldn't imagine completely getting rid of my DVD collection in one go. My collection is safe on the shelf while it slowly gets replaced by HD counterparts.
I'll try Walmart later this week. I went to HMV (I work downtown) and they were even further behind with their stock. I went to Sam's and was told they had the titles listed in their system for Oct 17th. While I'd really like to have them for the weekend, I'd still be happy if they show up...
I went out to pickup Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Corpse Bride and Robin Hood today. Not a single store had them. Not only did they not have them, but they had no indication they were coming in the near future. Anyone have any information about this?
Two issues. 1) The player is very picky when there's the slightest bit of dust on the disk. They seem to be improving this through updates though. 2) Incorrect colorspace being passed for HDMI -> DVI connections.
Here's my review of the Toshiba HD-A1, 24 hours after purchase. I travel for work on a VERY regular basis. I come home for a week or so at a time, then leave for a month or more at a time. Yesterday, I returned from a 4 week trip. Given today is Labour Day, I knew groceries had to be bought...
I can't get the internal sub test tone to work no matter what settings I use. I can here the test tone through DVE, so I don't really care. Now I just need to buy a new 9V battery for my SPL meter. It seems I left it on for the past 4 months :)
I guess I should have searched on Google first. It seems there is an issue with the player when going HDMI to DVI. No prob. I'll just stay on component for now.
I just purchased the Toshiba HD-A1 and am connecting it to my Toshiba 46HX83 RPTV. Over component, the picture is terrific. Over DVI (HDMI -> DVI), I'm getting some severe black crush. I can't see the black bars in the DVE pluge pattern, or the moving bars in Avia. It's not only a problem in...
I hope this is the right place to post this. I'm looking for software like DVD Profiler, but for music tracking. It would be used for both LPs and CDs. Online listing is not required, but it should be able to pull up all album info online. All suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
A friend brought over his Xbox 360 and we were surprised by the amount of aliasing seen on my TV. I have a Toshiba 46HX83. We confirmed the system was running at 1080i. We tried other resolutions as well, but the aliasing just got worse. Any ideas? We've both seen PGR3 on other TVs (including...
I'm guessing the Blu-Ray playback on the PS3 will be equivalent to DVD playback on the PS2. So you'll get output that the average consumer will enjoy, but won't necessarily match the needs of those who are really in to HT.
I recently picked up an ATI X1600XT and had it connected to my Toshiba 46HX83 via the component video output. Since TheaterTek won't let me play DVDs when using TV-out, I tried using a DVI connection tonight. When connecting via DVI, it was impossible to possibly calibrate black level as I...
I recently picked up a Sapphire X1600 XT video card and decided to try connecting it to my 46" HDTV. It has support for 1080i output (via component output), so I was excited to play with some HD videos I have. I was surprised to find a pretty blurry output. Not only HD content was blurry, but...
I watched my copy for the first time last night and it too has a problem at the layer change. The chapter at the layer change is completely unwatchable. I don't have the receipt anymore, so I'm going to contact Universal about it. For the record, my disc was made in Mexico.
