If you really really want this title right now, ezydvd.com.au here in Aus have it on special at the moment for AU$14.95. It's PAL, and it only has a trailer, but it's here now.
The silly thing is, the R2 Harry Potter is dual coded R2/R4. So $2Warner actually had to make a special effort to produce an R4-only P&S release when they could have used the R2 transfer.
Uh oh... I've just come onto this thread but already I'm salivating! Especially since I'm a total klutz when it comes to woodworking, but somebody who ISN'T who I've just done some work for said he'd build any box I wanted to my specs, ooh la laaa! Unfortunately I'll be shifting interstate...
Nice covers Ric, I reckon I'll be using them. Actual use of the R2 boxes have revealed that the hinges are very small and flimsy, and break easily. And that the ntsc->pal conversion for r2/r4 has resulted in inferior image compared to r1. Sooo ... does anybody know where the 6-pack cases can...
Nick Sievers: you can save quite a few dollars at the moment by preordering it from Bensonsworld (.co.uk) for 16.99 pounds, shipping included. It used to be 15.99 but probably ramped up a bit after a rash of orders. It'll be PAL, too.
Be aware though, that the previous R2 Predator release (the U.K. one anyway) is cut, whereas the R1 is uncut. I'd wait and see if this feature loaded Predator will also be the trimmed version before I buy.
And down here in Australia, if a dvd comes out in widescreen it comes out ONLY in widescreen - we don't have dual 16:9 / P&S versions. And widescreen is the norm, not the exception. Oh, there've been a few slipups along the way (Wog Boy, anyone?) but as a whole, R4 down under is widescreen all...
If you're multi-region capable, the R4 True Lies has an absolutely stunning transfer that's about as good as it gets. It's reference and beyond. Not much in the way of extras (trailer, and that's about it) but who cares, the transfer is magnificent and the audio is just as good.
Derek: Thanks, but I've already found vector graphics of the assorted logos (including the SDDS logo - maybe my theatre will feature that as well!)
Ben: Don't hold your breath waiting, as it'll probably take a while before I get everything sorted out to do it, and then I reckon it'll take a...
Just to be difficult ...
I actually quite liked ELO Part 2, and their sound. I saw them live a few years back and it was just about the best concert I've ever been too - they rocked! (plus I scored Bev's drumstick that he threw into the crowd at the end, and met them afterwards and got them...
I thought I might have a go at etching my own logos to build lightboxes featuring the various cinema plaques for my home. Does anybody know the fonts used in the various logos?
DTS: I found a thread which mentioned Dolem as the 'dts' font and Optima as the 'digital surround' font. But what...
