I bought Dungeon Siege yesterday at Best Buy for $39.99. This week they also have where you can send in for a $10 gift card if you buy the game. As for how the game plays. I have no clue. It refuses to run on my machine more than two minutes at a time. I keep getting exception errors...
Well see the PS2 version is just called Silent Hill 2. Whereas the Xbox version is Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams. So they could've put the Only on Xbox stamp on it, if that was Konomi's plan. Sounds like the game reviewers once again didn't know what they were talking about. Big shock! ;)
That's what I use myself (advanced AV pack). Since my set doesn't have component inputs. But if I were in your shoes get the component AV pack. It's the exact same price and might as well have the better of the two packs. I myself can't tell the differance between component and S-Video, but...
I'm really surprised noone mentioned the Sega Master System yet. My favorite games on this classic system were Phantasy Star, Miracle Warriors, R-Type, Golvellius, Alf, Rampage, Alien Syndrome, Transbot, Double Dragon (2-players at the same time, unlike the NES version), Shinobi, Out Run, Hang...
Wow, I'm surprised noone has mentioned the Sega Master System. That was the little system that could. Spent many of nights of my formative years on that system.
My next system would be Genesis/Sega CD. The DC and PSX next. And lastly my Xbox.
The fan is rather quiet on mine. Though I have it in my entertainment center and I sit about ten feet away. I do hear the DVD drive seeking on games though.
I work as a extended warranty claims adjuster. Extended warranties are a very good purchase, if you know what you're purchasing. I can tell you how many calls I get daily of contract holders who are upset about noncovered parts not being covered. Many of them haven't even read their contracts...
Please let me be wrong on this, but I have a feeling the games are going to play like the SNES versions. While graphically similar to the Genesis, the gameplay was slow and unresponsive.
What the magnets do is this. When the tray closes instead of a spindle coming up to hold the disc in place, magnets are used instead. The misalignment of these magnets can cause the laser eye to scratch/gouge the disc. This from what I understand isn't an uncommon problem of the PS2.
That's not as bad as the PS2's scratching their discs due to using magnets to hold the discs in place. Which can cause the actual laser eye to scratch/gouge the disc.
My choice goes to the Xbox. Granted I haven't compared both side by side. But when I saw the DVD playback on my friends PS2 there was the obvious lip-sync problem along with the branching problems of T2. I know this has been fixed with the remote pack that Sony sells with the updated drivers...
Phantasy Star 4 I'm at the last boss, Dark Force. I just started playing another RPG and forgot to finish this one. Incidentally this game is also the most I've ever paid for a game. $95 on the day it was released.
Super Mario 64, I've beat the game but not with all the secrets. Both...
Sorry to hear about your PSX. When did the 6000 series come out? Thankfully my 1001 model is still going strong to this day. Isn't there an affordable modchip out for the PS1?
