Lucasfilm's Rick McCallum says DVD hurts box office returns.

I beginning to wonder if McCallum was referring to home video hurting the box office . Before the advent of VHS and home video, far more people went to the movies than they do today. VHS had a lot to do with that. DVD has exploded and it could have even more impact than VHS, especially...

    Comparison: Shrek -vs- Monsters Inc.

I'll chime in with a few thoughts. DVD - Both DVDs are stellar. I believe Monsters Inc. has the edge in transfer and audio. But Shrek is very good too. Extras again are plenty, with good insight into the filmmaking process for both releases. But again, I'd have to go with Monsters Inc. So...

Lucasfilm's Rick McCallum says DVD hurts box office returns.

Well what do you expect for the fifth film in a 25 year old franchise, following what many thought was a disappointment? What other franchise can boast 300+ million for a fifth film? Heck, what other franchise can boast that for the second film in the series? I think 300 million is damn good...

Lucasfilm's Rick McCallum says DVD hurts box office returns.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. Other than having a few problems, I liked FOTR pretty much. Just stating that the one fight scene after another fits FOTR more than it fits AOTC. Some complain there wasn't enough fighting on AOTC other than the last 30 minutes.

Lucasfilm's Rick McCallum says DVD hurts box office returns.

Well, you can copy and paste it all day long. There was no personal attack intended there, no matter how you took it. I removed it simply because you took offense to it for no apparent reason. I didn't remove it to take it back. I was trying to be nice, but since you don't have it in you to...

Lucasfilm's Rick McCallum says DVD hurts box office returns.

Why am I not surprised this turned into a prequel/Lucas bashfest.

Special Edition Comparison: LOTR vs AOTC

Well, considering AOTC takes place in a galaxy and worlds that don't exist, and for the most part can't be replicated by anything on this planet, I'd say they look pretty real to me. As real as something that doesn't exist can look. The Kaminoans look as real as they can look. So do the...

DVDFILE has their Spider-Man review up.

I heard great things about this DVD as well Neil. That's why I was so surprised by Peter's review. But you know Peter is usually very though and demanding in his reviews. Maybe he looked too hard to find something wrong.

I haven't seen it, but if the AOTC transfer is anywhere close to being as good as they rave about it being, I can't even begin to imagine how good it will look. Although, they probably should review the transfer on it's own rather than comparing.

Special Edition Comparison: LOTR vs AOTC

You're comparing a much more expensive 4-disc to a 2-disc. One's a mass release. That's hardly fair at least as far as extras and packaging go. Of course, comparing the transfer and audio is fair. As for your comparisons, you did a great job. I disagree on a couple of areas mainly having to...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: "Lord Of The Rings Extended Edition" (with screenshots)

Well, I was gonna pass on this release until the packaging was show some months ago. Then I was hooked. Glad it's reference. Great review Ron. I'll give the two disc to my brother-in-law when I get this. Don't have to have the theatrical cut on this one. That may be the first time I've ever said...

That is a surprising video rating. Up until now, I had heard great things about the video and audio. Whatever is the truth, I'll buy it for certain.

Special Edition Comparison: LOTR vs AOTC

Are you comparing the DVDs or the films? If you're comparing the films, I'll pass. Most here seem prefer LOTR to Star Wars. A few prefer Star Wars. But comparing the films has been done to death. So there's not much more I can add. As for the DVDs, obviously I haven't seen them. Going on...

Production assistant has been caught stealing hundreds of thousands from Lucasfilm.

Why? He did steal $450,000 from Lucasfilm. What would you have named it? And I'm sorry, but anyone that STEALS, and that's what he did no matter how may excuses are made, nearly a half million dollars of material that doesn't belong to him, he deserves a stiff punishment. Maybe not 7 years in...

DVD Review HTF REVIEW: "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones" (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) (with screen

This may sound like I'm trying to discredit his review, but I'm convinced that some people would cry "EE! EE!" even if there was none there. It's gotten popular to talk of EE no matter what. It's almost to the point where you can find at least one review of every DVD release that cries "EE!"...

Production assistant has been caught stealing hundreds of thousands from Lucasfilm.

Bill, what do you think stealing $500,000 warrants? Yes, he did steal a half million bucks. Taking something that doesn't belong to you is stealing. Maybe he should have thought of that before he committed a felony. You make it seem like stealing half a million dollars of copyright work is akin...
