Owning all of a series despite bad later/earlier seasons?

For me it depends on the series. I agree that reviewers have it wrong sometimes but sometimes the dvd medium has changed things some. There could be several seasons that I didn’t like/or can see why they weren’t liked due to the commercials and one episode releases each week. It is amazing...

What do you do when you discover a disc issue?

That’s what I’ve done although there were a couple that were universally bad and I was either unable to replace or had to go with an edition that I didn’t want. Before I do that I also usually clean the dvd gently with water and a paper towel and/or run it through a dvd skip dr, just to make...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I am usually very careful as well. I would wait for more and in person if I could but my area does not have a lot of stores that carry physical media and even if they do the selection is very limited. I generally only buy from very specific sellers on Amazon. If I don’t have that choice then I...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

Be c I just wanted to say be careful on that one. I ordered one from them last summer (they only had secondary sellers) and I got a counterfeit set.

The Bugs Bunny Show on DVD and Blu-ray

I am more interested in the unedited original cartoons but would still like to see some of the episodes and original bridging sequences. The Looney Tunes Golden Collection contains a few as bonus features but they are fairly short and cut up as I recall.

@ my local Wal-Mart, saw downsizing!!

I haven’t seen any downsizing at my Wal Mart but the local Target recently downsized their movies section. It now doesn’t even have an entire aisle as 2/3 of one side was revamped for their records.

What’s left that I’d like on physical media

I cannot say for sure but I got the impression that it went out of print because they had many problems with the sets. I remember reading about it (I think it was on this forum but I could be mistaken) and it can also be seen in some of the Amazon reviews. While they did seem to fix the issues...

What do you think the chances of one these sitcoms having a complete series release?

That’s mostly what mine had, although they did have 4400 the complete series and Numbers Seasons 1-4 as well.

What do you think the chances of one these sitcoms having a complete series release?

Mary Tyler Moore show has, I have it. It is just all the seasons in one of those big plastic cases

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I just got Midsomer Murders Sets 3-20 for $80 at a thrift store! In practically new condition.

The Complete Carol Burnett Show on Shout Factory TV (actually not even half)

I agree. I respect everyone who complains about not getting the full series (which I also want), but I don’t think it will happen. I think we were incredibly lucky to get what we did get on dvd and I don’t think any amount of posting, boycotting, or anything else will change it and get the...

What's the last TV DVD/Blu-ray you bought?

I splurged and got Star Trek: The Next Generation: Complete Series on blu ray

American TV shows that only got complete disc releases in other countries

It sometimes shows up as used, which can be a risk depending on its history. I found it used in December, but it is not a cheap set used usually. I saw it in December and got it for a price I could live with and I got lucky with a pressed set that works. If you’re looking, keep an eye on that...

Which modern current tv shows do you still buy on dvd?

I get what you are saying but I also have used the dvd releases to just stick with the seasons/endings I like, even when those seasons end in cliffhangers. Some examples of this are Castle, Scorpion, and Body of Proof. I liked the other seasons but did not get into the last seasons so I sort...

Which modern current tv shows do you still buy on dvd?

I don’t really buy many current tv shows anymore. The only one I buy is Big Bang Theory (and I get that in Blu-Ray, but would get that in DVD if it was all that was available). I sometimes will buy other seasons of shows I have heard about or missed just to catch up such as this year I will...

Physical Media might not be dead, but Physical Media in Retail Stores are accelerating the death

Digital media only lasts online if it is saved by others. Once the original website is gone, so is anything nobody copied. There are many sites and data that no longer exist (many geocites for example or tvshowsondvd) that were not saved and are gone. Internet archive works to a degree but...

TV shows most rare on DVD

Some of the region 1 releases released only in Canada might qualify, such as Joey: Season 2. I know at times when I looked it up it appeared scarce

The Official Disney Movie Club Blu-ray Exclusives Thread

There is and I do agree with what you are saying but personally I can see them going either way on this. They have been extreme enough that I think they could try to drop physical media and hurt themselves. On the other hand they could also go the route of keeping physical media now and...

Seasons of Shows with Cross over not included

ER is missing the third watch crossover, third watch never released the season with the crossover so it was never released on dvd. Bones did not include the sleepy hollow crossover (but it can be found on sleepy hollow season 3) Murder She Wrote did include the crossover with Magnum PI but...

    What is your packaging Preference

I like the multidisc packaging for each series mainly because it saves space. I do agree the manufacturers need to figure out something for when it ships because the discs get loose and move around. But once it gets to (and stays on) my shelves that’s not a problem. What I really don’t like...

Disney's Take Over of Fox TV Entertainment

While I (reluctantly) agree that eventually streaming will be the new norm, Disney really will need to be careful or they could shout themselves in the foot (so to speak). I am against the deal for a variety of reasons. People have been predicting the immediate demise of DVDs/blu rays for at...

    If TV DVD leaves us?

I am ok with multiple story lines as long as they work together ok. I think there are problems with this recently due to the length of some of these sitcoms. I was watching an episode of Big Bang Theory in dvd from last season that was not even 20 min long. Each year it feels more that we are...

    If TV DVD leaves us?

Interesting comments so far. I did grow up with cable but did manage to see some classic shows (I was a nick at nite fan and watched it even when younger) and saw a few other shows on regular stations throughout the day in the summer, so while I haven’t seen all old shows, I have seen (or at...

Physical Media might not be dead, but Physical Media in Retail Stores are accelerating the death

Best Buy used to be a place I would go anytime I was near one (unfortunately I did not live near one very often). I loved looking through their DVDs and even shopped enough to get the reward certificates. I ran into the same trouble you had with reward certificates about 3 years ago and even...

    DVD Sets depreciating in value

I have had a select few DVDs fail, but that is very rare so far (knock on wood :) ). As for dvd values, I have seen some fluctuate in value and go down but generally the ones that I notice go down are movies that get rereleased (even if the earlier edition was better). The ones I find the most...

Physical Media might not be dead, but Physical Media in Retail Stores are accelerating the death

Yes, but it is not a pissing contest about whether streaming or DVDs, or cds or anything else is better. When this thread started I found it interesting to see the discussion on what the stores are doing and how that affects physical media. While I may not like it, it still started as a good...

Stranger things season 2 Target exclusive

Thanks. I was just curious because Netflix had some interviews with the cast they put on their service and I wasn’t sure if they decided to transfer them to the blu ray.
