I love this release. The sound is pretty killer, great documentary, good picture. Extras are also quite good. I would definately reccomend picking it up.

Well everyone will inevitably have a problem with these kinds of things, and my beef lies with its bias towards 60's and 70's "classic rock". No daring choices in the top 100, just the same revered albums that these types of lists always pick. It dissapoints me that truly great albums like...

I am interested in purchasing DVE for the DTS tones and rear center speaker tones, but I am worried about all these problems people are having with the LFE channel. Are there any other good calibration discs with DTS tones (I suspect that for some reason my channel levels are incorrectly matched...

I reccomend, Daydream Nation, Sister, Murray Street...in that order. Daydream Nation is one of the best albums ever in my estimation. Those reccomendations for The Pixies and My Bloody Valentine I also second.

I really don't think it is an issue of being "more sensitive" to the DTS mix. I mean, the surrounds are really overpowering. For example, in Gladiator, in the dolby digital mix when he enters the colliseum for the first time, the surrounds pick up the sounds of the crowd all around him, but are...

After calibrating my system using Video Essentials (not DVE), my system, when played back in Dolby Digital, sounds pretty damned good. Everything sounds very well balanced. However, when I play a DVD using DTS, it is invariably much too loud in the surrounds. It is too the point of distraction...

I think any Weezer fans would definately dig Built to Spill. Similar styles, and both are very catchy. Check out "Big Dipper", "Cleo", "Twin Falls", or "Reasons", all of which are off "There's Nothing Wrong With Love", which pitchfork ranked as the 11th best album of the 90's.

There is still a lot of great rock out there...though most of it originated in places where the average Led Zeppelin fan wouldn't bother to look. Some of the really good bands right now, who are semi-popular and trendy, like The Strokes or Interpol, have their roots in bands like The Velvet...

And of the one's mentioned already: Revolver, London Calling, The Strokes (EU Version), and Aladdin Sane I all enjoy.

I've seen them twice now, once at The Warfield, and once at BFD. Both times they were outstanding, though they clearly preferred playing at The Warfield. Great great live performance, one of the best I've seen.

I grew up with CD...and have recently begun getting into vinyl. Lots of fun. Hard to find a lot of titles I want though. :frowning:
