Hey Folks,
It has been a long while since my last foray into building PCs, so I'm simply out of touch with options... I'm now needing to replace an ancient PC (circa 2004 big-box-store; the last time I bought rather than built one) that just died. I was using it simply as a way to access my...
My C drive is strictly for program files. No audio or video files at all. I've been told that Win7 tends to chew up memory with its various updates, but am uncertain of how to clean that up. My only reticence with swapping out the C Drive or trying to add to it is (a) I don't want to have to...
So I'm not sure this is the best place to post, but as I used the system described above with a 240GB SSD for my C drive, and now 8TB of media files, I thought I'd give it a shot. I have two -- unrelated -- issues now with my HTPC.
1) My C drive seems to be filling up horribly and each week I...
Ah, never mind, just found the answer: Ceton Q is on hold due to rumors that Microsoft "is still unclear whether Media Center will be offered in the next version of Windows Embedded."
Here is the Ceton customer newsletter: http://us2.campaign-archive2.com/?u=d8df9c2734d4388754bd41fd3&id=c543e133b0
For what it's worth, NewEgg just posted an initial product overview for the Ceton Echo:
Does anyone know if the Ceton Q is still in the works? I can no longer find any information about on the Ceton website.
Problem got resolved. In case anyone finds and reads this looking for an answer, I thought I should post it here - just to close it out. Following Matt's lead above [thank you Matt!], I posted my issue to the Media Browser community tracker and got an answer that resolved everything. That post...
the error msg I always get is "Cannot Play Video Windows Media Center cannot acces the file. The file might be in use, you mightnot have access to the computer where the file is stored, or you rproxy setting might not be correct."
Are there any other tutorials out there on this? I just don't get what I'm doing wrong. My file configuration is: E:ISO filesmovie titleVIDEO_TSmovie title.iso In a seperate folder I have my other files types: E:moviesmovie titlemovie title.avi Using the Media Browser Configuration Wizard, I...
Hmm...still not working. Just not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can play it in WMC if I click on the ISO file in its the drive folder, but it doesn't work when I try to play it through Media Browser.
Thanks for the idea, Joe -- I did consider mymovies, and it is cool, but I think I prefer Media Browser. I'm new to all of this, so I might be persuaded otherwise, but for now MB seems to be better and easier for me to use. Though I am still having the ISO issue. I tried to just follow the...
Hi guys, How does one play ISO image files in Windows Media Center? I just finished building my HTPC, and have begun configuing WMC, and adding updates and the like to my system. I decided so test out Slysoft's AnyDVDHD (and thier CloneDVD software), and have backed up several disks, but am...
Out of curiosity, how does one get BBC/ITV content outside of the UK? At one point I tried using proxy servers, but this interfered with USA-only content providers (like Netflix), and created related issues for me with secure online databases that flagged the foreign ip addresses. Is there a...
Hi there, I'm new to the forum, new to thinking about HTPC, and have limited though varied knowledge of the technology involved. I am almost totally useless when it comes to computer-builds (trust me, I have tried on far easier projects), so I have been talking to a professional custom-PC...
Wow... I'm new to the forum, new to thinking about HTPC, and am just totally blown away by the fantastic information and Q&A gathered here. Thank you - everyone - for contributing to this thread and keeping it going for total newbies like me to stumble across. This is extremely helpful.
