I can not speak to the technical end so I am unable to help you there. Forsythe was original made by Granada Tv. The original episodes as broadcast in England appeared to be shown in segments lasting longer then 1 hour so its possible they were reconfigured to fit into the 1 hour Masterpiece...- Greg Krewet
