PatW, some of us (including me) are customizing our sets using thinpak cases. The box will hold 14 cases comfortably, so the bonus disc will have to reside outside the box....
Personally, I couldn't stand leaving the discs in these horrible cases. These are Hitchcock films, for God's sake...
I too have a copy of UNDER CAPRICORN... but I've never watched it. Too many Hitchcocks, too little time... I now have 32 Hitchcock films on DVD (you beat me by one, George!), as well as 8 of his early films captured on my DVR (along with both of his 1944 wartime shorts). Oh, and the first season...
Speaking of nitpicking.... has anybody noticed the typos? Apparently Vertigo was restored by "Roberts A. Harris"! Man, between this and the Lawrence of Arabia superbit (Robert A. Harns), our man can't get a break!
Also MIA from the earlier editions are the 'Cast and Filmmakers' screens and the Universal web link (yeah, I know, big loss there). Luckily all the important stuff remains (except for the Rear Window DVD-ROM features... guess I'm keeping my old one).
I'm also keeping my original Vertigo...
Excellent point, Damin. However, I still need to get a multi-region player to enjoy them... that Malata that DVDBeaver's Gary Tooze uses looks good... cheap too.
I'm frankly dreading the shipping cost if I order the Early Years set from Germany.... I wish these films would get a proper release here in the States.
Heh.... I don't have a multi-region player yet, and I'm already thinking of buying multi-region discs! :D
Dave, your post brings up an excellent point. I've been looking for the German Early Years set, but the only place online that I've found it is on Amazon.de, and of course I can't read the damn website. Can you recommend any other websites (in English) that carry it?
And exactly how does this pertain to Mr. Huelbig's preference for the mono track? Great, Glenn Erickson liked the Vertigo remix. It doesn't mean everybody else does.
Finally got around to testing VERTIGO on our 57" widescreen RP set downstairs just now. Looks wonderful upstairs on the 36" direct view set, but what DVD doesn't? This was the real test.
Very very good.
It doesn't have the detail and sharpness of, say, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, but it's...
