I am really not familiar with either , but , from what I have read the 999ES would be my choice.
I like the build quality of some of the "older" stuff as opposed to the newer models.
Good luck
Gary
Hi Guy`s ,
Just some news I dug up on DB , here`s the link !!
The Digital Bits - Celebrating Film in the Digital Age
Release date is set for Nov 11th , 08.
New extras , but no word of a BD-set.
Have fun ! :)
Gary
Just can`t help digging up the past !! :D
Will we EVER see more Fame tv dvd sets ??
So far all we have is season 1 ( all 16 episodes )
I would like to see the series completed !
Later , :)
Gary
My set is "A-OK" , it might be your player.
Even some of the best players on the market can`t play ALL dvd`s out there.
Last year I bought Twin Peaks box set and some discs , I can`t nav. thru the menus with my DV-79AVi , but put the same disc in my $60 Sony `57 and it works fine.
Just...
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the up-date :D
In the mean time I`m trying the new Sony - DVP-NS3100ES.
Not realy that bad but , I need to really see and get the manual for the 79AVi before I make anything permenent.
Here is a "link" to a review I wrote of the 3100ES...
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the "link" :)
Right now I`m trying the new DVP-NS3100ES , it does have a few issues.
I`m looking to the "79" if the "3100" is a take back.
I was hoping someone knew of a confirmed release date !!
Take care , have a great day !!
Gary ;)
Hi,
Anyone know or have any info about this new player ?
The only info that I have is that it will br released sometime in Nov.
Any and all input and info would be a big help :)
Many thanks,
Gary
Thanks for your replies :emoji_thumbsup:
I had a feeling that it was due , I guess I`ll just have to wait and see.
$99.99 sounds like a fair price for a "core system".
If it comes to be , I think I`ll buy it :D
Thanks again for your help !
Gary ;)
Hi Guy`s
Thread says it all !!
But would realy like to know if it may happen.
It should and I`m counting on a 99.99 MSRP , what do U think ?
Thanks, :D
Gary
Hi Michael,
Yes I have tried "poking" around the service menu ( of course , not putting any changed setting to memory ) , and I do have the service manual for my set.
I always had it in the back of my mind to have it calibrated , but things have always seemed to get in the way.
I know that...
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your help :emoji_thumbsup:
Where my present TV is an older Sony and the user (me) can`t disable the SVM , then that is something that would need to be done to my set.
From day one on any mode except "movie" I have had "jagged edge" lettering , even CC on dvd`s.
Now...
Hi Guy`s,
I`m writing this post for help with a question about ISF calibration.
As many of you know already very few tube tv`s are perfect out of the box , and as such require a skilled “touch” to be perfect.
My question is , with so many tv`s on the market today , most have different user...
Hi ,
If you lack component space "Cable Card`s" seem like a good idea.
However the down side is that cable co.`s charge a service fee , where as if you just wanted a "box" you could pick on up and install it yourself.
The cable co.`s are worried that someone will have a hack for the card and...
Hi Manny,
At 1250 W , you are sure to get a bang out of that !!:emoji_thumbsup:
Definatly call Velodyne , that is a realy great sub.
I`m sure the whole house would shake when it was working :)
Right now I`m `kinda looking around for a new sub , and have one eye on the Velodyne 1200 II and...
Hey Manny,
I like your style , that 3090 is a great amp :emoji_thumbsup:
I had one , but now I have a DSP-A1.
And I have a Velodyne sub , mine is an F-1200.
I have been having problems with mine as well.
It has a scratchy volume control and it also "pop`s" and bangs and then trips. So much...
Yup :D
I have to agree , this thread is a long time comming !!
I have the Boston "Sound" and could not be happier !!
My speakers are:
Front > VR40`s
Center>VR12
Rear> CR8`s
Front Fx`s> HD5`s
Diriving them all is a Yamaha DSP-A1 Integrated Amp!
And my sub (looking for replacment -BTW )...
Hi Tom ,
Thank you VERY much :emoji_thumbsup: for your reply and help !!
WOW you sure did explain it well.
So unless a sub as a switch to turn off the internal crossover , it will always remain active.
Good to know.
I guess a lot of subs today have that switch (LFE-IN)
If a sub has that...
My center is a 3 way Boston VR12 (2-6.5" +1-4.5" +1'' tweeter) it has a range of 55~20K and the manual says set your amp for large , NO WAY , !!
It may have a good range , but I have found that a "small" setting and raising the center level as needed is a safer way to go.
Before that I had a...
Hi Tom,
Thanks for the info :)
So if I understand you correctly , the DSP performs the same function as a "mechanical" servo , put does so in a digital domain.
So it will basical correct and diminish the amount of distrotion that would be created by say a non "digital - non servo" sub.
Is...
Tony,
Does the motor ( disc ) spin?
Does it keep spinning after you press stop ?
Take for ever to engage ?
If so ;
Take off the "rosewood" panels
Then remove the cover.
After that you`ll see a bracket that goes across the top.
It will be held by 4 screws.
remove screws.
You should see...
Thanks for the advice Ken , the PB1 is on my list as well. :emoji_thumbsup:
That PC-Plus would sound sweet as well , but I also have a hight limit.
Here`s the deal , I built a "subwoofer" stand/table and the space for a sub is about 20 X 20 X 20 . Above that is a set of draws that holds alot...
I`ed love to , but it`s to deep :frowning: :frowning: , realy.
I have enough room for a 20" deep sub and thats it.
I had my eye on the new Axiom EP500
http://www.axiomaudio.com/epicenter500.html
What are your thoughts on that one ?
Thanks
Hi Ken,
Thanks for the advice , I would like to keep it around 1K.
I figure that should get me something that will "rattle" the floor boards LOL.
I have a Velodyne F1200 and it`s A-OK with music , but when it comes to some of the newer DD & DTS sound tracks it just can`t make the grade...
Hi Ken,
Sorry to hear about your problems , and sorry I can`t help. But I do thank you for your post , I was just over to JBL`s web site and gave them a look , but I think I`ll cross them off my list.
If you talk to them and explain your situation , they should just let you take the...
Hi Guy`s,
The Axiom EP500 is now for sale on Axiom`s web site.
Question is , are they good ?
I know that opinions could only come from folks that have had a chance to hear this sub prior to it release or anyone that has an EP350.
What I need to know is :
What makes a "digital" sub ( EP500 &...
What you could try is a direct video connection to the tv and see if that clears up the problem.
If it does then , it would be best to connect your dvd player directly to the tv ( if you have the connections on the tv )
90 Zenith , it must have at least two (S + composite ).
If so leave the...
